Race 1 - 20000CLM Pace
(1) P L LESTER showed strong improvement on Sunday at Pocono in his second start back from the qualifier, and I'll hope he takes another step forward tonight to win from the pole. (3) STEVE SAID has run into the streaking Gypsy Leather in his last two but avoids that one tonight. Holland takes over in the bike. (4) POP ICON put in a big effort to win last time out but does take a bit of a class jump as that was a 15000-20000 handicap and this is straight 20's.
Race 2 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(2) STORMY KROMER gets a needed class drop tonight and out-draws what looks to be the other threats. (4) IN MY DREAMS out-fought the classy Fashion Creditor to win a week ago. Enters for the claiming tag again, so stays in against this same company. (6) MARLEY'S GUY also moves out of the preferred, as does my top pick. Easily won in this same class two back.
Race 3 - 25000CLM Pace
(1) HEEZ ORL BLACK N still hasn't won yet this year, but the Robertson barn has been hot, he gets an inside draw after two outside posts since returning to Yonkers, and he did have pace finishing last week. Let's give him a try. (5) SOUTHWIND MASIMO really never had much to offer in his debut for Burke last Friday but takes a drop tonight, and that will probably aid his cause. (6) GYPSY LEATHER won two straight against the 20's and now gives the 25's a try on the barn change to Bongiorno.
Race 4 - 20000CLM Pace
(2) DEERFIELD BEACH raced from well out of it from post seven a week ago but closed strongly. Gets a much better post to work with tonight and kept Brent Holland. (3) TRIPLE SEELSTER takes another step down the class ladder tonight. Raced well on 5-23 but hasn't been able to find that again since switching to claimers. Temming pulled a big upset on Monday night, so that's something to watch. (1) INSPIRATION VIEW won four of five over 25's back in April and May but has been shelved since 5-17. Drops down to the 20's on the comeback.
Race 5 - F&M NW21500L5/30000CLM Pace
(6) I WISH YOU WELL motored home again last week from an impossible spot for second, making that two solid efforts in-a-row. Gets another outside draw tonight, but in just a seven-horse field, she shouldn't be as far back. (3) SANDY'S BEACH got going too late a week ago, but did rally in an improved effort. (2) CABOWABOCUTTIE had a case of deja vu a week ago as she led and got picked off late. She'll have every chance to be on the front again this time.
Race 6 - F&M Open Handicap Pace
(4) GLENFERRIE BLADE A never got involved last week from the outside but draws the ideal post for her stalking and late-closing style tonight. (2) TWINKLE wired many of these in the Open last week and got the best the open draw this week. Big chance to go right down the road again. (5) ALEXA'S POWER followed Twinkle last Friday night but couldn't make up any ground. Might end up in the same boat tonight.
Race 7 - 30000CLM Pace
(7) SLUGGEM N was very impressive last Friday night, drawing away in the lane from first-over. Draws outside this week, but given how strong that mile was, I'll hope Holland can find him a clean trip and he'll retain some of the 7-1 odds. (6) WICK N got claimed by Robertson last week off two straight second-places against the 25's. Steps up but that form could easily carry over. (1) SOMETIMESAWINNER knocked off similiar claiming company last out at Pocono in a strong rallying effort and ships back to Yonkers tonight where he closed and just missed against 25's on 5-17.
Race 8 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(3) ZOE ELLASEN picked up a second in this class two back to the classy Itty Bitty, and I'll look for something like that performance to beat this field. (1) FREAKONOMICS might have needed the race last week, but no doubt she was flat. Gets to move to the pole tonight, so if she's going to wake up, it'll likely be in this spot. (7) MADE OF JEWELS AS has been racing against higher classes than this for quite a while, including a win over the preferreds here at Yonkers back in April.
Race 9 - F&M NW30000L5/3&4YO NW10 Pace
(1) DELIGHTFULMEMPHISN hit the board in the Great Northeast Open Series at Pocono and was fourth in the Betsy Ross in her last two, so this is a way, way softer spot, and she has the inside post to work with also. (6) ALWAYS WOGGY steps up tonight, but both her starts at Yonkers have been very good, including a sustained first-over grind to score a week ago. (8) BETTORHAVEANOTHER probably has enough to speed to overcome the outside post here as evidenced back in April. Been keeping classy company at the Meadowlands and Pocono.
Race 10 - F&M NW30000L5/3&4YO NW10 Pace
(5) FEELIN RED HOT appears to have found a winning spot this week, retreating out of the Open and getting a better draw after an eight and three sevens in her last four tries. (3) GOLDEN PARADISE invades from Indiana for high-percentage trainer Tyler George, who appears to have sent some to Yonkers to race. Really strong win two back and then ran into the opens out there on 6-8. Let's see how she does. (6) ECLIPSE ME gets to drop out of the Great Northeast Open Series and the Betsy Ross to a more realistic spot here tonight.
Race 11 - NW20000L5/30000CLM Trot
(7) FASHION CREDITOR didn't look like he had much of an excuse last Friday when knocked off by In My Dreams but catches a suspect bunch here, even from an outside draw. (4) NEWCASTLE ran into the well-meant Buen Camino a week ago and was third behind him and the classy Lord Cromwell. Looks like an easy group he gets to face off with here. (3) MANOFMANYIMAGES was fourth in that same race as Newcastle last week. Retained Stratton over two others.
Race 12 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace
(1) SIDEWALK DANCER had to work pretty hard to get to the top in the first quarter last Friday night and tired late. Hopefully she has an easier time of it from the inside post this week and can go all the way on the engine. (4) STELLENBOSCH returns to Yonkers tonight after one appearance in the open-2 at Tioga where she rallied. Blackler barn has been on fire here, and she gets reunited with Bartlett. (8) OCEANIA drops but gets the worst of the draw. Hasn't had any early speed lately, so she'll try to rally like she did two back.
