Race 1 - 12500CLM Pace
(3) MANHATTAN BENNY picked up a solid-enough second to the red-hot Brookies Prince N last week and gets away from that foe tonight. (2) COACH CAL is another one who has been knocking heads with Brookies Prince and racing well to hit the board against him. (1) CANDELL drops to the bottom claiming level here out of the condition ranks and gets the rail. Looking for a return to those couple miles he went at Harrah's Philly last month.
Race 2 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(1) NEWCASTLE ends up with major post relief tonight, going from the eight to the rail. Hasn't been able to win since coming back to Yonkers off the win at Harrah's Philly on 6-6, but had been knocking on the door before the outside draw last time. (5) PERLUCKY was denied by the classy Mostinterestingman last Friday but gets another crack at this level and kept Brennan. (2) OMAHA OMAHA was the favorite a week ago but broke. If you want to stick with him, you'll probably get some added value.
Race 3 - 20000-25000CLM HCP Pace
(4) GYPSY LEATHER is another Bongiorno trainee (see Newcastle) who got a better draw tonight, ending up with post four after rallying to just fall short from post eight last Friday night. (5) ZOEEZ BOY HENRY moves up just a bit from the straight $20,000 claimers to this handicap level but has two impressive wins in a row. (6) SOHO JACKMAN A joins the potent DiDomenico barn tonight off the claim. Closed with interest last week.
Race 4 - 20000CLM Pace
(3) UNDRAFTED raced much better last week, finishing second to Swift As A Shadow. I'll pick him again, recognizing his price is likely to plummet. (4) ABNER THE GREAT returns to the Bongiorno stable tonight. Owns his seasonal mark here at Yonkers and beat both the NW10000L5 and $40,000 claiming class earlier this year. (2) OUR ART AND HEAVEN woke up in his last two at a lower level and now hikes up to the $20,000 claimers tonight. The inside draw helps.
Race 5 - 30000CLM Pace
(4) HEEZ ORL BLACK N got the cold shoulder from a game Stolen Car in the final quarter a week ago but remains in good form and draws well enough for me to give him another shot. (1) STATESMAN N is another Bongiorno threat early on the card as he performed much better last Friday in the same event my top pick was in and has the pole position. (7) SHOREVIEW hasn't done much for Harris yet but switches to claimers tonight. Took his mark last year here at Yonkers.
Race 6 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(7) DONGAL RUNDLSCRK N drops to the class she does her best work at after a good third last Friday. I'm not expecting you'll get close to the 20-1 morning line odds, but hopefully there will be some value. (3) BROWN BRINNY has been racking up the on-the-board finishes against this company and gets a switch back to Bartlett tonight. (5) I WISH YOU WELL was no match for a classy Bettor's Up last week but got a good mid-pack draw for her closing style.
Race 7 - F&M NW21000L5/30000CLM Pace
(2) MISS YOU N was dominant earlier this year here at Yonkers, then tried the Meadowlands a few times and the Great Northeast Open Series without much success. Draws well for her Westchester return tonight, and I'll go with her. (5) KOTARE YARRA N appears to have regained her form over at Pocono and also comes back to Yonkers tonight. Raced extremely well here back in the spring, hitting the board twice in the preferred. (3) MADE OF JEWELS AS rolled at this level on July 5, but Marohn Jr. did pick off.
Race 8 - F&M Open Handicap Pace
(7) FEELIN RED HOT owns the speed to overcome this post, as demonstrated last week when she was second from post eight, and I'll hope she can do one spot better tonight. (4) DIBABA N stormed home for third a week ago against the Opens and has a good mid-pack draw compared to my top pick or the winner of the class last week. (8) BETTERB CHEVRON N is stuck outside this time after two sharp rallying victories. Will need some good piloting from Stratton to get it done tonight.
Race 9 - F&M NW30000L5 / 3&4YO NW10 Pace
(7) GOLD ORCHID N retreats back to this level after a strong third to Tequila Monday in the Open on 7-5. Does draw poorly, but I think her class will pull her through. (1) LOVIN MISS DAISY N impressed in her Yonkers debut a week ago, rolling over the NW20000L5 group. Steps up tonight but gets the pole. (2) AL-MAR-GOT A FEVER found the opens much too difficult in recent weeks but gets class relief tonight. Was in raging form against these types a few weeks back.
Race 10 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(3) FASHION CREDITOR receives needed class relief tonight and moves inside on the gate, a potent combination that will hopefully result in him returning to the winner's circle. (2) SOUTHWIND CRUZE also has a better post to work with for this try after collecting a fourth against a deep group at this level last Friday night. (5) SHOWMEYOURGUNS took some betting action a week ago but broke before the start. Brennan's choice of two in the race.
Race 11 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(3) ALWAYS WOGGY closed with pace from post eight last Friday and now slides down the class ladder a notch and receives post relief. (1) D GS ELSA stomped the NW10000L5 group on July 9 and steps up. Should be a threat from the inside. (5) SCANDALICIOUS usually performs best at this NW20000L5 level and Brennan returns to the bike.
