Race 1 - 20000CLM Pace
(2) DENVER SEELSTER has put in three nice performances since coming to Yonkers and got within half a length of Brookies Prince N, who has won ten straight races, on 9-19. Gets some major post relief off that mile, sliding in from post seven to post two. (4) ROCK ON PRECIOUS made one start against $25,000 claimers and now retreats back to the $20,000 level. Won twice in this class earlier this month. (1) WIND BLAST might have needed last week's race after the brief hiatus and drew well again, snagging the pole position.
Race 2 - NW20000L5/30000CLM/Winners of NW15000L5 Last Start Trot
(3) CASH ME OUT returns to Yonkers tonight at a lower level than his recent tries here. Last time he was this low on the class ladder in Westchester, which was back in July, he won by 5 1/2 lengths. Brennan's choice as well. (4) FASHION CREDITOR is always a big threat at this class. Couldn't reach a well-meant and pace-controlling Buen Camino last Friday, but there was nothing wrong with that performance. (5) PERLUCKY shifts back north from Harrah's Philly for this try. He has threatened in this class before and merits respect, hailing from the top trotting barn of Trond Smedshammer, even if Brennan went elswhere.
Race 3 - 20000-25000CLM HCP Pace
(2) DIAMOND COWBOY catches a pretty weak-looking bunch here from a good post. Still waiting on a good effort from this horse for Banca, but I think there's a good chance it comes here. (5) HALF A BILLION is the horse in here with the best form. Bartlett opted for my top choice, so Marohn Jr. drives again tonight. (3) NEWBIE was racing pretty well at Saratoga and then was in a tough spot at Freehold last time out against some good horses. Looks like he might fit against these.
Race 4 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM/Winners of NW15000L5 Last Start Pace
(1) IMPRINCESSGEMMA A makes her Yonkers debut tonight after winning two straight impressively in Pennsylvania. Looks like she's got plenty of speed to get involved, and I'll take her on top. (2) SAFE FROM TERROR ended up having to work hard to get to the front last week and faded in the last quarter. Maybe she can sit a pocket trip behind my top choice tonight. (3) MACH IT A PAR just held on by a whisker to win a week ago. You can never count her out against these types.
Race 5 - 25000-30000CLM HCP Pace
(2) OUR REGAL IDEAL N dropped to this class last Friday and rallied late for fourth. Moves inside to post two tonight, and after picking him last week, I'll give him another try tonight. (5) NY WHITESOX has put in two good performances in a row despite being ignored at the windows. Draws a similiar mid-pack post tonight, and I imagine we'll see him on the lead on in the pocket again. (6) ONLYTHETUFFSURVIVE never got involved from post seven a week ago. Bartlett stayed loyal and went with him, so maybe we'll see him change up tactics tonight.
Race 6 - F&M NW15000L5/25000CLM/Winners of NW10000L5 Last Start Pace
(1) KOTARE YARRA N finished off her mile with a good kick last week after sitting off-the-pace from post six. Has the rail tonight, so I see Goodell putting her on the engine and trying to wire this group. (3) MADE OF JEWELS AS has been hampered by bad posts or being too high up in class lately, but she drew well tonight against the right company if she's on her game. (2) ROSE RUN TONI put in a game performance from first-up last week, threatening the classy Mach It A Par and just coming up short late in the going. Stratton stays on.
Race 7 - F&M Open Handicap Pace
(6) ALEXA'S POWER gained at Feelin Red Hot a week ago but couldn't get by her again. Feelin Red Hot didn't enter tonight, so this is a winnable spot for this one. Bartlett hops off, but Marohn Jr. has piloted her recently as well. (2) ANGEL'S PRIDE has gotten close at this level lately but hasn't been able to win. Did draw well again and might be able to sit a pocket trip. (5) BETTERB CHEVRON N will be looking for some pace to chase to set up that good late kick of hers. Gets a good mid-pack draw to follow some cover.
Race 8 - NW15000L5/25000CLM/Winners of NW10000L5 Last Start Trot
(1) BLENHEIM absolutely dominated in two wins over the NW10000L5 class since Hudson took over. He does move up to this in-between level tonight, but this looks like a field he can probably roll by from first-over again, especially from the pole. (4) IN MY DREAMS had outside posts in his last two, so he had better luck at the draw tonight. Might see Siegelman send him and get the lead. (6) LINDSEY'S PRIDE gets out of post eight tonight but is still outside in this bulky field at the added-distance. I could see him closing late to threaten.
Race 9 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM/Winners of NW15000L5 Last Start Pace
(4) D GS ELSA receives some more class relief tonight after taking a first-over shot last week and fading in the final quarter. Might be able to beat this group on the front-end like back in the summer when she was last seen at this level. (2) BROWN BRINNY plays musical barns, going back to Laterza again off the claim. She was excellent last Friday night with a sustained rally from off-the-pace to win at long odds. (5) JANUARY A has been in good form lately. She might be a bit too high up in class to threaten for the win, but I think she can hit the ticket.
Race 10 - F&M NW31100L5 / 3&4YO F&M NW10 Pace
(1) LOVIN MISS DAISY N lands the pole again after starting from post seven last time. She hasn't been able to beat the NW30000L5's yet, but she's come close against some classy mares recently, and I'll hope she offers a bit of value. (4) CLEAR IDEA won out-of-town a couple times recently but hasn't been able to here despite racing well. Put in a huge effort two weeks ago from post eight, so she has post relief tonight also. (2) NEVERFORGETWHOUR is another one who is probably best against the NW20000L5's, but she also has a good post to work with and finished well last Friday.
Race 11 - F&M NW15000L5/25000CLM/Winners of NW10000L5 Last Start Pace
(1) POPPY DRAYTON N closed with some interest last Friday in that race won by Mach It A Par mentioned elsewhere. Moves inside from post seven to post one, and I'll give her a shot. (7) ALEXIS FAITH hasn't had any luck with the draws since coming down from Canada but she raced very well back on 9-13, falling just a nose short to Glenferrie Blade A, who went on to win again out of that race. (2) TIPP CITY ended up having to come first-over last week and retreated in the last quarter. From a better draw, she might end up on the lead or in the pocket tonight, which makes her more dangerous.
