Yonkers: Analysis for Wednesday 3/31

Greg Reinhart|Mar 29, 2021
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 52 - 180 / $324.20 (-$35.80)
BEST BETS: 9 - 18 / $34.60 (-$1.40)
SPOT PLAYS: 2 - 18 / $9.90 (-$26.10)
BEST BET -
GOLDEN QUEST N (8th)
SPOT PLAY - KENOGAMI COCO (4th)

Race 1 - F&M NW2/27500LT Pace

(6) WAKEMESHAKEME won seven of her ten starts in 2020 and missed the board just once. She's now on the East Coast with Pat Lachance and scored in a qualifier at Pocono. She'll likely have to step up in class next time regardless of the result here, so I imagine the connections will be looking for a victory. (2) ADMITYOUREWRONG hasn't been able to win yet for trainer Scott Di Domenico, but she was second two back, and his barn is quite hot right now. (3) BACI BACI got a mile over the track last Wednesday and now moves inside in her second start after a layoff. Notice she had a strong enough 2-year-old campaign to make the Indiana Sires Stakes Super Final.

Race 2 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot

(7) BULLY BOY broke stride on the off track a week ago, but he just scored an easy win over NW5000L5's on the 17th of the March, so I'll look in his direction and hope for no mistakes. (5) SHOWMEYOURGUNS navigated the sloppy conditions last Wednesday to finish fourth. He gets another crack at the bottom level here. (6) DEW CAN DEW hasn't won much in her career, but she did close well in the final quarter to get third in the same race Showmeyourguns exits and has Dan Dube back to drive again.

Race 3 - NW7500L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/15000CLM Trot

(4) ABBIE'S CELTICLASS finished up her mile in 28 3/5 a couple weeks ago and battled hard from first-over to finish third prior to that. I think she's a contender here and picks up Todd McCarthy in the bike. (1) ER SOPHIA made front and won comfortably over NW5000L5 rivals last Wednesday. She has to step up here, but I think she's got some class to her based on that third-place performance against NW6's on 3-4, so I will include. (2) DIRTY SECRET has a barn change tonight as she was claimed by Jason Robinson. The connections listed Matt Kakaley, but he is not here, so she gets a chance with Dexter Dunn.

Race 4 - John Brennan Series Trot

(6) KENOGAMI COCO comes down from Canada after a private purchase by high-percentage connections. Looks like he qualified well at Pocono, and he lured Dube off a horse he just won with, so I'll give him a try. (4) SOME CHAPTER should be the favorite here given his 12-5-1 record from 19 starts. He has had a little time off since being scratched sick on 3-13, so I'll hope that makes him vulnerable. (2) WINDSONG PIONEER scored nicely after a pocket trip last week but lost Dube to my top pick. Brent Holland, who picked up the drive, has won with this horse before, too, so it's probably not a huge change.

Race 5 - John Brennan Series Trot

(3) LIFETIME ROYALTY is a risky pick since he's broken stride in his last two races, but I also think he's kept the best company lines of the horses in here, especially his fourth-place finish against NW20000L5's on the 5th of March. (5) TIMON AS hikes north from Pompano Park where he was racing in their Open class. Tyler Buter gets the call, and this horse definitely appears usable. (1) MANHATTANUP NO ICE owns two wins and a second in his last three against NW2 types at the Meadowlands. He wasn't Mark MacDonald's choice, but this horse has serious early speed that should allow him to sit somewhere near the pace.

Race 6 - John Brennan Series Trot

(5) BLUE AND BOLD made up good ground in the last quarter a week ago for the same trainer that sends out Kenogami Coco in an earlier division of this series. Jason Bartlett got the drive after Austin Siegelman went elsewhere. (2) HUNTING AS hasn't missed the board in 2021 and was a good second from first-over last Thursday. (4) DESWANSLITTLELORIE crossed the finish line first in her Yonkers debut but was placed second for causing interference. It was still a quality effort, and she hails from the strong Di Domenico barn.

Race 7 - John Brennan Series Trot

(5) GET LEGS looks like he just has too much class and speed for the others in here barring some sort of issue with handling the half-mile track. He'll be 1-9. (7) GUILTY DESIRE shows racing in the Open out at Northfield, so I respect that, and I like that he ended up with Yannick Gingras at scratch time. (8) P L NOTSONICE has a lot of speed but doesn't always mind her manners. She just missed by a nose after a first-over grind at Pocono, and I'll include.

Race 8 - F&M NW8/100000LT Pace

(3) GOLDEN QUEST N was second to Machnhope on 3-5 and to Sweet Lucy Lou in a subsequent start, both at the Meadowlands. Machnhope has gone on to win two legs of the Blue Chip Matchmaker Series, and Sweet Lucy Lou was fourth in the Breeders Crown in 2020, so Golden Quest N has been racing well against strong company, and I will be putting her on top. (6) MAJOR BATTLE broke on the sloppy track last Wednesday, but she had a nice win here prior to that. I'll give her a pass for that mistake and include, especially since she has the potent tandem of Todd McCarthy and Jenny Melander going for her. (2) VIBRENT KALLY invades from Northfield where she's been working her way up the class ladder with some success. She picked up Gingras's services to help her cause.

Race 9 - NW10000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW7500L5/20000CLM Trot

(7) COOL CLIFFORD went off as the favorite in this class on March 10 but broke stride on the second turn. I respect that Jordan Stratton stayed with him over a horse he won with last week, and I'll give him a chance. Hopefully he offers a bit of a price coming off the miscue. (2) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN is probably about due to wake up, and it could certainly come right here as he drops and moves inside. (1) CRAZYCAT scored in pretty facile fashion from first-up against NW7500L5's last Wednesday. He was the one that Stratton booked off of, so Bartlett inherits the potentially live drive.

Race 10 - F&M NW4/53000LT Pace

(7) COVER STORY prevailed in handy fashion over NW2 foes up at Woodbine Mohawk Park in her 2021 debut and now comes to Yonkers and into the Di Domenico stable. I'll hope Scott has her ready to fire. (5) CHELSKI steps up to the NW4 class for the first time, but she showed plenty of ability against NW2's and NW3's, so I don't anticipate it being a huge issue. (2) READY SET ROCK has some post relief here after a rallying fourth-place finish in the final of the M Life Rewards Ladies Pacing Series.
