Race 1 - $12,500 Claiming
(2) NORTHERN ASSASSIN A saved ground from a tough spot last week and finished with mild pace; he gets major post relief tonight and Bartlett sticks with the Banca trainee over four others in here. (3) KABOOM POW has been racing pretty well over at The Meadowlands and he looks like he could be a good fit with these. (4) MANHATTAN BENNY returned locally last week in a new barn and quickly turned things around beating a bit softer. (6) REDONKULOUS goes for a new barn now after faltering as the odds-on choice last out; drawing outside of his main rivals doesn’t help.
Race 2 – NW16250 in last 5 starts
(5) CRUISING IN STYLE has a solid local record and the Harris trainee is reunited with Bartlett for his Yonkers return after facing some good ones recently out of town; I would expect him to be in play early. (1) UNCLE LEO is back at the level of his upset win two back and he draws best here. (6) WINNING LYRIC shows an odds-on win at The Meadowlands two back and he was Stratton’s choice. (2) MARLEY’S GUY fits with these but he may be a bit short off the layoff.
Race 3 – F&M NW20000 in last 5 starts
(1) RENAISSANCE LADY K loomed boldly turning home facing better last week but couldn’t seal the deal; she drops back down in class, gets Bartlett back in the bike and is clearly the one to beat. (6) BARON REMY has been right there in all recent efforts and the Burke trainee goes for two straight but she’ll have to work harder tonight to get it done. (4) MILLIONDOLLARGEM A tired with little excuse last week while drifting noticeably late and now she faces better; use underneath only. (2) STELLENBOSCH also faces better here but she’s been sharp.
Race 4 - $10,000 Claiming
(3) BEYONDTHESILENCE N pretty much went through the motions last week from the eight hole in what was clearly a needed start and the Tritton trainee will be much more involved tonight. (5) SUGAR CRISP took some money and was aggressively handled last out in what was an improved try; similar effort tonight makes him a player. (2) DAVIDS COMING HOME has been racing well at Freehold and now he gets Bartlett in the bike. (1) MORE DRAGON has always been a bit of an erratic sort but he did finish very nicely last week.
Race 5 - $20,000 Claiming
(3) ER ROCK MY WORLD was much-improved in his second seasonal start for the Chris Height barn and the veteran lands in a good spot to show off some of his early speed. (6) DOJEA SOLO was used hard last week and gave way as the entire race collapsed; gelding has been overdue for ages and will get the job done eventually. (5) TALENT SOUP didn’t fire at all facing better off the Ruiz claim while chasing a well-rated pace; he drops back in class tonight and is capable of better. (2) ONLYTHETOUGHSURVIVE was claimed away from Banca after breaking while vying for the lead; mixed feelings here.
Race 6 - $25,000 Claiming
(4) REGGIANO couldn’t reach last week facing better from an outside post but his prior efforts were very sharp; post and class relief should obviously help his chances tonight. (5) DON’TCALLMEFRANCIS was an easy winner off the Allard claim and it would be no surprise to see him repeat. (1) TRIPLE SEELSTER raced well off the Devita claim and should work out a good trip again from the best post. (3) AMERICAN INFLUENCE is up in claiming price tonight off last week’s monster finish.
Race 7 – F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts
(1) D GS ELSA gets class and post relief in her second seasonal start; down the road. (2) BELLATRICKS should be close-up stalking the top one and can complete the exacta. (3) QUEEN JOSEPHINE raced pretty well in last week’s needed start and can be tighter tonight. (5) ANNABETH was facing better when last seen locally.
Race 8 – F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts
(7) TIPP CITY was a bit overmatched in last week’s Preferred but she has two recent wins versus this type and should offer some decent value starting from the outside. (2) NEVERFORGETWHOUR qualified effectively and could be ready for action; Bartlett drives. (5) POPPY DRAYTON N fits here and could be on the scene late. (8) SUDDEN CHANGE N hails from the live DiDomenico barn and has Brennan driving again but is stuck in the worst post.
Race 9 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(4) SHADY CITY went a huge eight-hole parked-out trip last week and the veteran clearly deserves top billing off that effort. I have a feeling he’ll be overbet, however. (5) ACTING OUT is up in class off a solid win and Bartlett sticks with the Banca trainee. (3) SCOUTS REPORT is also up a notch off a win and he tries Brennan in the bike tonight. (7) HEREHECOMESAROCKIN hasn’t done much lately but that’s been against better; tough spot here but perhaps he can land a minor award.
Race 10 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(2) ELYSIUM LINDY has looked so good in his three starts since moving to the Harris barn that I think he has another class or two in him. (4) THE LAST CHAPTER rallied well to be second best to the odds-on winner last out but he loses Bartlett to the top choice. (1) FINNICK ODAIR was an injured scratch last week but it’s good to see him right back in the box; he still has something to prove versus this type, however. (5) MAJESTIC MOMENT N can pick off the rest.
Race 11 – F&M Preferred Handicap
(6) CAY’S BLESSING was very well-meant last week and just missed in a solid try; she gets the worst of the draw here but that should help her price. (4) FEELIN RED HOT was used hard to clear the lead in her local return and paid the price late; big threat to go all the way if she hits the front easier. (5) ROBYN CAMDEN had a solid 4-year-old season and did qualify nicely; she’ll win soon, if not tonight. (1) ROCKIN THE BOYS A faces much tougher here going for three straight.
Race 12 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(2) KEEP ON ROCKING A has been facing some good ones over at The Meadowlands recently and the Scicluna trainee will appreciate the class relief; short price in the finale. (3) ASTON HILL DAVE gets needed class and post relief. (1) MAURICE may be a touch below the top ones here but he lands the best post again and should land a share. (5) TITANIUM N has been off a couple of months but he qualified ok and he could prove best of the rest.
