Race 1 - 20000-25000CLM HCP Pace
(7) DIAMOND COWBOY debuted successfully for Hudson on 8-17, going a big mile to beat the straight $25,000 claimers. Gets to drop slightly as this race includes $20,000 claimers, so even though he moves outside, I'm going to bank on Stratton getting him a good spot on the lead or in the pocket. (6) FIRST CLASS HORSE has been closing well in his recent efforts, and he might get some pace to chase again here. (5) GYPSY LEATHER perked up with a better effort down at Harrah's Philly last time out, but I'll take a stand against based on his recent performances locally.
Race 2 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(1) BARRY BLACK had to work pretty hard to get to the lead on August 6 and faded late at the added distance. Shifts back to the flat mile tonight, draws the rail, and is reunited with Marohn Jr., who won with him at this level two back. (7) NEWCASTLE returns to Yonkers tonight after one race at Harrah's Philly where he was never involved. This is a drop from the last time here was here in Westchester. (5) DAYSON should receive plenty of attention based on his back class, but he hasn't been very consistent lately.
Race 3 - 25000CLM Pace
(2) MACH DEJA VU races for Fusco Jr. off the claim tonight. Been knocking on the door at this level and hopefully he can knock it down tonight. (5) STATESMAN N is another one who has been racing well without being able to get a win lately. Moves off the rail to a mid-pack post tonight. (6) NY WHITESOX changed tactics last time and rallied nicely. Could get the same type of pace set-up here.
Race 4 - 25000-30000CLM HCP Pace
(7) ROCK ON PRECIOUS is a certified closer, so he'll need the horses inside of him to mix it up like on 8-17, but I could definitely see that happening as there are several who like to be on or near the lead. (3) TRIPLE SEELSTER is in good form with two wins and a third in his last three and gets Dexter Dunn to drive tonight. (2) IMA TRAGEDY N delivered a big upset in the same race my top pick was second in. Draws well again and could definitely double up, though at obviously a lesser price.
Race 5 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(2) BROWN BRINNY has been razor-sharp for quite a while for Banca. Switches pilots to Eric Goodell tonight, but she has a good post to work with again. (7) TELL ME A JOKE picked up a nice third in her first appearance at this level. Switches outside on the gate tonight, but hopefully she can follow in a live cover flow. (5) VELOCITY MCSWEETS flattened out in the lane against Brown Brinny on August 9. New driver in Brent Holland tonight, so we could see a change in tactics.
Race 6 - F&M Open Handicap Pace
(6) APPLE BOTTOM JEANS finally gets away from Shartin and Caviart Ally tonight into a spot where she can use her quick early foot to get the lead and go all the way. (2) WISDOM TREE is another one who has been getting checks against Shartin and Caviart Ally. Dunn knows her well as he's been piloting her recently and is here again to guide her tonight. (5) FEELIN RED HOT doesn't have an outside post tonight, but I think my top pick is quicker off the wings than she is, and she might have to tuck.
Race 7 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(3) ANGEL'S PRIDE destroyed lesser company on August 13. She steps up tonight, but it's still lower on the class ladder than two back, and she won at this level in April and May. (5) KAY'S DELIGHT raced well on 8-15 in her first start back off a layoff. Should be tighter off that mile and could show more. (4) KEENE OLIVIA closed well again in the same race Kay's Delight comes out of and has a better post to work with tonight.
Race 8 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(9) GLENFERRIE BLADE A takes another drop in class tonight but wound up with a trailing post. The horse in post one usually leaves, so she should be able to get spotted well, and she has enough class to beat these, given she has a win over open company on the page. (1) I WISH YOU WELL has been coming close at this level, including a close second to Brown Brinny earlier this month. (3) QUEEN LOSTRIS N found her form over in Pennsylvania in her last three and ships back to Yonkers tonight. Definite threat.
Race 9 - F&M NW30000L5 / 3&4YO NW10 Pace
(7) RECLAMATION took a tough beat from Miss You N in her Yonkers debut on 8-9, falling a nose short. Miss You N went on to finish second in the open in her next effort, so I don't think that was a bad loss, and I'll give Reclamation another shot. (3) AL-MAR-GOT A FEVER retreats out of the open to this level where she's finished second twice in recently. (2) DONT THINK TWICE A made an uncharacteristic break when last seen locally on July 12, but she gets away from the division's best tonight and adds Dexter Dunn.
Race 10 - F&M NW30000L5 / 3&4YO NW10 Pace
(4) WRITE ME A SONG won impressively for Hudson and Burke in her last two tries at this level, so while she does meet up with some tough mares here, I think she has a touch more class. (2) SAFE FROM TERROR raced conservatively from post eight on August 9, but she switches inside here and kept Marohn Jr. Expecting her to be involved. (5) KIMBERLEE cruised to a win on August 17, but she's stuck outside some other speed here and might have to take a seat.
Race 11 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(4) FASHION CREDITOR made one start at Pocono and heads back to Yonkers tonight. He's usually the one to beat when he's in at this level, and I think that's the case again here. (3) STORMY KROMER put in another big effort on August 9, leading from post eight and just weakening late. Draws much better here and could go a long way on the engine again. (6) MARLEY'S GUY had a trailing post in an extended distance race on 8-9, so he returns to the flat mile and gets a spot on the gate tonight.
Race 12 - NW10000L5 Pace
(4) ODDS ON DELRAY only has one win this season, but he's raced well both times he's been at this level lately. Seems like he catches the right spot and group to win here. (5) KEYSTONE PHOENIX switched barns to DiDomenico last month and he raced well twice at Harrah's Philly for him. Brennan chose him over others, including my top choice. (1) PARTY BOY moves to the rail tonight after rallying against the NW9 class on August 12. Did finish third against NW10000L5's on July 20.
