Race 1 - F&M NW2/25000LT Pace
(7) AFFLUENT SEELSTER did well in her first try at Yonkers, finishing second after flashing speed from post six. Stuck outside again tonight, but hopefully the same tactics are coming and she will be tighter with the race under her belt. (4) HEAVY HANDED HANNA was third in the same race as my top pick a week ago. The Goodell/Connor Jr. duo struck for a win later on that card, and this gal has been racing well also. (5) LOVIN COCOA makes just her second career start tonight. The qualifier here showed some ability, and Alexander can have one ready off the bench.
Race 2 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot
(2) BOOTS N CHAINS got going much better for DiDomenico in his last three and comes off an easy win against similar types to these down at Harrah's Philly. Gets an inside post here and can probably wire this field. (3) JACKS TO OPEN has winning experience at Yonkers this year and exits the amateur races, landing Bartlett's driving services. (8) KEYSTONE CHARGER ships in out of the $20,000 claimers over at Pocono. Picked up a third in his most recent effort here, and I could see him closing late to hit the ticket tonight.
Race 3 - NW2/25000LT Pace
(3) SUGAR SHOCK is just one-for-16 lifetime but has a noteworthy barn change, racing for Allard for the first time. I'll look for improvement based on that and hopefully a win against this wide-open looking group. (6) MACH DOMI was the runner-up to the well-meant Better Up last Monday. This looks like an easier bunch tonight, and he should be a threat. (5) MOTIVE HANOVER was racing well over at Pocono against NW2 and NW3 for trainer/driver Todd Schadel and now goes to Ford and has Bartlett to drive.
Race 4 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace
(2) CRISP MANE joins the Burke Brigade tonight, coming into his barn from Canada. Just one win this year, but it was over the half-mile track at Western Fair, and she was good enough to make the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots final. (8) THROWING SHADE overcame post seven at Pocono to get a win and a third in her last two starts. She's another possible win threat for the Dube/Allard tandem. (3) SAVANNAH SMILES has raced in NW6 and NW5 in her last two, so she gets some class relief here. She has a couple recent second-place efforts to Art Lecture that if she could repeat would put her in the hunt.
Race 5 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace
(1) PASSPORT HANOVER comes back to Yonkers tonight after making her last several starts in Pennsylvania. She recently beat NW4's at Pocono from post nine, has the pole position this evening, and was Bartlett's choice here. (3) APRIL AVA loses Dube to the Allard charge in here, but she's been good in her last two appearances, including a closing second a week ago. (2) BE BEST downed NW3's at Woodbine Mohawk Park most recently, and those are usually some pretty tough races. She looks like a contender here from a good post in her Yonkers debut and gets Stratton to drive.
Race 6 - NW4/50000LT Pace
(1) CAVIART ROCKLAND failed with no apparent excuse at 1-9 last week but starts from post one against a very beatable field tonight, so I'll give him another chance. (3) GAMBLINGTERROR hasn't been able to win for many weeks but often hits the board like he has in his last two, so he's a use underneath. (4) FAST ON THE DRAW won several weeks ago against NW4's and has been picking up checks since. He did gain late in the going last Monday.
Race 7 - NW5/53000LT Pace
(5) SILAS SEELSTER faced a tough group last week that included NW6's and NW8's. He drops into this NW5 class and draws well enough. He was able to stay flat in the effort last Monday and Stratton got to know him as well. (2) AMERICAN INFLUENCE took a first-over run at a well-meant Benson Boys N a week ago and flattened out. He moves inside to post two this week and drops from NW6 to NW5. (4) HEISMAN PLAYER sat a pocket trip to Caviart Rockland seven nights ago and blew by him in the lane to an easy win. Scott Zeron is not here tonight, so Brennan gets a shot in the bike.
Race 8 - F&M NW6/75000LT Pace
(1) PRIVACY HANOVER has been alternating between Pennsylvania tracks and Yonkers and is back in Westchester this time. She's in solid form with five top-three finishes in her last six tries, and she gets reunited with Bartlett from the inside draw tonight as his choice of three. (2) SWEET SHE ROCK finished a gaining second against NW5's down at Harrah's Philly most recently. She switches drivers to Brennan here and has won here over NW2 and NW4 previously. (5) ROSE RUN UPTOWNGAL has a barn change to Bucci from Burke tonight. She's been knocking heads against Grand Circuit foes lately and made the Ohio Sires Stakes Championship, but I'll try and beat her here.
Race 9 - NW7500L5/Winners of NW5000L5 in Last Start Pace
(2) COOL BLUES MAN seemed to be rounding into form earlier this month, but broke when stalking from the pocket on 11-12. He raced conservatively from post eight last Monday, but slides inside to post two tonight, and Holland has driven him before. (4) ZOEEZ BOY HENRY couldn't match strides with the winning Vapour N a week ago, but it was a good effort, and he gets another chance at this level. (1) DRINKA BEER stopped on the lead against NW10000L5's on 11-16 but beat NW7500L5's pretty easily when he last raced against them on 10-1.
Race 10 - NW6/75000LT Pace
(3) BENSON BOYS N improved to two-for-two in the U.S. with his comfortable win last Monday. He gets another shot against NW6's tonight and drew well again, so I will go back to him again. (1) SKIP TO MY LOU got wiped out on the far turn back on 11-11 but still finished second. He has the rail tonight and races for the high-percentage Cleary barn. (7) YACHT WEEK keeps Brennan's services and he does remain in the NW6 class. I think he has enough early foot to get spotted.
Race 11 - NW15000L5/Winners of NW10000L5 in Last Start Pace
(1) TOPVILLE OLYMPIAN finished second in his first two tries for Banca and now has the pole position and a shift back to this NW15000L5 class tonight. I'll look for aggressive tactics and the victory. (4) DECISION DAY was third and second in his last two opportunities in this class and drops down to it tonight after two straight appearances against NW20000L5's. (2) YOUCANIKNOW picked up some confidence with a pair of wins against lesser company over at Pocono and now returns to Yonkers from an inside post. Kakaley drove him to both victories and stays on here.
Race 12 - NW8/100000LT Pace
(6) WATERWAY rolled to an impressive triumph in his debut for the Banca/Bartlett tandem last Monday, and I'll look for them to complete the sweep of the late double here. (1) STAG PARTY is sure to take money but is winless this year. He was a rallying third from post six against NW8's at Yonkers two back. (5) CAVIART MAX set the pace ahead of Waterway a week ago and wound up holding second. He changes drivers to Stratton tonight and should be able to land on the lead or up close.
