Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 8/13

Matt Rose|Aug 12, 2024
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2024 MEET STATS: 274 - 898 / $1,503.40 (-$292.60)

BEST BETS: 40 - 77 / $145.10 (-$8.90)

BEST BET: BUGABOO LOU (7th)

SPOT PLAY: ALWAYS BE CITY (10th)

Race 1: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(3) PEMBROKE SOUTHIE has been a steady earner all year long for the Bongoirno stable and she drops in for the $40K tag tonight, where it appears she'll be a good fit. 4YO mare is likely to be moving forward off the gate and is a candidate to take this on the front end. (1) CALLMEQUEENBEE A moves back to the rail and gets a driver change to Bartlett. She hasn't won yet at this level for these connections but she's been competitive and looms a major player here. (4) COALFORDSNSHINE GB had hit the board twice since being claimed and bumping to this level. She should land another share tonight.

Race 2: $60,000-$75,000 Claiming Pace

(6) ROCK DIAMONDS N has won eight in a row facing similar and the outside post is never a concern as he's got plenty of speed. Veteran has been off a couple of weeks which can be viewed negatively or positively depending how you look at it, but either way this ageless veteran is the top pick until he loses. (3) JUST BET IT ALL was a close second to the top one two starts back then rolled on the front end last out; Engblom trainee has raced well with Buter in the bike and he's the main threat. (5) TWIN B DELUXE is back in for a tag and he's another one that's in stellar form. He could give #6 an early tussle.

Race 3: NW17311 in last 5 starts Pace

Competitive field here with many sharp entrants. (2) KINGSVILLE could not make up any late ground in last week's :27 2/5 sprint home but the post relief is important here as this DiDomenico trainee always comes up with big miles when drawn inside. (4) CASINO ACTION has flashed good early speed in his last two but has been coming up a bit short in the late stages. He can be forwardly placed again looking for a trip to be in the number. (1) WATTSUP SUNSHINE A makes his third start since arriving from Austrailia and he's been okay in his first two tries. Seems like the Vallee trainee isn't far off from that initial win.

Race 4: 2-4YO NW1 race or $22,307 lifetime Pace

(1) PORTERS MAN is 4 for 10 this year racing north of the border but he still fits into this NW1 condition. Looks like he's ready for action off that Montcello qualifier. (4) JERSEY BEACH arrives from Philly off two strong performances and he picks up the leading driver. He's the clear one to beat here. (2) MOSES also arrives from Pennsylvania and while still a maiden he's been close in many recent races.

Race 5: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(4) NO WIN NO FEED A goes for three of four and will be tough to deny assuming she doesn't get roughed up at all. (1) CELIA B MONEY moves back inside and the Burke trainee is a logical candidate to complete a chalky exacta. (6) MORNING HAS BROKEN is a certified closer and she's in for a tag tonight. Not sure what type of flow we're looking at in this race but she should be in the vicinity late.

Race 6: 2-5YO winners of 2-4 races or $60,000 lifetime Pace

(5) ON TIME DELIVERY raced decently in his local debut to be close third and the Engblom trainee is the one who figures to benefit most from that trip over the track. He's shown speed on occasion and with a post edge on some of the major talent in here Stratton figures to be forwardly placed early. (6) OHOKA LE BRON N brushed and crushed two back then was rebuffed last start. Reasonable trip puts him right there. (1) AYR BALMORAL GB was a game uncovered winner last out and Joe B. is driving the Burke trainee again; big threat from the rail.

Race 7: NW10261 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) BUGABOO LOU drops in class and that looks like just what the doctor ordered to get this Burke trainee to the winner's circle. (6) ROCKIN JUKEBOX is up a notch after blowing away a NW7500 field at five cents on the dollar; Bongiorno trainee goes for three straight as he works his way back up the class ladder. (1) DIVINE RIGHT has only made one Yonkers start for these connections but he's been racing well out of town and could land a piece with a top effort.

Race 8: $60,000-$75,000 Claiming Pace

Mixed bag of veteran pacers here. (1) SHAZAM BLUE CHIP drops in for the $60K tag tonight for the Engblom barn and he's been right there in his last two at the NW30000 level. Seems to be a good fit here and Bartlett drives again leaving from the rail. (7) REIGNING DEO has been a model of consistency recently though doesn't have a win over the last few months to show for it. Tough post and but that ensures good value. (3) TUFFENUFTOWEARPINK has been racing very well for multiple barns and he steps up for his latest connections on the strength of a sixth-to-first sweep last week.

Race 9: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) MARLBANK ROAD dropped to the basement last week and faltered late after setting a pressured pace; Stafford trainee gets a chance to redeem himself, hopefully on the lead or right in behind. (6) MIND HUNTER changes barns from Engblom to Adamczyk and jogged in a sizzling 1:53 4/5 at Monri. Bartlett picks up the drive in his local return. (5) THRASHER has been a disappointment since being claimed for $40K back in June but look at those posts he's had to work with...7,6,6,7,5,7.

Race 10: F&M $25,000 Claiming Pace

(2) ALWAYS BE CITY has raced well in most of her recent races and has picked up a win and a few other board finishes for the Stratton barn. Off-the-pace type does have a post edge here. (4) JUST ROSAS LUCK looks like the main speed here which makes her an obvious threat. (5) NUTTINBUTTHEBEST has faltered badly in her last couple but she gets Bartlett back in the bike and they raced well together three and four back.
