Race 1 - 12500CLM Pace
(4) BROOKIES PRINCE N became the dominant horse at this level since the DiDomenico claim, including an easy win last out. I'll go right back to him. (6) MISTER TRUTH drops back to the bottom claiming level after stepping up off the claim by Jennifer Sabot. Was in strong form against these before hiking up. (1) COACH CAL was second-best to my top pick on July 4. Out-draws him tonight with the rail.
Race 2 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(2) SIR JOHN F has been doing some good work in Pennsylvania at comparable levels of racing and ships in to Yonkers tonight in what appears to be a good spot. (1) CR BLAZIN BEAUTY seemed to find his form over at Pocono and then was a rallying second in a track record mile at the Goshen Historic Track. Bartlett goes on. (3) SUMATRA drops tonight, but I'll try to beat him as he hasn't won since back in early May and was defeated in two recent tries at this level, albeit from post seven both times.
Race 3 - 20000CLM Pace
(4) UNDRAFTED gets another crack at the $20,000 claiming company tonight after an even fourth last week. Picks Bartlett back up in the bike, and hopefully he can guide him to the winner's circle. (2) OUR DRAGON KING changes back to claimers for this appearance after a solid third against bottom-level condition foes on July 2. Marohn Jr.'s choice of two. (1) SWIFT AS A SHADOW showed good late pace last Friday but hasn't shown a propensity for winning lately, so I'll go against.
Race 4 - 30000CLM Pace
(5) HEEZ ORL BLACK N moved up to the $40,000 claiming level after his blowout win on 6-21, but found that group a little tough. Drops tonight to the 30s, and hopefully that's enough to put him back into the winner's circle. (1) STOLEN CAR put in a huge first-up effort last Friday against classy foes Warminster A and Black Chevron N, and fell just short. Draws the pole tonight and switches to Bartlett. (2) STATESMAN N had a rough go on June 21 but has had some time off, and the Bongiorno barn is capable of turning him back around at any time.
Race 5 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(1) I WISH YOU WELL finally gets a draw to go her way tonight after being stuck outside her last five starts. Better take advantage. (2) SCUOLA HANOVER finished with interest last Friday night and also gets post relief for this effort. (8) BETTOR'S UP is the class of the field but is stuck outside and would need everything to work out right to win.
Race 6 - 20000-25000CLM HCP Pace
(3) MASTER THE VIEW slides down a notch on the class scale and gets an improved post position to work with tonight, which should make him much more competitive. Nice win at this level back on June 14. (1) STEVE SAID has been out of the Abbatiello barn for a few weeks but gets back there for this try off the claim. Has the pole tonight after two straight post sevens and did finish well last Friday. (7) NY WHITESOX won two straight for Di Domenico and was claimed by Robertson. Has the speed to overcome this post.
Race 7 - F&M NW30000L5 / 3&4YO NW10 Pace
(2) SHEZZA GNP N might be one level too high on the class scale, but she does draw well tonight and turned in a good effort against a romping Write Me A Song three back in a similar spot. Stratton reassumes the driving duties also. (4) NEVERFORGETWHOUR got an aggressive drive last Friday and held well for second. Brennan drives tonight, so I can see similar tactics being employed. (1) QUEEN LOSTRIS N has had a bit of time off after the scratch on 6-21. Hopefully that helped out whatever was ailing her early last month, and she can regain that good form from back in the spring.
Race 8 - F&M Open Handicap Pace
(4) BETTERB CHEVRON N closed with authority last week to win, and although she steps up tonight, that was an authoritative victory, and she draws well. (6) ECLIPSE ME N tied a world record last time out at Pocono, so needless to say she's in the form of her life. Super win here at Yonkers two back as well. (8) FEELIN RED HOT raced well behind Tequila Monday to finish second last Friday night but is stuck with post eight tonight.
Race 9 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(1) OMAHA OMAHA changes classes tonight, going from NW8 to the NW20000L5 level. Gets the pole to work with this time after having post six on July 4 and kept Stratton's services over the morning-line favorite. (4) EXPLOSIVE RIDGE got parked at every call at Harrah's Philly, so I'll just toss that line out. Was racing great at the Meadowlands before that. (3) MONEY MAVEN drops down a notch tonight but Stratton picked off, leaving Dube in charge.
Race 10 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(7) DONT THINK TWICE A plunges in class after meeting up with top level Grand Circuit foes in recent weeks, so even though she draws outside, she's a must-use. (1) KEENE OLIVIA rallied strongly for second a week ago and gets the pole tonight, so I'm expecting her to be closer to the front. (6) LOVIN MISS DAISY N is a recent import to the Chris Oakes barn. Sharp win on July 2 at Pocono from an outside post.
Race 11 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(5) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN lands class relief tonight, dropping down two levels from the open. Mark MacDonald gets the driving assignment tonight, and hopefully he can take him right down the road. (2) PERLUCKY should get plenty of attention tonight as he returns to Yonkers coming off a win. Smedshammer listed Brennan, and Brennan did pick him over another one. (6) LEAN HANOVER gets another chance to race against this company after a dominating try from post eight last Friday. Retained Stratton over my top choice.
Race 12 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(3) ARTRAGEOUS performed well behind the classy Wisdom Tree last Friday with a solid third. Drops a notch tonight and gets to start from post three again. (1) ROCKIN THE BOYS A invades tonight after racing in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for trainer Andrew Harris. Definitely stepped her game up since joining his barn and will be a big threat from the inside tonight. (4) VORST is in sharp form right now. Good third last week from first-over, and two starts ago she came in second behind Eclipse Me N, who went on to match a world record out of that race.
