Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 8/6

Matt Rose|Aug 05, 2024
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2024 MEET STATS: 274 - 898 / $1,503.40 (-$292.60)

BEST BETS: 40 - 77 / $145.10 (-$8.90)

BEST BET: HP XANADU (4th)

SPOT PLAY: OHOKA LE BRON N (9th)

Race 1: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(3) COALFORDSNSHINE GB has raced pretty well in two starts at this $50K level after being claimed by these connections for $25K; last week he was involved too late but she should be closer to the action tonight. (2) CELIA B MONEY trailed throughout last start when saddled with the worst post but she moves back inside which makes her a clear contender. (4) HONEY LOVE was second best to the strong winner last week coming out of the same race as the top two choices and she should be prominent again.

Race 2: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(4) HP XANADU had no punch from the pocket last week but the Joe Bongiorno trained/driven mare finds a softer spot here and may just be a tick or two faster than these. (2) PINK QUARTZ fired down the road last start and folded late; she seems better off in a stalking spot. (3) PHELGON has picked up checks in her three starts here after arriving from The Meadowlands and she lands a reasonable post. She's a strong candidate to hit the ticket and will provide value if putting on top.

Race 3: F&M $25,000 Claiming Pace

(4) IDEAL COVER seems to have found a home at this claiming level with a win and a third in her two tries in this class; Marohn drives again looking to repeat. (2) JUST ROSAS LUCK has hit the board in each of her last eight races and for multiple trainers. Bucci trainee will be forwardly placed again and would be no surprise if she won this. (3) NUTTINBUTTHEBEST can be excused for last week's tiring effort but overall it's been ages since she's won; even with returning to the leading driver I'll use underneath.

Race 4: NW17311 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) ROLLING WITH SAM has been right there in all recent but hasn't been able to win; he's as capable as any in here and just needs a good trip. (1) ROCKIN JUKEBOX has won two straight for Joe B. as he climbs the class ladder. (2) BUGABOO LOU gets good post relief for Brennan/Burke.

Race 5: $60,000-$75,000 Claiming Pace

(8) ROCK DIAMONDS N has won eight straight races and in his last seven every single call in his pp line is a "1" which makes it cool to look at. Being in for the higher tag is why he's outside every week but with his early speed it doesn't seem to make a difference. (1) BILL HALEY N was an interesting claim last week for $60K by the Devita barn; we'll see how that works out. Meanwhile he should be in line for a good trip. (3) QUALITY BUD has been just going through the motions in every recent start but this is the best post he's seen in a while.

Race 6: 2-5YO Winners 2-4 races or $60K LT Pace

(1) JERSEY BEACH is lightly raced but has a win and a second in his last two at Philly and was Bartlett's choice over an Engblom trainee. (5) TARGET AQUIRED finished third in local debut for good connections and can certainly build off that effort. (4) THE SERPENT also raced well after recently arriving locally, this one coming from Canada.

Race 7: NW22201 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) SEMI TOUGH lands the rail and gets Bartlett in the bike with Joe B training #2 so the Burke trainee figures to be controlling the action again. (3) FREQUENT IMAGE has been good in four starts for the Alexander barn after arriving from Delaware and he's had good gate speed in all of them. (5) FUNATTHEBEACH N drops in class and is obviously a legit player with these but drawing outside his main competition hurts.

Race 8: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(2) NO WIN NO FEED A should be considered the Queen of the high-priced mare claimers and she's likely the one to catch again. (4) PARADISE ROCK L has been much better in her last couple including that pocket-sitting second to the top choice last week; Holland may be forwardly placed again looking for the same trip. (6) MORNING HAS BROKEN keeps Kakaley over #2 and when on her gain she's a major closing threat.

Race 9: 2-5YO Winners 2-4 races or $60K LT Pace

(5) OHOKA LE BRON N followed up a sharp win two back with a two-move uncovered try last week that didn't work out. He's clearly a very live one for the Bucci barn and gets the call. (1) SINBAD N looks like the one to catch here from the rail. Note the top choice sailed past him in that matchup two back. (3) AYR BALMORAL GB picked up the win last week first-time Joe B. driving but will need be better here to overtake the top two choices.
