Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 9/24

Matt Rose|Sep 23, 2024
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2024 MEET STATS: 300 - 975 / $1,621.70 (-$328.30)

BEST BETS: 43 - 84 / $152.60 (-$15.40)

BEST BET: LOU'S SWEETREVENGE (6th)

SPOT PLAY: BRAEVIEW BONDI A (7th)

Race 1: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(3) FREESTARFLIGHT has been hinting at a win so seeing her score last week was no surprise; Stratton trainee has a post edge on her main rivals and that tactical advantage can help her repeat. (4) CALLMEQUEENBEE A saw her five-race win streak snapped recently when stuck in the eight hole; obviously the post relief makes her dangerous again. (8) NO WIN NO FEED A had been very sharp prior to last week's race but was still sent off at over 22/1 and scored; awful post again makes her a price.

Race 2: 3-5YO Open Pace

(2) BLUE HUNT takes a major step up in class but those two efforts for this barn after arriving from Canada were superb and the gelding is certainly fast enough to compete here. (3) WESTERN ERA has close in a few recent races versus similar and he always offers a price. Erv Miller trainee figures to get away midpack here and can pick up a nice piece. (4) TWIN B SEAMONSTER gets a class test as he makes his local debut but he sure likes to win at 10 for 23 lifetime.

Race 3: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(4) JILLIAN JIGGS was much improved last week as she showed speed and kept on for second. Mare faces the same foe inside of her tonight but will be a much bigger price as she trends in the right direction. (1) SHEIKH YABOOTY N goes to a new barn via claim but stays at a winning level; short price looming. (7) OURLITTLEMIRACLE has burned money in her last two but the price goes up tonight as she's in a tough post.

Race 4: Winners of 2-4 races or $60,000 LT Pace

(2) SAN JOSE is giving up ground in the experience department as he makes just his third lifetime start but he's shown legit talent and will be a price in this competitive race. (7) AYR BALMORAL GB draws poorly but has reached from the outside in the past and Bongiorno handles the Burke trainee well. (6) BOLD SPIRIT makes his local debut and has picked up his game recently at the Meadows after arriving there from Canada.

Race 5: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(2) HEAVENS SHOWGIRL A always puts in an honest effort but has just two wins this year to show for it. Post will keep her close and she can pick up the pieces if a couple of the outside speed threats are used too hard. (3) IDEAL COVER has cut the mile and come up second best in her two starts at this level after being claimed for $25K; likely the one to catch again. (1) SOMWHERUNDERHEAVN dropped in for a tag last week for the Engblom barn but was saddled with post seven; mare now moves all the way inside.

Race 6: NW11041 in last 5 starts Pace

Safe to say that (2) LOU'S SWEETREVENGE enjoys the new surroundings as he has dominated in his two starts since moving to the Bako barn. Step up in class shouldn't be a concern. (1) LYRICAL GENIUS A has been caught up in super-fast miles in his last two but held his ground well; Stratton trainee can trip out here from the rail. (5) ALABAMAJAMMA closed well to make it close last start and Buter drives again.

Race 7: NW17111 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) BRAEVIEW BONDI A had been racing well at lower levels prior two drawing two consecutive seven holes; DiDomenico trainee is back inside facing a pretty soft field for this class. (5) BELMONT MAJOR N closed well last out but can also leave the gate, which is what he figures to do tonight; contender. (3) FAMILY RECIPE finished close in his last two from similar spots; not a prolific winner but fits well here.

Race 8: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(7) SPORTS FLIX is back down at the $20K claiming level, where she was a dominant winner three back. Very likely new driver Kakaley will be on the march early with the veteran. (8) LINE EM UP is another dropper in here from good connections. Is it possible these two can both land on or near the front? They do seem to have the edge here class-wise. (4) SUNSET SOPH is usually just a fringe player but this barn has perked up recently.

Race 9: 3-5YO Open Pace

(2) ENERGETIC HANOVER seemed to be in the winning spot last week and grinded down the leader to score as the chalk. Alagna trainee has won multiple races here this year at the top levels and does have a slight tactical advantage over chief rival (4) RACING RAMPAGE. The latter was on cruise control last out winning in 1:50 3/5 and the four-year-old has been a killer since entering the Alexander barn. (3) VERDUN was a very crafty claim a couple of months back for Lachance and he can run these down with the right setup.

Race 10: $60,000-$75,000 Claiming Pace

(2) CENTURY ENDEAVOR hasn't won in a few months and that was against a bit lesser but he's been a steady and consistent performer practically every week since; he faces a field here where many of these are unproven at this level and figures to be chasing from close up. Maybe he gets there at a price. (3) REAL WILLEY just missed two back in his first start for these connections but then folded badly when pushed hard early. He's right back in and could be a legit speed threat. (4) FREQUENT IMAGE is another speedy threat but he's just 1 for 14 on the season so I'll lean underneath.

Race 11: Winners of 2-4 races or $60,000 LT Pace

(6) HUMBLE A paced a good back half in that qualifier in preparation for his U.S. debut and the Blackler trainee picks up Bartlett. Is it asking too much of this import to score first-time out? Maybe, but I'll still take a shot. (3) KID FROM THE BRONX failed to get involved last out but was a winner the start prior and overall has raced well for these connections. (2) TEXAS HOLDEM picked up a check in the NYSS final and was a very nice winner at this level last week.

Race 12: F&M $25,000 Claiming Pace

(3) CHASE YOU takes a meaningful drop in class from the $50's to the $25's in her third start upon arrival from Ohio. That could be enough to get this Engblom trainee over the top. (1) ALWAYS BE CITY stays at a competitive level off the Bongiorno claim and has been first or second in four of her last five. (2) CHARMING VIXEN rallied well for a share in all recent races and now lands an inside post; Godinez trainee looks like a major player.
