Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 9/1

Matt Rose|Aug 31, 2020
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 145 - 419 / $764.90 (-$73.10)
BEST BETS: 22 - 39 / $70.70 (-$7.30)
Best Bet:
SOMEBADDUDE (9th)
Spot Play: MIDNIGHT LIGHTNING (4th)

Race 1 - NW2 races or $25,000 lifetime Pace

(4) SPECIAL ACHIEVER tired after an aggressive try last out; she faces pretty much the same stock here and keeps Bartlett; another try. (5) DEE DEE KAY moved into this overnight event after spending time in the Excelsior A's and she responded with a win; one to beat again. (8) BABY GOT BACK was no match to the top two she faced last week but she did flash early speed, which she will have to do again to overcome this poor post.

Race 2 - NW5000 in last 5 starts Trot

(1) WATKINS ran into a horse putting in a big mile last week and had to settle for second best; the veteran draws best again and deserves top billing. (3) VALLORIA N gets needed class and post relief for Tritton; interesting Dube is listed to drive again. (7) EXS AND OHS also drops in class and beat better than these a few months back; Bartlett drives.

Race 3 - NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) IMA TRAGEDY N draws best in this blank field and has a driver that likes to send them down the road. (4) OZONE BLUE CHIP has been racing well enough out of town to suggest he'll fit well here in his local return. (2) MAJESTIC KIWI N has shown nothing recently but that was while facing better.

Race 4 - NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) MIDNIGHT LIGHTNING hasn't looked particularly good in his last three starts but he drops into a very suspect field and anything resembling that effort at The Meadowlands four back would make the Vallee student a big player. (4) AUDI HARE N raced respectably versus better last out and Bartlett drives again; threat. (1) GRIFFON HANOVER has back class but note the trainer change here to Tirella, and that barn has been cold recently.

Race 5 - NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) MACINTOSH N is another Vallee-trained veteran getting needed class relief and the 11-year-old can awaken here. (4) MR WIGGLE PANTS obviously merits respect but he seems to be an inconsistent type; tough to take a short price on him. (2) WESTERN BEACHBOY took money last out at Philly but didn't muster a rally; two back he tired after a two-move eight-hole try.

Race 6 - NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime

(5) PASSPORT HANOVER was a good second in the M Life consolation when last seen at Yonkers then failed to get involved recently at Pocono. She gets Bartlett back in the bike and seems capable of awakening. (1) WINDFALL PROFITS arrives for DiDomenico off a win at Phillly and the filly draws best here; clearly the one to catch. (6) SPORTY JULIANA was facing minor stakes competition most recently in Pennsylvania but she’s unfortunately drawn outside her main competition.

Race 7 - NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) ON THE VIRG never got involved last week in a quick mile but he figures to be more a part of the pace action tonight and could have a slight upset in store. (1) ORILLIA JOE has loads of back class, draws best and was Stratton's choice; race goes through him. (8) IMSTAYINALIVE draws worst which severely limits his win potential but maybe the Lachance trainee can sneak into the number.

Race 8 - NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) VETTEL N shows a win two back in 50 and change and the Team Bongiorno charge finds a great spot to do some damage. (8) THE WALL returns to Yonkers and he's had plenty of success here in the past; Bartlett has to be alert at the start to help overcome the eight hole. (5) OUR CORELLI N has raced well since moving to the Choate barn.

Race 9 - NW17500 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) SOMEBADDUDE retuned to Yonkers, added Bartlett and blitzed them in 1:50 4/5. He faces some legit competition here but does deserve top billing looking to double up. (5) THE REAL ONE can still get the job done, but as always, he's trip-dependent. (4) CAVIART REAGAN currently seems good enough to land a share with this type.
