Race 1 - 12500CLM Pace
(2) RIPROY gets an inside post to work with tonight after a six and a seven in his first two appearances off the bench. I'll look for a return to the more aggressive approach he took on 11-8. (1) STEVE SAID woke up with a much-improved effort when dropped to this level last Friday. He shifts inside to the rail this week and keeps Brennan. (3) HORSING AROUND closed in the lane to complete the trifecta a week ago, and this looks like another spot where he'll be able to do that.
Race 2 - NW15000L5/25000CLM/Winners of NW10000L5 in Last Start Trot
(6) BARRY BLACK continues to move down the class ladder after reaching the Open level three back. He was third to NW3000L5's on 11-2, and hopefully he can turn in that kind of performance tonight. (8) WINNING SHADOW sticks in this class after a facile win last Friday. He does move back out to post eight again, though he has been able to make front from out here before. (1) DYNAMIC EDGE ships back in from Pocono off a win last time out. This is probably a class hike compared to that, but Ford's barn has started to make a little noise lately, and he lands Bartlett.
Race 3 - 20000CLM Pace
(1) LET'S FOAL AROUND looks like another contender early for the Bartlett/Banca duo. He was a solid second last Friday and draws the rail this week. (3) GYPSY LEATHER has post relief after being stuck out in the eight-hole a week ago. Stratton opted off, but Holland has handled him before. Nice win against many of these two back. (7) WIND BLAST races in a straight $20,000 claimer after being in the $20,000-$25,000 handicap a week ago. I think he'll be looking for cover and pace to chase.
Race 4 - NW21100L5/30000CLM/Winners of NW15000L5 in Last Start Trot
(2) LE REVEUR N has not made a start in 2019 but qualified back nicely at Pocono and then here at Yonkers. I'm just hoping Allard has him ready and that if the horse has some physical issues that maybe they want to strike while the iron's hot. (4) DW'S NY YANK returns to Westchester tonight after one start down at Harrah's Philly. Never got involved from post eight when last seen locally, but the veteran got a good draw tonight. (3) SUMATRA finished an even fourth against a fairly salty bunch last Friday in this class. I don't think this field is quite as tough, and though Brennan picked off, he gets reunited with Bartlett.
Race 5 - 25000CLM Pace
(1) TRIPLE SEELSTER kicked home nicely off cover last Friday and now switches to the pole position tonight. I think that might mean a return to the speed this horse showed in his recent winning efforts. (5) LONG TRAIN RUNNIN converted a pocket trip into a win a week ago and now steps up. He's beaten $25,000-$30,000 claiming handicap company before, so I don't think this is too difficult for him, and Kakaley stayed on. (6) HALF A BILLION closed from eighth at the half to second at the wire back on 11-8. He's shown speed before as well, so if Brennan wants to change things up, he certainly can.
Race 6 - F&M Preferred Handicap Pace
(7) WRITE ME A SONG normally shows enough early foot to overcome a draw like this, and her recent efforts against open types have all been solid. (2) LADY DELA RENTA A disappointed as the favorite in the last edition of the open on 11-8. She gets another new pilot tonight with Stratton taking over and drew well. (5) SUDDEN CHANGE N won at long odds two back and then was third in the open at 45-1 on November 8. She can probably find a good spot again with the speed she has.
Race 7 - 30000-40000CLM HCP Pace
(2) MACHLICIOUS drew an inside post for the first time in several appearances tonight, and hopefully he can sit a better trip tonight instead of having to do the hard work first-over. (8) NORMANDY BEACH stepped up to the $75,000 claimers, finished fourth, and now drops. He has an outside post, but it also looks like he has the speed to get placed near or on the lead. (5) TAKEITTOTHEFACE beat $25,000 claimers impressively on 11-8, then hiked up and had little chance from post eight. He gets some class relief and a much better draw tonight.
Race 8 - F&M NW15000L5/25000CLM/Winners of NW10000L5 in Last Start Pace
(5) BRONZE OVER N lands in a spot here where she might get back on-track. This is some class relief from her recent appearances at Yonkers and Kakaley takes over. (6) BARON REMY slides down again here in search of the right level at Yonkers. She's hit the board twice recently. (2) SHEZALLAPPLES A moves inside to post two tonight. She closed to get third last Friday, but Bartlett might take a shot and send her here.
Race 9 - F&M NW15000L5/25000CLM/Winners of NW10000L5 in Last Start Pace
(4) SHEZZA GNP N picked up a couple confidence-boosting wins at the Meadowlands and now returns to Yonkers. Stratton chose her over others, and she has an ideal post to continue the front-end tactics she employed at The Big M or to switch back to her off-the-pace style. (5) SCANDALICIOUS looks like she has a similar profile to her stablemate Bronze Over N as she lands in this class on a bit of a drop. Kakaley drives again, and he won with her at Pocono. (2) SAFE FROM TERROR has a barn change that worked for Long Train Runnin last week, going from Rob Harmon to Virgil Morgan Jr. She has a second on the page to NW30000L5's, and gets Brennan to drive.
Race 10 - F&M NW2000L5/30000CLM/Winners of NW15000L5 in Last Start Pace
(4) KIMBERLEE scored in the similar class to this one at Pocono back on 10-29. She has winning experience at Yonkers as well, downing NW30000L5's back on 8-17. (3) MADE OF JEWELS AS has been stuck with trailing or outside posts in her last three but draws well tonight and picks up Bartlett. (6) LAKEISHA HALL has been able to hit the board in three of her four starts here and keeps Brennan, and I'll put her underneath again tonight.
Race 11 - NW15000L5/25000CLM/Winners of NW10000L5 in Last Start Trot
(1) TROTTING GRACE took a much more conservative approach last week after winning in her first start off the qualifiers on 11-8. She moves all the way to the rail and was Kakakley's choice in here, so I have to think she'll be forwardly-placed this time around. (4) LORD CROMWELL loses Kakakley to my top pick but was a good third from first-up against a well-meant Icanflylikeanangel last Friday. He gets a bit of class relief as well. (5) MONEY MAVEN was in the preferred when last at Yonkers, so this is a significantly easier spot tonight. He won over NW20000L5's convincingly on 10-25.
Race 12 - F&M NW30000L5 / 3&4YO F&M NW10 Pace
(4) ANGEL'S PRIDE led and came up second-best to a rallying Annie Hill a week ago. She gets Brennan to drive tonight, and this looks like a pretty soft edition of this class. (8) ITTY BITTY has found her back-class in her last two races, winning both of them. She steps up and moves outside tonight, but I could see her rallying for a piece of the ticket. (2) KEENE OLIVIA steps up tonight but offsets that by drawing a much better post than she had last Friday. She has two recent wins off pocket trips and could land in that position tonight.
