Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 7/13

Matt Rose|Jul 12, 2021
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 227 - 640 / $1,269.60 (-$10.40)

BEST BETS: 31 - 63 / $100.30 (-$25.70)

Best Bet: AHUNDREDDOLLARBILL (3rd)

Spot Play: MAC'S JACKPOT (11th)

Race 1: $12,500 Claiming Pace

(5) ART HISTORY dropped in for a tag last week and put in his first good effort in quite a while; veteran can build off that race and get that long-awaited win. (2) DEERFIELD BEACH goes for another new barn off the claim and is in relatively good form; he's logical here from this good post. (7) DESIRE'S CAPTAIN never got involved in his local debut when taking no money from an outside post and the Jenn Bongiorno trainee lands outside again but faces a softer group; watch the board.

Race 2: NYSS 3YO C&G Trot

(4) AMBASSADOR HANOVER was recently second best in the Yonkers Trot and now faces a field of just four NY-bred rivals; Svanstedt trainee should easily handle these at around 10 cents on the dollar. (3) STEEL broke leaving in the YR trot elimination two back and followed that up with a steady effort in Excelsior action; Julie Miller trainee is back at the NYSS level and can round out the exacta with smooth sailing. (5) SEVENSHADESOFGREY never really seemed comfortable last start and ultimately broke at 1/20 odds; he's outside now in this abbreviated field and could flash some late interest.

Race 3: NYSS 3YO C&G Trot

(4) AHUNDREDDOLLARBILL was one of the headliners in the Yonkers Trot but failed to seriously threaten in the final as the winner got away too easily on the front end. Alagna trainee should handle these with ease. (1) DEWEY ARNOLD is back at the top level coming off a good front-end score at Goshen in the Excelsior; second best? (5) INCOMMUNICADO is another legit talent from Svanstedt but unfortunately he's drawn outside the top one.

Race 4: EXCELSIOR A 3YO C&G Trot

(1) CHAPOLIER and (1A) BARN HALL make up a decent Purple Haze entry and either one of them is capable of taking this. (6) ROYSON’S PUNCH raced very well here in a couple of recent overnight races and he comes off an unfortunate miscue in last week's Excelsior; he'll be a big threat here if Zeron can get him in play from the outside post. (4) BEANTOWN MADNESS has been slow to get underway this season after a decent freshman campaign but clearly the talent is there.

Race 5: NW1 race or $14,900 lifetime Pace

(3) ROSE RUN WOODROW never got involved last week facing better from the seven hole. He drops into a soft NW1 and figures to make his presence felt. (1) IDEAL BEACH comes out of the same race as the top one and did take some tote action but offered no rally; expect a much more aggressive effort tonight. (7) HURRIKANEKINGCARLO hasn't done much in his brief career but maybe tonight's change of venue will help.

Race 6: NW2 races or $25,000 Lifetime

(3) SOLID ALIBI had a much-improved effort on tap when returning locally and the Nik Drennan trainee can get over the hump tonight. (2) SHAKESPEARE is earning a reputation as a money-burner. He's always right there but can't seal the deal; favored again? (6) CAPTAIN ROMANCE has taken two straight in blowout fashion over at Pocono with Bartlett driving; watch out!

Race 7: NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace

(3) WATER SPORTS TEEN not surprisingly was ready to go for his debut upon moving to the Jenn Bongiorno barn and he paced away in 1:51. He's in a prime spot to repeat. (1) CRUNCH HANOVER chased the top one in vein last week and he may have the exact same trip tonight. (4) DEAN B HANOVER is an interesting Pennsylvania shipper for Pelling and has been first or second in five of six this season; unfortunately he's drawn outside his main competition here.

Race 8: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) GRIFFON HANOVER doesn't have the greatest record this season but he's much improved in his last couple; Devita trainee gets Stratton tonight. (6) THISJETSABOOKIN drops to the lowest conditioned class and figures to awaken for Bongiorno. (8) ROCK N TONY is back from a stint at Hawthorne and he fits perfectly with this kind. Eight hole may ruin his chances of winning but maybe he can sneak onto the ticket.

Race 9: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) WAIMAC ATTACK N returns locally off a win at Tioga and he generally performs well at these mid-level conditioned classes; post gives Marohn some tactical options. (3) MISTER SPOT A gave way badly on the front end two back but was better last start when taking it easy; he switches to Bartlett tonight with the barn change to Shane Tritton and improvement is expected. (5) OUR CORELLI N gets class relief for a barn that's performed well this year.

Race 10: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(1) CAPTIVATE HANOVER seemed to be in a good spot on paper last starts but he jumped it off in the first turn. He gets another crack from the rail to make amends. (3) SIX DEGREES raced great in defeat three back then came right back and scored the big upset. Speedy Schnittker trainee figures to be heading to the top. (7) KEYSTONE NOLAN has raced very well for Lachance but he's stuck outside again.

Race 11: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) MAC'S JACKPOT is too classy to still be shut out on the season. Veteran faces a bit softer tonight and is just a live trip away from getting it done. (6) OSTRO HANOVER faltered as the chalk last week and he also drops a notch. (1) WINSONG JACK has steadily been climbing the class ladder for the Stalbaum barn and he gets Bartlett to catch-drive tonight.

Race 12: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) FUNATTHEBEACH N hit town for Jenn Bongiorno and motored home from last to first like it was no big deal; Gelding moves inside now ready to tackle tougher. (2) I'M SOME GRADUATE is having a bit of an off year for Burke yet he's still tough not to include. (5) ORILLIA JOE has good speed that can get him in play and he figures to be a healthy price.
