MEET STATS: 113 - 325 / $599.70 (-$50.30)
BEST BETS: 16 - 28 / $52.40 (-$3.60)
Best Bet: FIREBALL (8th)
Spot Play: DAN DALEY ENTRY (4th)
Race 1 - NW5000 in last 5 starts Trot
(5) CREDIT FRAUD has been facing some decent stock recently at The Meadowlands with just moderate success; Abbatiello trainee should be a perfect fit at this NW5000 level and she picks up the catch-driving Marohn, Jr tonight. (2) LIMERANCE has been a money-earner versus much better and will appreciate the drop in class; one to beat. (4) THE CUSE IS LOOSE was a winner in an amateur event in his last local try; he could be a threat if he behaves. (3) NOBLE WARRAWEE has back class with almost $370K earned.
Race 2 - NYSS - 3YO Colts & Geldings Trot
(1) BARN HOLDEN hails from a very sharp barn on the NYSS circuit (Steven Pratt - had a win here last week with Jeff Gregory driving); Conway Hall-sired colt draws a good midpack post and seems very versatile. (2) HOBBS looked good taking the EBC at Vernon with Bartlett driving; likely one to catch. (5) TAKE THE CREDIT is still a maiden but the Svanstedt trainee has come back with three solid efforts as a sophomore.
Race 3 - NYSS - 3YO Colts & Geldings Trot
(3) CHAPITANA gave way on the front end in that EBC test at Vernon but I suspect the Smedshammer trainee is better stalking; he was an easy winner here as a 2-year-old and was a solid runner-up in the NYSS final. (5) BERKERY J made a costly break sitting the trip last out upstate; body of work has been solid for this Ducharme trainee prior to that miscue. (4) BOURBON EXPRESS put the hobbles back on and qualified safely; Okusko trainee banked $130K as a freshman despite multiple miscues.
Race 4 - Excelsior "A" 3YO Colts & Geldings Trot
(1A) REDNECKERTHENYOU and (1) MID CHAPTER form a pretty decent-looking Dan Daley entry despite being a combined 0 for 12 lifetime. Both colts follow the usual M.O. from this barn - good speed and well-mannered. (4) MARK OF A BEAST is a late-bloomer who is two-for-two lifetime; he gets a bit of a test tonight facing better. (3) DOUBLE DEALING draws well and is certainly fast enough to go with these. (2) BONES JONES was obviously unprepared for NYSS action in his career debut and the Noel Daley trainee quickly drops to the Excelsior level.
Race 5 - Excelsior "A" 3YO Colts & Geldings Trot
(3) BOOK SEVEN was an easy winner at 1/9 odds when last in with Excelsior types for Andy and Julie Miller; Chapter Seven offspring is clearly the most accomplished of these. (2) PARTY BOY HANOVER has looked good sweeping from off the pace to take his last two versus lesser competition and he seems sharp enough to go with these. (1) BRONZE YANKEE broke last start in the EBC but was a good second the start prior; he will be close up throughout provided he behaves himself early.
Race 6 - Excelsior "A" 3YO Colts & Geldings Trot
(4) CONQUEST AS was an easy winner upstate in his 3-year-old debut and Bartlett driving for the Lorentzon barn always merits tons of respect. (2) DISCUS HANOVER managed to pick up a very small check two back in NYSS competition and followed that up with a decisive score versus overnight foes; he's a big player from this inside spot. (7) ALL RISE may actually be fastest of these but needs to overcome the worst post. (3) LINGER HANOVER hails from the Schnittker barn and has been sure-gaited in all appearances on the track.
Race 7 - NW5000 in last 5 starts Trot
(2) FRIEND OF NATURE S makes just his third start since arriving from Sweden and while he seems like a risky play with his unknown pilot then feels like a good spot facing some suspect rivals. (5) ANNAPOLIS HALL and (6) MAJESTIC MOMENT N are a couple of veteran trotters both coming off no-excuse efforts but they do look like primary contenders here. (3) MIGHTY SURF raced well for a board spot at 63/1 last out.
Race 8 - NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace
(1) FIREBALL has clearly tailed off before the shutdown but he finished willingly in that last start and he seems to have a class edge on these; not much value to be had, however. (5) QUICK ASA TRICK N takesd a needed drop in class for the Cassar barn and he picks up Zeron with Stratton opting off. (6) PICKLED PREACHER was Stratton's choice and he went a big effort for a board spot after being brutally hung; Laterza barn has been going well. (4) TWIN B SPEEDO worked out a nice trip to score at generous odds last out, he’s got back class.
