Yonkers: Kakaley makes six stops in the winner's circle on Wednesday
Matt Kakaley had six winners, three for trainer Travis Alexander, on Wednesday night's (October 27) card at Yonkers Raceway.
Kakaley and Alexander joined forces to win the $20,000 opener with 3-year-old pacing filly Nuttinbuthebest (1:53 4/5), and then Kakaley teamed with trainer Edwin Quevedo for a 27-1 upset with 7-year-old pacing gelding Fox Valley Inferno (1:52 2/5) in the $32,000 third race.
Yankees Beast, a 5-year-old gelding trotter, gave the Kakaley/Alexander duo a double when he took the $13,500 fifth race (1:56 4/5), and D P Rocket, a 5-year-old trotting mare, completed their hat trick when she bagged the $36,000 ninth race (1:56 1/5).
Three-year-old pacing filly Thebeachiscalling (1:53 4/5), trained by Chris Ryder, was Kakaley's fifth winner in the $22,000 tenth race, and Kakaley polished off the six-bagger by steering 7-year-old gelding trotter Resita, a Tabitha Teresczuk trainee, to victory in the $21,000 11th race (1:56 4/5).
In other news from Yonkers, there were no winners in either the Pick 5 or Pick 6 on Wednesday's card. There'll be a $3,237.68 carryover and a $10,000 guaranteed pool in tomorrow night's (October 28) Pick 5, and there will be a $2,680.73 carryover in the Pick 6.
The guarantee in the Pick 5 is being offered as part of the United States Trotting Association's Strategic Wagering Program. The Pick 5, which begins in race five, and the Pick 6, which starts in the third race, both have a takeout rate of 20 percent.
Thursday night's 12-race program gets underway at 7:15 p.m.
