Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 6/6
?q=100)
2023 MEET STATS: 182 - 513 / $853.30 (-$172.70)
BEST BETS: 30 - 48 / $96.70 (+$0.70)
BEST BET: SIMON SAYS HANOVER (5th)
SPOT PLAY: EL LE TISSIER N (2nd)
Race 1: 3-5YO NW8 races or $100,000 lifetime Pace
(3) MY MIKI BEACH took a shot from the pocket last week but he was outfinished late, though beaten just a length. He faces many of the same and they seem evenly-matched enough to think this gelding could win with a bit more favorable trip. (6) GREG THE LEG dropped back to this NW8 level after being in the Open for 3-5YO his prior two and he just missed; Engblom trainee lands outside again but Bartlett won't be looking to sit last. (5) JK GOING WEST handled the pressure from the top two to prevail but it may be a bit harder to make the front than it was last week.

Race 2: NW20751 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) EL LE TISSIER N made his U.S. debut last week at Freehold's top level and he launched a last-to-first move only to be outfinished late. He gets Bartlett now for his second start and I suspect we'll see some early speed. (2) HICKFROMFRENCHLICK went wire-to-wire in game fashion versus a notch lesser and he's clearly a prime contender here in this abbreviated field. (1) MY ULTIMATE STAR A has been sharp for an extended period of time for the Lance Hudson barn.

Race 3: 2-4YO NW1 race or $12,500 lifetime Pace
(1) FUGLEMAN is 0 for 18 and counting in his career but he just missed here last week and this is a live spot to finally get it done. (3) CIRCLING THE PREY was a bit overmatched at the NW2 level in a race that went 1:53 2/5 but he was a winner versus similar a start prior. (6) EVERYBODYLOVESLOU seems like he should be better than he's showing and the Toscano trainee is also looking for the maiden-breaking score.
Race 4: NW15181 in last 5 starts; AE NW9 Pace
(3) MICKY GEE N is tough to take sometimes but at least he's been racing regularly which could be viewed as a positive. If close enough in the late stages he can reach. (1) SLING SHOCK put in a solid effort in defeat last out versus better and is the obvious chalk here. (2) DON DOMINGO N has been off half a year but his second qualifier was much better than the first and while I don't see him winning here he should be able to hold his ground late.
Race 5: Can You Go The Distance? NW7651 in last 5 starts 1/2 mile Pace
Obvious angle to look at in these half-mile sprints is speed from reasonable posts. (4) SIMON SAYS HANOVER is one of a few horses that have returned to the States and into the Bako barn and they've been live. Bartlett sticks with him over an Engblom trainee. (1) SIX FEET APART is the aforementioned Engblom's recent claim, and the connections paid a pretty hefty price considering his recent accomplishments. This is some class and post relief. (5) NIGHT WATCHMAN hasn't looked good for Burke but he has shown some speed and is listed at 20/1.
Race 6: 3-5YO NW2 races or $25,000 lifetime Pace
(3) RAYRAY has been very sharp upstate at Monti and Tioga, and he ships in to take a shot at twice the money. The 1:53 4/5 mile three back proves he's fast enough. (6) LOUS THE ATTITUDE missed a nose last week and he's an obvious player again (and likely favorite). (1) BARBOSSA HANOVER was bet down to 2/1 in his second 3YO start but he broke going to three quarters; he moves all the way inside and deserves another look.
Race 7: Can You Go The Distance? NW7651 in last 5 starts 1/2 mile Pace
(2) BETTOR SUN is still sitting on zero wins this year but the Engblom trainee has been facing better stock in practically every start. Expect aggressive early handling by Bartlett as he only needs to go one lap. (1) HURRIKANEKINGJAMES was second best to the standout Simon Says Hanover last start; recent addition to the Berkeley barn is also overdue for a win. The top two here figure to totally dominate the wagering and it looks like a crapshoot for the rest. Maybe (6) PURPLE POET can fill out the Tri.

Race 8: 3-5YO NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace
Tough race to figure with multiple shippers. (1) WILLIAM HANOVER has plenty of recent half-mile experience shipping in from Saratoga and he lands the rail while picking up the leading driver. Maybe he can carry his speed a bit further than he's been showing. (5) MORE THAN YA KNOW has shown some real promise in the PA Stallion series. (4) KRAKEN SEELSTER had obviously been facing much tougher in the NJSS and the Toscano trainee is looking for his first top-three finish (and first check) of the season.
Race 9: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace
(5) BETTER WATCH IT ran away and hid last week and aside from that break in stride two back she's got three wins at this claiming level; Garcia-Herrera trainee is versatile and Dube has options from this post. (1) GOLDEN QUEST N was collared late in her first try for the Daguet barn and Bartlett gets the drive. (3) WILDCAT ANTONIA has closed very willingly in her last couple with Siegelman catch-driving for Burke.
