Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 9/17

Matt Rose|Sep 16, 2024
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2024 MEET STATS: 300 - 975 / $1,621.70 (-$328.30)

BEST BETS: 43 - 84 / $152.60 (-$15.40)

BEST BET: FRONDEUR (8th)

SPOT PLAY: MADDY N MAGGIE (9th)

Race 1: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(5) IDEAL COVER raced very well up in class for new connections and a similar effort from this midpack post can get it done. (8) JIVE DANCING A is back on top of her game and she does have the speed to overcome the post; she can take all if not roughed up too much in the early stages. (4) FREESTARFLIGHT has been competitive in all recent races at this level and has a post edge on many of her main contenders.

Race 2: F&M $25,000 Claiming Pace

(5) LARJON LEAH has had a couple of excuses in her races after being reclaimed by these connections but she lands a reasonable enough post and should offer some nice value in this competitive affair. (6) REAL LADY SADIE steps up a notch after being claimed again last out. She's got the speed to fire off the gate and depending what #5 does will factor into her chances of making the front. (1) ROCKNROLL ANNIE has been dull recently as she tries to find the right class but she does land her best post in over two months.

Race 3: 3-5YO Open Pace

(2) ENERGETIC HANOVER had a couple of no-chance trips over the last month but he's drawn well here and returns to Bartlett. (7) VOULKFALAS gets a break from stakes competition and dominated the last time he faced overnight foes but I wonder how hard he's willing to be used from this tough post assignment. (1) PANTTTONE HANOVER makes his third start for Bongiorno and though he's a step behind these class-wise he can be close up from this post and land a share.

Race 4: F&M $25,000 Claiming Pace

(6) CHARMING VIXEN has closed crisply in every recent start and seems to only need a reasonable pace up front to fire her best shot; at a price. (3) UNITY has nine wins already this year and raced well in her first start for these connections. (1) TOBAGO TIME gets post relief in her second start after returning to Yonkers but she's not the most prolific winner.

Race 5: 2-5YO Winners of 2-4 races or $60,000 lifetime Pace

(1) SAN JOSE looked really good in her career debut scoring in 1:57 3/5 at Freehold over much more seasoned foes and the Estrada trainee likely has more to offer; 3YO logically takes a shot for over four times the purse money. (4) D A MCDREAMY acclimated very nicely last week and seems like the one to beat. (5) SURFRIDER hasn't exactly set the racing world on fire but he's been ok in claimers and hails from good connections.

Race 6: NW21301 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) J M MANDAMIN has been sharp in every recent local start as he climbs the class ladder and I'll stick with him. (2) SEVEN COLORS has been a major disappointment this year and I'm not sure I trust him here at a short price. (1) YOROKOBI N is more than capable of keeping up and landing a piece.

Race 7: 2-5YO Winners of 2-4 races or $60,000 lifetime Pace

(2) TEXAS HOLDEM picked up a check in the NYSS final and prior to that he blew away a NW field at Saratoga; Schnittker trainee can be tough tonight. (4) SPRING BLAKE also came out of the NYSS final and didn't race badly but just had no chance. Stratton gets the drive tonight and he will be a player. (1) AMERICAGREATAGAIN arrives from Pennsylvania and moves into the Alexander barn. Rail, speed and Bartlett makes him a major threat.

Race 8: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(5) FRONDEUR is back with a regular driver after participating in an amateur event last week; Holland should be sending him to the front. (1) I'M FANCY LIKE is back inside and it looks like these two will be controlling the action up front. (2) PLEASURE SEEKER has had a nice season with almost $75K banked. Mare can hold off the rest.

Race 9: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

Soft field here, can make a case for any of them. (3) MADDY N MAGGIE won by a hundred two back at Freehold and last week was second in a 1:54 3/5 mile. Estrada trainee gets a chance to show she belongs. (6) THUNDRA debuts for new connections off the $20K claim last week. Ex-Drolet horse has never been a prolific winner but usually races well here. (5) THINK AHEAD didn't really fire when entering this class but the Alexander trainee deserves another look.

Race 10: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(6) NUTTINBUTHEBEST hasn't found the winner's circle in some time but she drops from the $25's to the $20's and returns to Bartlett. I think she'll be rolling early and can top these. (1) TYRA MAKES BANK was a well-rated winner last week; logical choice to repeat. (7) TERACITA snapped a losing streak last out but now is stuck outside with early speed to her left. She does have the talent to repeat, however, and should offer a fair price.

Race 11: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(1) SHEIKH YABOOTY N lands the rail in a listless field and is a wire-to-wire candidate at odds-on. (3) ALWAYS B MIMI has raced decently with Holland in the past and moving back inside will get her closer to the pace. (4) LYONS MIKI has trainer Pat Lachance in the bike tonight and though her last two showed little she was a winner three back.

Race 12: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(3) IDEALINFUN dropped back to this level last week and went a long trip from the eight hole, understandably tiring; Bartlett drives tonight from a much better post and she gets top billing in the finale. (1) WHASSUP HANOVER has had a good 3YO campaign with eight wins and $100K earned. The question is if she's properly classified here. I guess we'll find out. (7) NO WIN NO FEED A rarely puts in a bad performance but she may have too much to overcome tonight.
