Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 7/28

MEET STATS: 116 - 333 / $610.80 (-$55.20)
BEST BETS: 17 - 29 / $55.30 (-$2.70)
Best Bet:
SPLASH BROTHER (4th)
Spot Play: LYONS LIBERTY (6th)

Race 1 - Excelsior "A" - 3YO C&G Pace

(2) LEVINE is a perfect two-for-two in this season's Excelsior "A" level for Scott Zeron and Megan Scran; colt draws well here and should be able to make one move to best these and keep the streak intact. (1) UHTRED is a late-bloomer with just one lifetime start but that was a pretty serious qualifier back on 7/17. (5) ALWAYS ON THE HUNT was second best last start in a 1:50 3/5 mile at Vernon and clearly the Schnittker trainee fits better at this "A" level.

Race 2 - Excelsior "A" - 3YO C&G Pace

(1) REDBREAST HANOVER was unable to get involved up at Tioga in his career debut and has missed a month's time since that effort but he draws best in a soft division and this stable has had some success in the past with NY breds. (2) ROBUSTO BLUE CHIP raced here last week in an overnight event and had some late traffic trouble; Bartlett drives again for Stark, Jr and should be close up throughout. (4) CHIEF OF STAFF has rallied decently in his last few and could threaten late with a smooth trip. (5) SUNSETBOOZECRUISE is coming off a sick scratch but was solid in prior starts.

Race 3 - NYSS - 3YO C&G Pace

(4) MAJOR BETTS goes second-time Lasix, was a Meadowlands Pace finalist (though nowhere to be found at 62/1) and was a bit disappointing a week earlier in the elimination but if he can run back to his last NYSS effort the Harder trainee could be tough to deny. (3) GROOVY JOE is a talented Roll With Joe offspring coming off a devastating 1:48 4/5 win at Vernon and he'll be forwardly placed. (5) BLANK STARE is a legit player here but is at a tactical disadvantage with the top two drawn inside of him.

Race 4 - NYSS - 3YO C&G Pace

(5) SPLASH BROTHER started his 3-year-old campaign with two powerhouse performances at The Meadowlands and carried that form into the NYSS; Schnittker trainee showed some needed versatility with that off-the-pace score last out and he's clearly the one to beat here. (1) SAVE ME A DANCE has yet to win in the NYSS but has been a steady performer for Andrew Harris and he'll be in line for a good trip with Bartlett from the best post. (2) GENIUS MAN added Lasix last start and responded with an easy win versus overnight foes at Philly. (4) FREEDOM WARRIOR prepped nicely with a morning trial after missing a NYSS leg.

Race 5 - Excelsior "A" - 3YO C&G Pace

(3) SCRAPPIN GOLD hasn't shown a heck of a lot thus far in his career but he had some late interest last out and he fails from the hot Travis Alexander barn; worth a look if the price is decent. (7) HURRIKANEKINGJAMES is clearly the most accomplished in here as he was a $100K earner as a freshman; he'll need to show sharp early speed to help overcome the poor draw. (6) MY PAL JOE has hinted at serious ability for trainer/driver Alek Chartrand but he may be at a bit of a disadvantage from the outside post going up against more seasoned pilots; needs a perfect steer.

Race 6 - Excelsior "A" - 3YO C&G Pace

(3) LYONS LIBERTY shipped from Canada to join the Jenn Bongiorno barn and had post eight in an overnight event after missing over a month but he swept past a tired field impressively to win going away and he may be ready for more. (2) DARBIE'S IDEAL has looked good in all three 2020 tries and he lands a good post. (4) AMERIORE was sharp from off the pace three back and the same tactics will probably be employed tonight. Looks like a crapshoot for the minor awards.

Race 7 - NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) MY SPIRIT SOARS came back from the shutdown and went a solid effort in defeat; Temming trainee faces some questionable foes inside of him and could work out a trip here at a decent price. (1) BADIX HANOVER has loads of back class but his recent form doesn’t inspire much confidence. (4) TIGERS WAY didn't fire at all last start for Lachance; he should be better than that.

Race 8 - NW10000 in last 5 starts

(2) BOBBY DAZZLER is a recent addition to the Jenn Bongiorno barn and he was a good second in his pari-mutuel try here a few months ago; top billing. (6) YEAHNAH is arguably one of the most talented in here but may need some help with a live trip. (1) CANBEC KINGKAZIMIR is a bonafide speed threat from the best post. (3) HUDSONANDBERNARD has just one win over the last two seasons but he seemingly finds a better spot here and should be able to land a share.
