SPOT PLAY - STATE SENATOR (7th)
Race 1 - NW5000L5 Trot
(7) MANWILLING went to the front on 1-25 but made a break and was never in contention after that. That looks like it was out of character for him, and he races for a barn that's sending out plenty of live horses right now, so I'll give him another chance. (2) BEERTHIRTY K is another horse coming off a miscue. He was third versus NW10000L5's on 12-21 and favored against NW7500L5's on January 18, so he's probably the one to beat. (1) IM THE MUSCLE could be sharper tonight as he hadn't raced yet in 2023 before last Wednesday's sixth-place effort in a NW7500L5 tilt.

Race 2 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace
(1) THINKING OF A CARD crossed the wire first on January 25 but was placed fourth for causing interference. That was unfortunate, but it showed her Monticello form was no accident, and hopefully she can make amends here. (6) ON THE MONEY GB is two-for-two in the U.S. over at the Meadowlands and Ron Burke is off to a hot start in 2023. (5) CATIE FAYE HANOVER has hit the board in six of her last seven outings and usually provides some value underneath.

Race 3 - 50000CLM Trot
(4) INFINITY STONE finds a more reasonable spot here than the NW30000L5 contest he was in on 1-26, and trainer Per Engblom's charges are on fire right now. (6) LINDSEY'S PRIDE owns a win and two seconds in his last three chances in this class and has been handled aggressively lately by driver Brent Holland. (5) UP HELLY AA makes his second start back after freshening up and trotted a pretty good final quarter a week ago.
Race 4 - NW5000L5 Trot
(2) PRIMO PADRE has been a little break-prone lately, but he minded his manners in his qualifier on January 27, and trainer Nick Devita put plenty of winners on the track last week. (5) YES comes north from Dover and lands at the bottom level. This horse has done well on half-mile ovals through his career and races for Cory Stratton, another trainer who is off to an excellent start to this year. (1) CAVALIER GEORGE is another Paul Stafford horse (like Im The Muscle in race one) that I could see doing better tonight since he has an appearance under his belt now in 2023. He also gets post relief.
Race 5 - F&M NW6/75000LT Pace
(4) GOT THE GOLD looked ready to rumble in her qualifier at the Meadowlands on January 28 and was third in the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Super Final for 3-year-old pacing fillies last year. She also got the nod from Jordan Stratton over another contender in here. (1) PURE SILKY took a tough beat last Wednesday when she came up a nose short of winning. With Scott Zeron not competing tonight, she has a driver switch to Matt Kakaley. (2) CLEAR THE WAY finished up her mile a week ago with pace and switches to an inside post tonight.
Race 6 - NW6105L5 Trot
(2) STARLIT RAMBO squeezed into this race by a dollar since he has $6,104 earned in his last five starts. He also has post relief and gets reunited with Stratton in the bike. (1) TITANS HOPE was on her way to victory in that NW7500L5 tilt on January 18 when she made a break on the last turn. She qualified back well at the Meadowlands and was Jason Bartlett's choice. (3) DOWN THE PIKE MIKE just missed in a tight finish last Wednesday and will probably be in position to stalk my top two choices.
Race 7 - 3-5YO 50000CLM Pace
(7) STATE SENATOR raced well to finish second behind the razor-sharp Great Somewhere last Wednesday and should offer some value from an outside post. (1) GREG THE LEG couldn't seal the deal at 1-5 a week ago but hails from the Engblom barn and has the pole position. I'll include. (6) ROSE RUN X-CON is on a lengthy streak of on-the-board finishes and debuts for new connections after being claimed by Dennis Laterza off a win last week.
Race 8 - NW10000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW7500L5 Trot
(6) HOOLIE N HECTOR returns to Yonkers after a couple of pretty good efforts at the Meadowlands in his last two outings, and this horse was facing NW15000L5's when last seen locally. (2) FULL RIGHTS blasted out a week ago in a NW10000L5 contest and wound up fourth. I would expect he'll be in play again as he drops and moves inside a couple of notches on the gate. (8) STREET GOSSIP starts from the eight-hole but was second two back at this level and turned in a sharp qualifier on January 27.

Race 9 - 3-5YO 50000CLM Pace
(6) STILL THIRSTY ended up having to do the first-over work into a quick third quarter and faded last week. He's another Devita horse I'll give a chance tonight given that barn's strong week, and he gets another shot with Bartlett. (4) MOMENTSTHATMATTER has post relief tonight and came close to winning on December 21 and January 25. (3) SILENT SPLENDOR faces age-restricted claimers here after taking on open company in both of his appearances so far in 2023. He also moves inside on the gate.
Race 10 - NW7500L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5 Trot
(1) C YOU AGAIN DK took heavy pressure after making the lead at the Meadowlands on 1-27 but won any way. He picks up Bartlett tonight and makes his second start in the U.S. for Engblom. (3) SWANSEA drops out of the NW10000L5's and has post relief to go with it. (6) HAT TRICK MARLEAU gets further class relief in this spot and finished third after having to do the first-over work a week ago.
