Race 1 - 20000CLM Pace
(6) GYPSY LEATHER went off form for a few races but paired a good race down at Harrah's Philly with another one last Friday and meets up with a beatable group here. (2) DO OVER HANOVER rejoins the Allard barn tonight. Beat $40,000 and $50,000 claimers for Rene last year at Yonkers, so he knows him well and has had him racing strongly before. (8) WIND BLAST shifts back to claimers after winning against NW5000L5 company on 8-22. Hudson barn has been hot, but it'll be tough for him from out in this post.
Race 2 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(3) TOP FLIGHT ANGEL returns to Yonkers tonight off an easy win down at Harrah's Philadelphia. Was competitive in the open when last seen locally and kept strong company at the Meadowlands before the end of the meet. (1) WINNING SHADOW drops and gets post relief by drawing the rail tonight for the potent Brennan/Burke combo. (2) WHETHER OR NOT FI retreats from the NW30000L5's to the NW20000L5's tonight, putting him back in contention for a good showing.
Race 3 - 25000CLM Pace
(4) HALF A BILLION draws better tonight after being saddled with the eight-hole a week ago, and Bartlett hops back in the bike. Hoping for an up-close or on-the-lead trip and a victory. (3) STATESMAN N looked like he was on the verge of a win for several weeks and came through last week. Definite contender to double up from a good post. (6) SHOREVIEW just couldn't catch Statesman N last Friday, but it was another good effort. Horse hasn't won this year but does often come in underneath.
Race 4 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(2) BROWN BRINNY had the misfortune of running into a well-meant Bronze Over N last Friday, but she draws well again for this try and like my top pick in race three, gets Bartlett back to drive. (4) A CRAFTY LADY just toured the track from post eight a week ago, but she has post relief tonight and might be in position to follow Brown Brinny if she employs her usual first-over grind. (1) BELLATRICKS hasn't had a great deal of fortune at this level, but she does have the pole and might be on the lead.
Race 5 - 25000-30000CLM HCP Pace
(2) LONDON SEELSTER gives claiming company another try after a win and a second against the NW5000L5 and NW10000L5 classes. Has post relief tonight from that last attempt, shifting in from post eight to post two. (4) ROCK ON PRECIOUS struggled to get involved last Friday but moves inside to post four this week, and that might make him more dangerous, like back on August 9. (5) HEEZ ORL BLACK N scored a hard-fought first-over win a week ago and was claimed by Bamond. Nothing wrong with that effort or his form, but I'll try to beat him.
Race 6 - F&M Open Handicap Pace
(3) ALEXA'S POWER wound up with a good post in the open draw, and I think it puts her in line for a two-hole trip like two back where she was victorious. (4) DIBABA N has been coming close against the Open types, but hasn't been able to break through with a win, and I don't see that changing tonight. (8) FEELIN RED HOT took advantage of a scratch and a good draw to go all the way on the engine last Friday, but she moves back out to post eight tonight, and I believe that makes her vulnerable again.
Race 7 - NW10000L5 Pace
(2) DOCTOR BUTCH destroyed a group of NW10000L5's on August 22, draws inside at the same level, and meets up with a group of horses who are hiking up in class or off-form tonight, so I see him doubling up. (6) FOOL ME ONCE was second in two tries at the NW5000L5 class after joining the Bongiorno barn, but you always have to respect their chances. (1) MAKASI steps up off a win. Loses Bartlett to Doctor Butch, but he does have the pole position to work with again.
Race 8 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(1) SALLY FLETCHER A started slowly last week but got rolling to finish third. Not getting away well was a little out of character for her, so I'll bank on Marohn Jr. having her more forwardly-placed tonight and getting the job done. (3) QUITE A SIGHT gets class relief tonight and retained Bartlett over my top selection. (2) SHEZZA GNP N couldn't find a hole last week and got parked the mile, but she slides inside to post two tonight and should be able to work out a better trip.
Race 9 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(3) KAITLYN N receives class and post relief tonight. Showed a nice closing kick last week, and I'm expecting her to be heavily involved tonight. Was rejected by Bartlett, which is concerning with a Banca horse, but also might provide a bit of value. (1) DONT THINK TWICE A looms from an inside draw after a tough beat second to Lispatty at the NW30000L5 level last Friday. Was Bartlett's choice, and she'll get plenty of wagering attention. (4) ZOE ELLASEN is usually a threat in this class, but she's up against it on the win end tonight with the two main contenders to her inside.
Race 10 - F&M NW30000L5 / 3&4YO F&M NW10 Pace
(5) AL-MAR-GOT A FEVER was a rare non-winner for DiDomenico last Friday as he dominated the card. Taking a flyer on Bongiorno being a bit more aggressive with her tonight and trying to cut it or sit a pocket trip. (4) MACH IT A PAR gets away from the Opens tonight, and that usually is enough to put her back in play from a win standpoint. (1) RECLAMATION hasn't won in two tries at this level. Wound up first-over for a long ways last Friday and should be able to work out a smoother trip from the pole tonight, but I'll try and beat her at what should be a low price.
Race 11 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(5) NEWCASTLE landed a better post tonight than the seven and the eight he had in his last two, so maybe that can get him going the right way in what appears to be a wide-open race. (3) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN gets the drop he's been in search of tonight, and he was Brennan's choice. Lacks form, but could definitely wake up here like he did on July 12. (1) SHOWMEYOURGUNS has to step up tonight but did win easily in his last and has the rail. Loses Brennan.
Race 12 - NW10000L5 Pace
(1) KEYSTONE PHOENIX really had no chance when Odds On Delray ran off the screen last Friday, but he starts from the pole tonight, and there aren't any formidable foes in here. (5) MAJOR BUCKS disappointed two back at this level when favored. He returns tonight after one shot against the $40,000 claimers from post eight and picks up an aggressive driver in Dube. (3) SPRINTER N invades from Harrah's Philly tonight and joins a strong outfit in the Dylan Davis barn. Went a big mile on 7-25 that would make him tough if he's that sharp, and he was Stratton's choice.
