Race 1 - 20000CLM Pace
(1) RURAL ART has been coming up dry in recent weeks but double drops from the $30,000 claiming level to the $20,000 group and draws the rail. I'll bank on that giving him a wake-up call. (3) DONAU flashed renewed speed last week before tiring in the lane. Gets some slight class relief, sliding down from the claiming handicap to straight $20,000 claimers and draws well again. (7) ABNER THE GREAT picked up a hard-fought win a week ago but moves outside on the gate to post seven, and I will attempt to beat him.
Race 2 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(2) URSIS DES CAILLONS returns to Yonkers tonight after finding his form down at Harrah's Philadelphia. The Bongiorno barn has been striking with many of their trotters recently, and I'll look for him to be another one. (1) LIMERENCE is usually a contender at this level when he draws the inside like he does tonight. Coming off a nice win over lesser company on 7-16. (8) WHETHER OR NOT FI is another one coming back to Yonkers from Harrah's Philly. Gets the worst of the draw after two straight victories from the rail down there.
Race 3 - 25000CLM Pace
(8) GYPSY LEATHER elected to sit in last week rather than brush to the top, and he ended up locked in. Did finish up strongly once clear late in the stretch, and even from post eight, I'll go back to him, especially with that sharp rally two back from out here. (2) LONE RAIDER had two good starts for trainer Brandon Todd before getting a break. Qualified well behind a good mare in Kaitlyn N and draws a good post for the comeback. (5) ONLYTHETUFFSURVIVE found the $30,000 claiming group too tough last Friday and drops tonight, which should put him in play.
Race 4 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(3) MISS YOU N dominated in her Yonkers comeback last Friday night and gets another shot to race against the same class tonight. Bartlett also took her over a Banca trainee, so that's another plus in her column. (1) BROWN BRINNY loses Bartlett tonight but has been racing well for Banca, capped off by a win in a different NW20000L5 race a week ago. (4) ZOE ELLASEN gets to drop back to the level where she's usually the biggest threat, but is drawn outside the main contenders.
Race 5 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(2) QUITE A SIGHT didn't have much of a chance on July 5 when saddled with post eight but receives post relief tonight after closing nicely in that mile. (3) ITTY BITTY hasn't fired her best shot since the qualifier, but she's capable of turning it around at any time. Also gets a better post to work with tonight. (1) DARK FORCE comes north after two wins in-a-row down at Harrah's Philadelphia. Knocked off the classy mare Sidewalk Dancer in that mile on July 16, so she's a major danger.
Race 6 - F&M Open Handicap Pace
(3) ECLIPSE ME N just missed the track record up at Saratoga last time out and has been raging other than the mile she got parked out here on July 12. I'm expecting her to make the front tonight and to win. (7) FEELIN RED HOT dominated the opens last Friday night, but I'm not sure she can get around Eclipse Me N for the lead tonight, and I'll try and defeat her. (6) GLENFERRIE BLADE A looks like the logical closer if they battle up front. Had a tough post against Eclipse Me N up at Saratoga but did rally.
Race 7 - F&M NW30000L5/3&4YO NW10 Pace
(4) ALEXA'S POWER is in the easiest spot she's found herself in for quite a while. Never had a chance from post nine at the Meadowlands, but has raced well in the opens locally through the year, and I see her getting back to her winning ways tonight. (3) ANGEL'S PRIDE gets to drop out of the open tonight to a more reasonable spot and switches back to Brennan. (5) LOVIN MISS DAISY N was favored at this level last Friday but didn't enjoy the first-over route. Let's watch to see if Goodell can get her a cleaner trip tonight.
Race 8 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(6) AL-MAR-GOT A FEVER closed well in the lane to finish a solid second to Gold Orchid N last Friday night and now gets further class relief. Think she's going right down the road tonight. (1) DONGAL RUNDLSCRK N fell just short a week ago after making front from post seven. Slides all the way to the rail tonight, improving her prospects. (3) SANDY'S BEACH also gets some post relief tonight and Marohn Jr. hops back aboard.
Race 9 - 30000CLM Pace
(3) SOHO JACKMAN A crunched the $25,000 claimers in his debut for DiDomenico last Friday and takes the appropriate step up the ladder. I'll swing with him again. (2) COOL BLUES MAN returns to claiming company tonight after a good second to NW6 types on July 15. (1) STATESMAN A keeps drawing well but looks just a notch off his best right now.
Race 10 - NW20000L5 Pace
(7) MILITARY MASTER A wound up with a tough post but comes off a win in the open at Saratoga and gets class relief from the last time he was seen at Yonkers last month. Stratton's choice also. (1) LACHIE MAGUIRE N looks like a big threat with a much better post to work with tonight. Owns a win at this level on July 5. (2) CAVIART REAGAN also slides inside on the gate after being saddled with post eight on July 20. Had raced well in four prior efforts to that one.
Race 11 - NW21500L5/30000CLM Trot
(1) SHOWMEYOURGUNS retained the services of Brennan over three others in this race and starts from the pole position. Hoping he'll be up close and pounce in the lane. (4) OMAHA OMAHA finished second to a romping Newcastle last Friday night in a decent effort. Looking to take advantage of just fitting the NW21500L5 condition in this event. (3) LILY'S SWAN POND is probably one level too high to be a win threat but has completed the ticket against these types before.
Race 12 - NW20000L5 Pace
(8) MACH IT SO goes from two straight rail draws to post eight land, but I still have to go with him based on his back class and recent efforts when not in the open. (1) AMERICAN BOY N should be a major contender in this spot getting post and class relief. (6) DON DOMINGO N hung pretty badly in the lane on July 15 after a perfect second-over trip but remains at the same level, which puts him as a threat to hit the ticket.
