SPOT PLAYS: 1 - 2 / $4.70 (+0.70)
Race 1
(5) DEERFIELD BEACH was stout from off-the-pace last time out in his first start for Allard, stays at the same level, and Tetrick stays on. I'll go right back to him again. (4) DONAU gets a slight drop from $25,000-30,000 claiming handicap company to straight 25s, and was a solid third to a win machine in Toatsmygoats last week. (1) PICKLED PREACHER has been a hot horse at the claim box, getting claimed in three straight. Gets an inside draw this week after having to deal with post seven and post six in two tries at this level.
Race 2
(3) CHESTNUT SCHOFIELD finished up well after taking back from post seven against tougher company last time. With a drop in class and a better post, I think he completes an Allard daily double. (1) OOH RAH returns to Yonkers after one appearance in the Preferred at Freehold. This is class relief for him as well, plus the pole position. His last try against NW20000L5 at Yonkers was a solid closing second. (4) DW'S NY YANK is the class of the field, and he rarely sees this low of a level, but the 10-year-old really had no excuse last time when passed easily off a soft opening-half.
Race 3
(7) BETTOR ROCK ON N will be my pick to try and down the favorites here. Obviously not the best post, but he gets to move down from the $40,000 claiming level to the $30,000 claiming level, there's nobody in razor-sharp form here, and he had plenty of pace on the end of the mile last time out. (5) ABNER THE GREAT got cooked in a speed duel Saturday night and had no chance. Switches back to Dube tonight, who has a win and a second with him, and also takes a drop from the 40s to the 30s. (3) DOJEA SOLO blasted out well from post seven last week but ran into Toatsmygoats and was no match for that buzzsaw after yielding to sit the pocket to him. Returns to the Adamczyk barn off the claim and gets post relief.
Race 4
(2) ELYSIUM LINDY returns to Yonkers for the first time since November after battling tough competition mainly at Dover. That last appearance in Westchester was at a level similiar to this one and he cruised by open lengths. (4) BLACK MAMBA AS is also back at Yonkers after racing at Dover and Harrah's Philadelphia. Was racing in higher classes at Yonkers before departing and got the nod from Jordan Stratton over three others. (7) MONEY MAVEN had the rail against the Opens at Yonkers last week but made an early break and was eliminated. Won two straight before that, including in this class on March 22.
Race 5
(1) CAMERA LADY finally draws an inside post in the Matchmaker, and I think she has a shot to take advantage while in search of points for the final. Closed well from the rear last week after making a big first-over middle move the week prior. (5) SEASWIFT JOY N had absolutely no chance last week from post eight and with Shartin N in there. Better post this Friday night and no Shartins, either. (6) BETTERB CHEVRON N battled gamely from first-over last week but was no match for the talented Bettor Joy N. Gets the outside draw but her form is good.
Race 6
(7) BETTORHAVEANOTHER is in some serious form, having lorded over the top class at Dover for Burke. Now heads north to Yonkers where she has had plenty of success as well. Seems to have the tactical speed needed to overcome the outside post against many who regularly take back. (5) KOTARE YARRA N wasn't disappointing at all in her debut at this level last Friday night, closing for second from well back. Has speed too, maybe we'll see more of that this week. (4) QUEEN LOSTRIS N put forth a great effort to win in this class last week from first-over, but runs into my top pick tonight and may not fare as well.
Race 7
(4) KAITLYN N has tried her heart out against Shartin N the last two weeks, but she's proven too tough as she often does. No Shartin this week, so time to take advantage. (5) FEELIN RED HOT looked like she was sitting on a big one in the pocket last week but couldn't go by in the stretch. Will probably be on the front this time and has won twice in the Matchmaker already. (1) CAVIART CHERIE gets to drop back down to the rail this week, and I think she can follow in to complete the ticket.
Race 8
(1) SOLID ASA ROCK A had a good effort from first-over last week in his Yonkers debut, now gets the rail and was Bartlett's choice over two others. Should be ready to roll in his fourth stateside start for Banca. (3) MCSPIDEY gets to drop back down to a level where he did well in February and March and drew well to boot. Loses Kakaley but Stratton is a more than capable replacement. (5) VEGAS ROCKS also gets class relief for a hot barn and was Kakaley's choice over McSpidey.
Race 9
(2) APPLE BOTTOM JEANS skipped the Matchmaker leg but is back this week and appears to be a standout over this group. Drew inside and lures Callahan over from the Meadowlands again as well. (5) NEWBORN SASSY hasn't had the fortune her stablemates Shartin and Bettor Joy have, but she can definitely get involved here underneath my top pick. (3) MEDUSA should be in position to stalk the pace and land on the bottom of the ticket again.
Race 10
(1) A CRAFTY LADY hasn't won since January, but if she's going get back on track, it's going to come here. Gets a rail draw off a post eight last week and should have every chance to try speed like she did on March 22. (4) ON YOUR SIX is another Dover invader on the card. Nothing wrong with her form down in Delaware, and Wolfenden must like her to make a rare appearance somewhere else. (5) BRONZE OVER N closed from way out of it to get third in this same class last Friday night and probably needed the race off the qualifier and distanced finish on March 15. Should be tighter tonight.
Race 11
(3) BETABCOOL N ships to Yonkers after racing well at Saratoga Harness and Pocono recently. Battled in that top class at Saratoga, which corresponds well to this group, has Bartlett at the controls, and a good post to work with. (7) E DEE'S WELL SAID was the runner-up in last year's Jugette and comes to Yonkers from The Meadows off two wins in a row, both in impressive fashion. (1) CLAREBEAR hooked the likes of Bettor Joy and Apple Bottom Jeans earlier this year at Dover and has been racing well since getting away from those types. First-over win last time out at Pocono was a very good effort.
Race 12
(6) DONGAL RUNDLSCRK N met up with a well-meant winner last out at the Meadowlands and was a solid second. Picks up Kakaley, who almost won the preferred with her at Yonkers on March 15, gets a class drop compared to her previous appearances at Yonkers, and I like her form more than some others in here. (2) ROCKSTAR ANGEL A drops out of the Matchmaker but hasn't raced since March 22. Both of her Matchmaker tries against better were good but the time off concerns me. (7) LISPATTY just missed last week after cutting the fractions. Stays at this same class, and will probably blast again, even from the seven-hole.
