Yonkers: Analysis for Wednesday 3/16

Greg Reinhart|Mar 14, 2022
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 42 - 160 / $220.00 (-$100.00)
BEST BETS: 9 - 17 / $31.80 (-$2.20)
SPOT PLAYS: 1 - 16 / $5.50 (-$26.50)
BEST BET -
SWANSEA (5th)
SPOT PLAY - B VANISH (2nd)

Race 1 - MGM Rewards Ladies Series Pace

(4) JM BETONSIX handled business pretty convincingly in the first leg of this event and gets some post relief off that mile. Co-owner Yannick Gingras isn't here tonight, so George Brennan has the live call. (6) GABBY'S GIRL was second to JM Betonsix last Wednesday and has shown she has enough early foot to probably make the lead and then yield again. (1) PLEASURE SEEKER was a solid second against NW4's at Pocono two back and then had no chance from an outside post a week ago. She has the pole tonight, and I'll bank on her following along and hitting the board.

Race 2 - F&M NW2/26750LT Pace

(5) B VANISH won a couple times north of the border last year and should improve tonight after making her first start of 2022 at Saratoga on 3-7. Trainer Jared Bako is sending out plenty of live horses right now. (3) HORIZON turned in a big effort to finish fourth from post seven last Wednesday. She has significant post relief off that effort and is likely to be a heavy favorite. (1) IDEAL CHIP continued her trend of hitting the board but not winning a week ago and is a must-include underneath.

Race 3 - 50000CLM Trot

(7) BANK BOX TREASURE was a good second to the in-form DC Anna last Wednesday, and it seems like trainer Gil Garcia-Herrera's horses are coming around as they get more starts in 2022. He needs to show speed from the outside, but he has the right driver to do that in Dan Dube. (4) STONEBRIDGE GAMBLE invades from Northfield. He shows racing at the Open level out there and even winning once in it back in January, so I have to think he'll fit the $50,000 claimers very well. (2) ITSONLYMONEYHONEY had to do the hard work from first-up into DC Anna a week ago and faded in the last quarter. He won handily at Pocono two back and trainer Rob Harmon is having a strong season.

Race 4 - MGM Rewards Ladies Series Pace

(6) DIVINE DEO has cruised to two victories since coming over to Yonkers from the Meadowlands and appears very capable of giving Brennan and Burke a sweep in this event again this week. (4) BELINA gained spots in the last quarter a week ago to finish second to Divine Deo, and Lance Hudson is another trainer starting to pick it up after a slow start to 2022. (2) NUTTINBUTHEBEST needs some points to make the final after missing last Wednesday's first leg and is likely to be handled aggressively because of that.

Race 5 - NW7500L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/15000CLM Trot

(2) SWANSEA plummets in class out of the Open at Dover and has had plenty of success at Yonkers in the past for these connections. (1) WHIMZICAL CHAPTER also invades out of high-level races at Dover and is now with Per Engblom, as sharp a guy as you can find with trotters. (7) FULL RIGHTS woke up with a better effort when he dropped down to the NW10000L5 level a week ago and slides down another notch tonight.

Race 6 - F&M NW6/75000LT / NW4/50000LT Drawn Inside Pace

(8) ALTA MADEIRA N overcame post eight to win on 2-16 and was second to Divine Deo back on March 2. (5) PLZDONTLIETOME N makes her U.S. debut tonight after an easy win in a qualifier at Monticello. This 5-year-old Art Major mare showed some class in both New Zealand and Australia, competing in a Group 2 race in the former and a Group 1 race in the latter. (4) OAKWOOD CORAL IR beat NW2's three times and hikes up tonight. She hasn't missed the board in six career starts overall and is probably capable of handling the step up.

Race 7 - 50000CLM Trot

(7) LUCKY MATTER slides down a level after finishing third against $75,000 claimers in his last pair and has hit the board in six straight appearances. (5) PLUMB turned in another strong performance last Wednesday and hasn't been out of the top three since adding trotting hobbles in mid-February. (3) KANDY SWEET is very sharp right now and was tough to pass on the front-end a week ago.

Race 8 - NW10000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW7500L5/20000CLM Trot

(1) NEXTROUNDSONME was in against NW20000L5's when he was at Yonkers back in February and has an inside post tonight after being stuck with seven-holes in his last two tries. (5) THE LAST CHAPTER drops in class again in his third try of 2022 and kept Jordan Stratton over other horses. (3) SHOEMAKER HANOVER had some trot on the end of the mile when he got to team with a catch driver on 3-4. He slides dwon from the NW15000L5's and has a catch driver again in Austin Siegelman.

Race 9 - 75000CLM Trot

(6) GREY cut the mile and just missed in this class back on March 2, and given the lack of apparent early speed types in here again tonight, she might be able to employ similar tactics. (3) ON HIGHER GROUND rallied stoutly from off-the-pace a week ago and is likely to take a lot of wagering attention. (2) HILL OF A HORSE exits the Open and is another usable horse.

Race 10 - 50000CLM Trot

(6) FASHION FOREVER enters with a win and a second in his last two outings, and I thought he was a solid runner-up to the above-mentioned Kandy Sweet when that mare got away with an easy pace on March 2. (1) EVA DAIRPET FR didn't get great cover to follow a week ago and had to settle for fourth. Her trainer is winning with seemingly everything over at the Meadowlands but hasn't cracked the win column yet in 2022 at Yonkers. (5) MANHATTANUP NO ICE looks like he faces a softer group of $50,000 claimers tonight than he has in his last two starts where he was third both times.

Race 11 - NW5000L5 Pace

(1) GLOBALDOMINATION N owns a great history at Yonkers and returns here against bottom level foes. (2) DING DING DINGER was first-over for a long time in his last start and predictably tired. He takes another crack against NW5000L5's here and gets reunited with leading driver Jason Bartlett. (8) EPIC ACE has gone from NW2000L5's on 1-25 to the basement here tonight. He's stuck out in post eight, but he wouldn't be the first horse who came to life once he found this sort of competition.
