SPOT PLAY - I WISH YOU WELL (12th)
Race 1 - 25000CLM Pace
(7) COOL BLUES MAN drops one level tonight for Banca, putting him back where he raced well for DiDomenico back in August, and retains Bartlett. Think he has enough tactical speed to land a spot from this outside post. (2) NY WHITESOX raced well in his one start for Robertson and now goes for Garcia-Herrera off the claim. Does step up a bit to the straight $25,000 claimers but does get significant post relief. (4) MACH DEJA VU appears to have found his form in Pennsylvania and gives Yonkers another try tonight. Did lose Bartlett but Stratton has piloted him before.
Race 2 - Excelsior A Series 2YO Filly Pace
(2) HEN PARTY moves from the top sire stakes level to the Excelsior A Series tonight, making her a big threat. Nothing wrong with her two thirds against the best of the bunch and she drew well. (1) KITTY HOYNE has found the Excelsior A Series group much more to her liking than she did the NYSS fillies. Has the pole position and got the services of Tyler Buter when Brennan went to my top pick. (4) ALLEYESONME AS picked up a hard-fought first-up win over Kitty Hoyne on July 11 at Yonkers. She might end up with a similiar journey tonight, and I'll put her behind my top two choices.
Race 3 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(4) BIGBOY ROSCO was stuck out in post eight last Friday, but this week he gets a better post to work with and switches back to Brennan. Let's hope he can take advantage. (3) APLOMB HANOVER has out-raced his odds in both starts for Garcia-Herrera and is another contender switching back to an inside post for this try. (5) LIMERENCE stayed on the cones last week, but switches drivers to Tyler Buter this time, and we may see a more aggressive approach.
Race 4 - Excelsior A Series 2YO Filly Pace
(3) LADYBOSS has dominated in the Excelsior A Series so far, and given the lack of form of the others in here, I can't go against. (4) SUGARONTHEBEACH was very good here at Yonkers on July 11, just missing from post seven. Had a tough trip against Ladyboss up at Tioga, but gets Bartlett back tonight, and hopefully he can find her a cleaner journey. (1) IDEAL PATRIOT had post eight and wound up first-over at Tioga, so she gets serious post relief tonight, sliding back to the rail. She's another one who performed well at Yonkers back on 7-11.
Race 5 - New York Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Pace
(3) DRAGON ROLL couldn't have been more impressive from post eight at Tioga, so even though she steps up from the Excelsior A Series, I'll look for her debut at the top level to be a winning one as well. (4) GALLERIA GAL retained Tyler Buter over the morning line favorite in here. Faded after working hard to get the lead at Tioga, but she dominated two back here in Westchester. (5) RACINE BELL has hit the board in all four sire stakes starts to date and has enough early foot to get a spot from her mid-pack starting slot.
Race 6 - New York Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Pace
(4) WANNASHAKEYOURTREE invades from Canada after a nice win, and she's finished both her miles well so far. Going to bank on Blackler having her ready like he has several horses he's gotten from Mohawk for Millar Farms this year. (3) MERGA HANOVER is going to go to the front for Brennan tonight like back on July 11, I think, which should make her very dangerous. Has performed well so far during her 2-year-old campaign. (2) SO RUDE got some pace to chase and a perfect trip up at Tioga, but to her credit, she capitalized on it. Another talented filly who has been racing well thus far.
Race 7 - New York Sire Stakes 2YO Filly Pace
(3) TURNTHEFROWNAROUND dusted her rivals impressively at Tioga, and even though I don't think she's been as good on the half-mile track so far, I will go with her in hopes that she continues to improve. (2) CASH ROLL stopped for no apparent reason at Tioga, but maybe she just wasn't a fan of the five-eighths mile. Draws well here and Stratton takes over in the bike. (6) COCONUT BEACH took a shot from post six at Tioga and faded late to finish third. Will be looking for her to go forward again tonight from this post.
Race 8 - 25000-30000CLM HCP Pace
(6) HEEZ ORL BLACK N retreats to his most productive level after one good try against the $40,000 claimers. Rolled over this class impressively two back. (4) SOHO JACKMAN A had no issues with the class hike last Friday but meets up with my top pick tonight, and might not have the lead. (2) SHOREVIEW posted a nice second-place finish to my top choice on July 19 from the seven-hole and slides inside to post two for this race.
Race 9 - F&M Open Handicap Pace
(2) TWINKLE showed some late pep in her step a week ago to get up for third in the open. Has an inside draw tonight, so she should be on the lead or in the pocket, I would hope. (8) FEELIN RED HOT has been so impressive from outside draws the last two times in the open, but I keep hoping it might catch up to her. Certainly has plenty of early speed to get right to the point again. (5) ANNABETH fired another good race last week. She might be a little bit more off-the-pace this time from her mid-pack starting spot, but she was able to rally for third two back.
Race 10 - F&M NW30000L5 / 3&4YO NW10 Pace
(1) LOVIN MISS DAISY N closed well last Friday to finish fourth at this level and switches back to the pole position this time. Hoping she will be able to secure the lead or the pocket and deliver the goods. (4) MACH IT A PAR found the opens too tough but won against the NW30000L5 group on July 12. (2) BETTORHAVEANOTHER ran into the well-meant Miss You N back on July 19 and had to settle for second. Steps up on the class ladder tonight but does get a better post to start from.
Race 11 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(7) BLENHEIM faced off against some serious foes in Pennsylvania, including the razor-sharp Rich And Miserable back on June 8. Was in the open last time he was at Yonkers back in March and catches a beatable group here. (1) SOUTHWIND CRUZE took plenty of betting action on July 19 but broke stride. Draws well again and is a major threat if he stays flat. (5) BARRY BLACK rallied for a third last Friday night and gets another chance to race against this class.
Race 12 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(1) I WISH YOU WELL turned her luck at the draw around in recent weeks but hasn't been able to take advantage yet. Has the pole again this week, so hopefully this is the time she comes through. (2) NEVERFORGETWHOUR won easily against this NW20000L5 class when she got to race in it back on June 7. Gets reunited with Bartlett tonight and was his choice. (3) SURREAL FEELING has been racing in the open at Saratoga and was at higher levels than this here at Yonkers before going out of town. Bartlett opted off.
