Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 8/31

Matt Rose|Aug 30, 2021
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 297 - 843 / $1,604.10 (-$81.90)

BEST BETS: 41 - 80 / $130.40 (-$29.60)

Best Bet: THE WILD CARD (4th)

Spot Play: WARDAN EXPRESS A (6th)

Race 1: $12,500 Claiming Pace

(5) GOTHIC ROCK hails from a low-percentage barn but that was a pretty aggressive try facing better first off the claim. Gelding drops back down in class tonight. (2) QUICK ASA TRICK N gets major post improvement and will be showing speed; he’s certainly a candidate to take this field down the road. (3) ENERGYZONE HANOVER has paced evenly for small shares in his last few; he tries a new driver in Zeron tonight and could hit the ticket.

Race 2: NW2 races or $25,000 lifetime Pace

(2) STELLAR FELLER arrives from Hoosier and joins the Daguet outfit; missed time is a concern but he had been racing well out there in conditioned claimers and could be sneaky-bet off his seemingly high morning line. (4) RAILIN’ JENNINGS went evenly last start and was good off the gate from the eight hole the start prior; Erv Miller trainee should be close to the pace. (5) COLD DECKED enjoyed a nice trip in last and was second best; may have to work a bit harder here but he does seem to fit well with these.

Race 3: $20,000 Claiming Pace

(2) MAJOR BUCKS was a clear second after sitting the pocket trip to the favorite last week and the veteran draws well again; top billing. (3) FOREVERNALWAYS comes out of the same race as the top one where he had no chance for his new connections; this seems like a more realistic spot. (1) MACH TIME N is tough to use on top with his poor win percentage but he certainly can take this with a smooth trip.

Race 4: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) THE WILD CARD was a solid second to a classy rival last out and the Lance Hudson trainee clearly seems the one to beat dropping to the basement. (7) RETOUR AU JEU goes now for the Devita barn coming off a nice qualifier up at Monticello; only problem here is the poor post. (2) DELIGTHFUL TERROR went a tough trip in a fast mile last week and he too gets class relief; big player.

Race 5: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(2) JESSICAS BEACH BOY caused a couple of recalls last start then broke leaving into the first turn; his prior starts for Milici were encouraging and perhaps with less pre-race drama he can be right there at a price. (1) HIS BEATS HANOVER was a winner at Pocono right off the Burke purchase and he looks like a solid fit with these. (6) HIPPESTCATINTOWN moves to the Jenn Bongiorno barn which makes him an instant contender.

Race 6: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) WARDAN EXPRESS A was a good second to the strong odds-on winner when last at this NW7500 level and drawing all the way inside gives him a chance at a live trip. (3) LYONS NIGHT HAWK likely needed last week’s start at Pocono after missing some time with a couple of sick scratches. (2) CAPTAIN CASH has plenty of speed but he did quit in the lane last week; obviously he needs more late endurance.

Race 7: NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace

(5) DEAL THE CARDS is undefeated in four 2021 races after missing a year; Schnittker trainee bumps up to NW6 but certainly seems talented enough to handle these. (3) LATISSIMUS HANOVER went on a wicked speed mission off the Milici claim and was almost comically walking home late; he’s right back in the box and may try different tactics. (1) SHINY BLACK BEAMER set a quick clip and folded last start; he lands the rail tonight and Brennan’s back driving.

Race 8: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) I’M BENICIO A has been racing pretty well of late and he returns from Pocono with some class relief; worth a try if he’s not too low on the tote board. (1) TOPVILLE OLYMPIAN bumps up a notch off a pocket-sitting win and he may be looking at a similar trip tonight. (7) HICKFROMFRENCHLICK broke leaving last out and while he does get some class relief he lands in a difficult outside spot; mixed feelings.

Race 9: NW8 races or $100,000 lifetime Pace

(4) CAPTAIN SLEAZE figures to be heading to the front which can give him a tactical edge on his outside rivals. 3-year-old is by no means a cinch in this competitive field but he should be given every chance with a heads-up Holland drive. (6) OAKWOODNITOWINIT IR moves into age-restricted company and could be a better fit here. (7) J B MAUNEY N was just short in his U.S. debut at Pocono, pacing in 1:50 3/5, and he followed that up with another decent placing; import clearly has talent.

Race 10: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) MARK WITHA K was a solid second last out flashing speed from the eight hole; veteran now moves all the way inside with a legit chance to score. (2) ALL HANDS ON DECK was somehow sent off at 11/1 last week despite hailing from the hottest barn in the universe; 4-year-old steps up again looking for three straight since the move to Team Bongiorno. (6) MELODIES MAJOR looks like he may be finally putting things back together after a years-long dry spell.

Race 11: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) PATERNITY SUIT A has been a consistent player for an extended period of time over at Pocono and that should translate well moving over to Yonkers; Bartlett picks up the drive from this good starting spot. (3) GLOBALDOMINATION N drops a notch in class and also gets needed post relief after having no chance in his last start; prior to that he had three game on-the-board finishes. (1) SANTAFE’S COACH managed to grind by as the odds-on favorite facing lesser last week at Pocono; it’s hard to justify using him on top but he should hit the ticket.

Race 12: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) THE DOWNTOWN BUS is starting to run out of excuses but I’m looking for an aggressive steer tonight by Stratton. (5) ELWELL is up in class off a narrow loss and he certainly fits well here; Bartlett drives. (8) REDBANK BLAZE A was an easy winner last out facing a bit cheaper; eight hole likely seals his fate on the win end but perhaps he can sneak into the number.
