Race 1 - 12500CLM Pace
(4) HIGHVIEW CONALL N owns a win over the $15,000 claimers at Harrah's Philadelphia on the 19th of July and took his season's mark at Yonkers in 2019. I will give him a shot on top. (1) POP ICON makes a lateral move over from the NW5000L5 class. He has finished up his miles pretty well in the last two and maybe he can work out a pocket trip. (3) NATURAL LEDA has had zero shot since coming back as he had post eight and then post seven. He gets plenty of post relief here, and that could put him in play.
Race 2 - NW5000L5 Pace
(1) BELTANE A races for a driver/trainer duo in Stratton and Hudson who had three wins together on the Thursday (September 3) card. This horse gets to drop off recent appearances against NW9000L5's at Pocono and was second against their NW6000L5 group three back. (2) SUNKEN TREASURE took one shot against NW10000L5's and now returns to the NW5000L5 level where he won easily on August 4. He's also reunited with Scott Zeron. (6) JM'S DELIGHT has been facing the best foes, showing a line against the likes of the NW17500L5's at Pocono on the 8th of August. He certainly seems logical with any repeat of the fourth-place effort against those.
Race 3 - NW5000L5 Pace
(3) OCTANE BLUE CHIP finished second to a well-meant William McWhiskers on August 18 when he dropped down to the NW5000L5 class. He draws slightly better here and might be able to wire this group. (1) DEMOCRACY N has just one win in his last 52 starts, but did gain spots and ground against $15,000 claimers last time out at Harrah's Philadelphia, and this should be an easier spot than that. (2) SMILEANDSAYCHEESE shifts inside this time after having posts seven and five in his last pair. Siegelman sent him to the lead and then yielded three back at Harrah's Philadelphia, so maybe he tries that here.
Race 4 - NW5000L5 Pace
(1) SGT PAPPA DADDY competes for a trainer who hasn't made much noise locally yet but does have a high percentage elsewhere. This horse got a check against NW17500L5's at Yonkers on August 20 and against the Opens at Saratoga after that, so he should be pretty tough against NW5000L5's from the rail and with Bartlett driving. (6) MACH TIME N has been showing plenty of early foot in his last two, so I don't expect post six to be much of an issue. He just gave way late in that most recent performance. (2) MIDNIGHT LIGHTNING drew in off the also-eligible list into a favorable post. He has just one win on the year, but it was against the NW5000L5 class at the Meadowlands.
Race 5 - 20000CLM Pace
(6) RECORD MACHINE tallied impressively from first-up against the $20,000 claimers down at Harrah's Philadelphia most recently. He was scratched sick out of a scheduled race on 8-30, but since he's back racing so soon, I'll trust everything is okay with him. (5) HALF A BILLION didn't have much of a chance last time from post seven. He was second against a group of NW17500L5's at Yonkers on July 17, and maybe he can get back to something like that performance from a better draw. (3) ACTING OUT was driven conservatively from an outside post on the 31st of August but gets post relief this time. He grabbed a fifth and a fourth in the $20,000 claimers at Harrah's Philadelphia and adds the hot-driving Jordan Stratton.
Race 6 - NW5000L5 Pace
(4) WHAT'S GOIN ON grabbed a third from post seven last Tuesday and has an improved post position and races on a regular rotation after having nearly a month off before that latest performance. Hopefully he still has some of the value he had. (1) DELIGHTFUL JOE shows some good miles up at Saratoga and was in their Open two back. That last line looks like a throwout as he was parked for the first-half of the mile, but tonight he has the pole position and Bartlett to drive. (6) MACINTOSH N came in second in that same contest my top pick comes out of. He gets another shot at the NW5000L5's here and has a winning history at Yonkers.
Race 7 - NW10000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5 Pace
(3) ZOEEZ BOY HENRY makes his third start off the shelf tonight and finally had a draw go his way after having post eight and post seven on 8-21 and 8-28. I'll expect a much better effort and use. (1) GOKUDO HANOVER returns to Yonkers tonight after making his last two starts up at Saratoga. He was third against NW10000L5's when last at Yonkers in late July and has Brennan to drive. (2) MR WIGGLE PANTS won on the drop down to NW5000L5 and now hikes up. It seems like the Harris trainees are on an upswing again, so hopefully he does better tonight than the last time he was at this level.
Race 8 - Preferred Handicap Trot
(7) STORMY KROMER ships back into Yonkers this time after setting a track record at Freehold in their Preferred. This horse has been in wicked form for a while now and had the fortune to avoid post eight. (6) OBRIGADO enters off three straight wins. This veteran has oodles of back-class, though he loses Dube to Stormy Kromer. Mark MacDonald has driven this horse to some big victories in the past and is back with him tonight. (4) MUSCLE M UP hasn't won in 2020 but has kept some good company, racing against the likes of Forbidden Trade and Mission Accepted. He exits a fast race for the level over at Pocono and switches drivers to Bartlett.
Race 9 - NW17500L5/30000CLM Pace
(5) IDEAL JIMMY got a win in this class back on August 11 and then was second to classy foes in Springsteen and Flaming Flutter N after that. I don't see anybody like that in here this time, so I'm expecting him to be able to wire these. (3) MARK WITHA K is in good form for trainer Ken Koch with a win three back, followed by a rallying second and a closing third. He has a much better post this time after starting from the eight-hole most recently. (1) SANTAFE'S COACH steps up again but has won two in-a-row. He starts from the pole position, so he might be able to sit an inside trip and follow along for a piece.
