Race 1: NY Excelsior A 2YO Filly Pace
It took two starts at the top level for Ron Burke to realize that (1) ZIRA would be better suited in the Excelsior. Her races in the Geers and NYSS weren't bad, however, and if she's over her sick scratch she can go well from this spot. (2) AT THE HOP has looked good early on with three on-the-board finishes and she goes for a second straight. (7) LADY JERICHO has to contend with the outside post but it appears the ability is there.

Race 2: NY Excelsior A 2YO Filly Pace
(3) SECRET GARDEN qualified nicely in Lexington for Noel Daley and paced evenly after a miscue in her career bow. I'll trust these connections and give her a shot here. (4) HULA GIRL Z TAM is another in the long line of 'Z Tams' for Pat Lachance. She'll be coming on late. (1) B ON THE HUNT has some NYSS experience and didn't have the best of trips last week.

Race 3: NY Excelsior A 2YO Filly Pace
(1) SOUTHWIND BELLA is two-for-two to start her career for Brett Pelling and driver Jack, including overcoming an early break on debut. She should be the one to beat at odds-on. (6) DOING MARVELOUS actually won a NYSS event to begin her career but I guess the connections are more comfortable at this lower level; interesting. (5) IDEAL STAR broke last week at Monti but the Burke trainee was a decent third the start prior in a NYSS test.
Race 4: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace
(3) ALL ABOUT THE HUNT cruised at odds-on in 1:49 4/5 in a NW2 last start at The Meadolands. Assuming the Burke trainee handles the half-mile he should be awfully tough in here. (2) EXOTIC SAND steps up to NW4 despite being set back to second in a tough-luck race last week; Corelli trainee has looked very good in his last three. (6) TRENDY TEEN switched to the Engblom barn before last week's race and he jogged in a NW2; big threat.
Race 5: NY Excelsior A 2YO Filly Pace
(2) REC TIME is a neck shy of a three-race winning streak in the Excelsior A and last week she drew away by open lengths at Monti with Bartlett driving. Mare draws well here and figures to make an early move to the front and prove tough to catch. (3) IDEAL COVER shows late breaks in two of her four career starts but still seems to have proven competitive with these and the Erv Miller trainee can offer some value in the exotics. (1) CELIA B MONEY was also a winner last out at Monticello but she went a full second slower than the top choice.
Race 6: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace
(3) JOSSIE JAMES A has missed a bit of time but the Garcia-Herrera has proven competitive with this type and she was a fast-closing second to the odds-on winner last out. Marohn gets the drive tonight subbing for Dube and she should be a decent price in this wide-open event. (4) HEAVENISSOFARAWAY pretty much toured the track from the eight hole upon arrival from Ohio. Mare drops in for a tag, gets an improved post and should be more involved. (6) MILLWOOD BONNIE N closed with solid pace last week and figures to be a big price.
Race 7: NYSS 2YO Filly Pace
(3) VIVIANS DREAM is perfect in four career races with over $100K banked already. Connections have been live all over, including winning an Ohio Sire Stakes event last week at Northfield. (2) EARTHWINDANDFIRE has also looked good in her brief racing career and was a close second to the top one at Tioga. (6) SILKY STRIDE qualified nicely for Mark Harder but finds a tough spot to debut.

Race 8: NYSS 2YO Filly Pace
(1) HUNTING SEASON is by far the most accomplished in here, as she's won twice already and now faces maidens. Schnittker homebred will offer no value but should handle these. (4) ROCK MY COLORS almost pulled off an upset last week at Monticello and a similar effort will land her a large share. (5) TEAM COLORS closed in :27 4/5 last week; Stratton drives again.
Race 9: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) JOESSTAR OF MIA A totally lost his action and stopped to a walk in his last pari-mutuel try (at 1/9). Dowse trainee took a month off and qualified back with vigor. I'll assume he's good to go and he can cap off a chalky night at the Hilltop. (2) OAKWOODNITOWNIT IR was collared last start by a sharp rival; it's been a while since he's found the winner's circle but he has been racing well. (4) FORTIFY went from Takter to Burke for his last start and was a solid uncovered winner versus a notch lesser.
