Race 1 - $20,000 Claiming
(4) STATESMAN N came up a bit short last week when bumped back up to the $25K claiming level but the veteran was a good front-end winner two back versus this type for Team Bongiorno. (1) LET’S FOAL AROUND has been racing reasonably well since the Chris Height claim and he gets serious post relief tonight which should make him a major player. (8) MATT MAJOR has been razor-sharp at for Banca and now goes for Hudson off the claim while staying at the winning level; he does have the early speed to help overcome the dreaded eight hole. (5) DIAMOND COWBOY has been a bit disappointing lately but Bartlett sticks for Banca and he deserves a look.
Race 2 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(1) SHOWMEYOURGUNS didn’t fire his best shot last start in a quick mile but overall he’s done very well with Brennan driving and he sticks with him over a couple of others, including a DiDomenico trainee. (7) ADAGIO DE LA TOUR handled the bump up in class off the Height claim with a solid second-place finish; veteran deserves serious consideration here, despite the outside post. (2) MEADOWBRANCH RICKY has missed some time off a sick scratch but the 4-year-old can be a player if ready. (8) BLENHEIM fits with these but will likely be done in by post eight; consider underneath.
Race 3 - $25,000 Claiming
(3) HALF A BILLION is a proven commodity at this $25K claiming level and the Fusco trainee gets some needed post relief which should make him more of a player; gelding looks like one of many in here with a legit chance in this competitive event. (6) WIND BLAST is razor-sharp for Lance Hudson and he steps up a notch looking for three straight. (5) ONLYTHETUFFSURVIVE was overbet and failed miserably last week; price will be much better tonight. (4) LONG TRAIN RUNNIN beat better two back then didn’t fire last week off dull cover; Marohn’s choice.
Race 4 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) FIREBALL debuts for the DiDomenico barn off the claim and picks up leading driver Brennan; this angle has connected about 1,000 times in the past. (4) MIDNIGHT LIGHTNING gets Bartlett in the bike which makes the Vallee trainee worthy of consideration. (3) DECOY ships from Philly where he was facing some tough competition and perhaps the change in scenery will help. (1) ROZEWOOD is a bit on the cheaper side but the veteran has been very sharp.
Race 5 - $25,000/$30,000 Claiming
(2) AMERICAN VENTURE has really turned things around recently and is a legit threat to take these wire-to-wire. (3) DO OVER HANOVER is an inconsistent sort and he can be excused for last week’s effort, where he got hung to dry; Allard trainee is a threat if in the mood. (7) WINDSONG JACK was a solid front-end winner off the Izzy Estrada claim but it’s tough to say what type of trip he’s looking at tonight. (4) LACHIE MAGUIRE N interestingly drops in for a tag off a layoff and a less-than-inspiring qualifier.
Race 6 – F&M Open Handicap Pace
(1) ROBYN CAMDEN was a bit cold on the board last week and raced accordingly; mare gets lucky landing the best post and seems capable with a live trip. (6) TEQUILA MONDAY could not sustain a long uncovered move into a well-rated pace; obviously the Oakes trainee can rebound here. (5) WRITE ME A SONG was a perfect-trip second best last week and the Burke trainee should be a player again. (7) IMPRINCESSGEMMA A has been awesome since arriving for Team Bongiorno but the outside post assignment will make things tough.
Race 7 – F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts
(3) COLOR ENVY gave it a sharp try last out but the Hudson trainee was outbattled to the wire; I’ll give her another chance. (1) ROSE RUN TONI picked up Bartlett last week, quarter-moved to command and held in determined fashion beating my top choice; obvious threat to repeat. (2) ANN HILL has been sharp for an extended period of time for a hot barn. (4) KOTARE YARRA N flashed good speed in recent local races.
Race 8 – F&M NW30000 in last 5 starts
(4) CLEAR IDEA returns locally from Saratoga and was racing very well here flashing good speed at both ends; this is a good starting spot in this bulky field and the mare can take these wire-to-window. (7) MACH IT A PAR can never be counted out at this level and hopefully Bartlett can get her in play early. (10) DEMI HILL is a filly with something to prove versus this type but she seems to have the ability and will be a juicy price. (1) LIBERTY ROSE N certainly needed last week’s start and can have more to offer tonight.
Race 9 – F&M NW16625 in last 5 starts
(4) ROCKIN THE BOYS A finished belatedly last week from a no-chance spot and now she gets class and post relief while keeping Bartlett; lots to like here. (2) KEENE OLIVIA has speed and draws well which should set her up with a nice trip. (3) A CRAFTY LADY didn’t threaten in her local return as the tepid favorite but did hold for a board spot; Garcia-Herrera trainee can hit the ticket. (5) BROWN BRINNY makes her third start off the Croghan claim and so far has shown little; class relief can help.
Race 10 – F&M NW20000 in last 5 starts
(4) NEON SKY N has been in good form for some time now while ascending the class ladder and with smooth sailing she can be a price player in this competitive finale. (6) SHADY CAROLINE was used hard and just kept going to dispose of lesser; sharp mare could be good enough to be a factor here. (5) ANNIE HILL finished with a :27 final split to beat these last week; obvious contender. (1) QUITE A SIGHT gets needed post relief, as does (3) LYONS RIVER PRIDE.
