Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 9/8/26

Matt Rose|Sep 07, 2026
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2026 MEET STATS: 259 - 810 / $1,433.30 (-$186.70)

BEST BETS: 48 - 86 / $164.88 (-$7.12)

BEST BET: CURLY JAMES A (3rd)

SPOT PLAY: GINGER TREE LIZ (2nd)

Race 1: NW2 races or $30,000 LT Pace

(4) ENTER SANDMAN broke before the start in his Yonkers return but as noted last week he had significantly improved prior at Philly and the Lachance trainee will offer a big price and gets another chance. (1) ROUGH DEAL failed at 20 cents on the dollar, will be short price again. (3) HURRIKANE LOLLOUIE ended up an easy winner last week at a price last start and fits this class again.

Race 2: F&M $30,000 Claiming Pace

(6) GINGER TREE LIZ was a solid front-end winner first start out after the Bako claim. The classy veteran mare steps up in class and has the speed to get into play, possibly on the front end, and will offer value. (1) TH RIZZO drops from the 50’s to the 30’s, draws the rail, adds Bartlett; one to beat. (3) FIGHT NOT FLIGHT finally steps up in class after being claimed numerous times. Can she maintain her stellar form?

Race 3: $60,000-$75,000 Claiming Pace

(4) CURLY JAMES A was claimed for $20K by these connections a couple of months ago and since has won for $30K, $40K and $60K. Odds-on to take another. (3) BOSTON BOUND was bet right into the top choice last week and ended up third. He’s got a post edge and may be handled more aggressively. (6) BACKSTREET SHADOW is tagged for $75K and may have a new home at this level but is all the way outside in this handicap event so may only be able to rally for a piece.

Race 4: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(3) MC ANGEL has been at the top of her game this year with over $113K earned and nine wins. Huge turnaround from a mostly empty 2025 campaign. Stratton mare draws well in this very competitive event. (1) MAYBEMABEL moves to the rail off last week’s good comeback effort after having to requalify. (4) SURVIVIN FIRE was a perfectly good second best last start and was a winner at this level three back.

Race 5: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(8) EVILEYE FLEEGLE faces significantly softer than the competition he’s been up against over the last couple of months, though one thing we haven’t seen much from him is early speed. I’m hopeful Buter can improve position early at a good price with the Burke trainee. (4) SMOOTH DREAM is a lightly-raced 4YO and he’s been right there in his last two at this level. (2) LYONS FRANKY J gets major post relief for connections that are impossible to ignore.

Race 6: 3-5YO Winners of 2-4 races or $60,000 LT Pace

(4) LOUMELO BALL has outraced his odds in his two local races and I’m thinking the Burke homebred is capable of taking the next step forward and doubling his win output for the year; shouldn’t be that far off the pace at any point. (1) DARKNSTORMY DEO is very logical moving to the rail, as is (3) TWIN B FRESH BET, who is fresh off a winning qualifier.

Race 7: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) SOUTHWIND CELSIUS doesn’t have much current form but his last win was at a class higher than this, and the combo of the post improvement with the switch to Bartlett can improve him dramatically. (5) INVISIBLE N was sent to the lead last week using new tactics and fizzled out late; prior efforts at higher classes were competitive. (1) NO TRESSPASSING shipped in from Pennsylvania and finished a close third; similar effort puts this 4YO right there with these.

Race 8: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) HAZEVILLE was bet like a winner last week and came through with the score; Fanning trainee does step up to face a bit better but he keeps Holland and draws well again. (3) BONDI LOCKDOWN A has hit the board and finished close in most recent outings but it’s been a while since he’s won a race; good candidate to use underneath. (1) IN EXCESS N looks similar to the Devita trainee in the prior race; not a ton of current form but better draw and switch to the leading driver. In line for a live trip.

Race 9: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

It took (5) JOLIMONT N three races upon arrival from New Zealand to find the winner’s circle, and he did so most impressively with a 1:49 3/5 win at Pocono. Lance Hudson trainee comes over to Yonkers at a level I think he can handle. (3) LILLBLISS recently moved to the Engblom camp and won at first asking, then was stuck outside and rallied for a small piece. Post relief should have him more involved. (6) THE MIKI TAKER A gets a new set of hands as Braxten Boyd is listed on the Shane Tritton trainee. He was well back throughout last start but finished third in the prior three.
