Yonkers: Analysis for Wednesday 5/5

Greg Reinhart|May 03, 2021
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 72 - 277 / $440.10 (-$113.90)
BEST BETS: 13 - 28 / $47.20 (-$8.80)
SPOT PLAYS: 3 - 28 / $18.20 (-$37.80)
BEST BET -
WINGDING HANOVER (8th)
SPOT PLAY - MOSSDALE LOTTEE N (5th)

Race 1 - F&M NW2/25000LT Pace

(7) OLIVIA BLU won her career debut at Harrah's Philadelphia pretty easily after a pocket trip, and pretty much everything Jenn and Joe Bongiorno are putting on the track seems live. (4) MARILYN'S JO has wound up first-over in her last two since winning back on April 7. I think she'd appreciate any smoother trip. (2) BEAUTY BAYAMA has an age advantage on the competition in here as the only 4-year-old, and she did get sent off as the favorite on the 21st of April. She's another one coming off a race where she was first-up and wound up off the board.

Race 2 - NW8000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/15000CLM Trot

(2) SHOWMEYOURGUNS squeezed into this class by $65 and has hit the board in his last four. He wasn't Scott Zeron's choice, but I don't mind that he ends up with an aggressive driver in Brent Holland. (1) SVF CASH DEPOSIT steps up tonight after finishing second in two cracks at the bottom level. He does start from the pole, so he could be set up for an inside, stalking trip. (6) FOMOR came to life last Wednesday with a romping win over a group of NW5000L5's. He switched up tactics to race on the point that night, so that gives driver Jordan Stratton some options with him.

Race 3 - F&M NW2/25000LT Pace

(6) PARTY QUEEN had a pretty good 2-year-old campaign, including a fourth-place result in the New York Sire Stakes final. There's a chance she might need a race since she hasn't made a pari-mutuel start so far in 2021, but I'll gamble that she's ready and put on top. (5) DELIGHTFUL Z TAM closed well to finish second to a well-backed favorite last week and won the start before that. I expect her to get plenty of wagering attention. (4) BEACH MOMENT cut the fractions and finished as the runner-up behind a stakes-caliber filly in Heart Of Mine last Wednesday. That was another strong result after a good second at Pocono on 4-20, and I'll include.

Race 4 - NW7500L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/15000CLM Trot

(3) MUFASA AS drops a notch and gets some post relief tonight, making him a contender, especially if he can turn in another performance like that third-place effort two back. (5) LADY EAGLE exits the same event as my top pick and also gets reunited with Joe Bongiorno, who has gotten along well with her. (2) MADHATTER BLUECHIP continued his good form that started on 4-15 at Monticello here at Yonkers last Wednesday as he was victorious in a NW5000L5 race. He retained Jason Bartlett over others in here and does have another inside draw.

Race 5 - F&M NW4/58150LT Pace

(7) MOSSDALE LOTTEE N raced very well in her first start of 2021 a week ago, finishing second to a solid foe in Somebeachsomefra. She does start from the outside post, but I'll bank on some improvement with that start under her belt off-setting that. (3) WAKEMESHAKEME gets post relief tonight after having the seven and the eight in her last pair, and that should put her back in the hunt like she was on 4-7. (5) PRAY THE ROSARY took a bunch of wagering action in her first try for trainer Nick Devita but wound up third after going to the point. I wouldn't be surprised if she was stronger here.

Race 6 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot

(3) TORKIL finished with plenty of trot last Wednesday, just running out of racetrack before he could catch Madhatter Bluechip. That was his second straight good effort, and he draws a bit better here, too. (5) INNISFALLEN returns from the Meadowlands in this spot. He raced against NW7500L5's a couple times back in March and got checks on both occasions, so he's probably a threat at the bottom level. (4) VINNY DE VIE came in third in the same race Torkil was in a week ago. He's had the seven-hole in his last three, so he should appreciate a better post to start from tonight.

Race 7 - NW6/75000LT Pace

(2) SO DELIGHTFUL jogged in a NW5 race on 4-18 at Harrah's Philadelphia and then was second to a stakes filly in Grace Hill in a subsequent start. She also had a few starts on half-mile tracks in Canada for former trainer Bob McIntosh. (4) ROSE RUN VICTORIA bounced back after breaking stride here on April 14 with a gaining third-place finish in this class a week ago. (7) MOANING LISA closed in 28 seconds to take fourth in the same race Rose Run Victoria comes out of. She'll probably be looking for live cover to follow from another outside draw.

Race 8 - F&M NW8/106800LT Pace

(1) WINGDING HANOVER shows racing against very tough foes over at the Meadowlands, including eventual Blue Chip Matchmaker Series champion Machnhope on 3-5, so I think this is a much more reasonable spot here. She also has the pole and was Bartlett's pick over others. (4) DRAGON ROLL has missed the board just once in 13 starts since joining trainer Ricky Bucci's stable. She lost Bartlett tonight, but got a quality replacement in Todd McCarthy. (5) TURNTHEFROWNAROUND was third in a NW8 race at Yonkers on the 14th of April and kept George Brennan over one he had been loyal to in Pettycoat Business.

Race 9 - NW10000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW7500L5/20000CLM Trot

(3) LINDSEY'S PRIDE continues his way down the class ladder here. He was second in the Open as recently as April 2, so I have to think this is a must-win spot. (4) LIMERENCE went to the lead a week ago for Steve Smith and wound up third. I can't guarantee the same tactics are coming, but I think he's usable. (2) BLUE AND BOLD gained ground in the last quarter in that same event Limerence was in and moves in from post seven to the two-hole.
