Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 6/18

Matt Rose|Jun 17, 2024
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2024 MEET STATS: 187 - 654 / $1,023.50 (-$284.50)

BEST BETS: 27 - 56 / $103.10 (-$8.90)

BEST BET: ROCK DIAMONDS N (2nd)

SPOT PLAY: GREG THE LEG (9th)

Race 1: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(6) REAL LADY SADIE drops back to the $20K level, where she was a winner last time out, and she clearly has the speed to make the front from this post. (4) ROLL WITH SHORTY also has early speed which should be on display now with the post improvement over her last two efforts. (8) DANDY'S SHOWTIME hails from live connections and is legit in this class but obviously she needs to overcome the tough eight hole.

Race 2: $60,000-$75,000 Claiming Pace

(3) ROCK DIAMONDS N is the dominant force at this level week after week and he'll be deservedly odds-on to take his fourth straight. (2) CAVIART SARGENT raced well last week to secure the pocket from the top one and be second best; same trip is likely tonight. (4) MICKY GEE N was better last week and I suppose he can grind his way onto the ticket.

Race 3: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(2) PLEASURE SEEKER finished fast last start to just miss and overall she's been a model of consistency over the last six weeks or so; post improvement should have her much closer to the pace or maybe on the lead. (4) TYRA MAKES BANK came up a bit short upon arrival from Delaware but then got it done in her second start; obvious threat to win again. (5) EVAS SPORTS CZECH was put on the lead last week and folded pretty badly; likely to be off the pace tonight at an honest price.

Race 4: NW18801 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) CAPTIVATE HANOVER has come up a bit short in his last two but his overall body of work shines over the rest of these and he deserves top billing in here. (1) SHAZAM BLUE CHIP has raced well in three starts for Engblom after coming over from The Meadowlands but his record this year of only one win and ten other on-the-board finished makes him logical to use underneath. (2) NIGHT HAWK comes out of the same race as the top choice where he was a non-threatening fourth but now he has a slight post edge on that rival; no surprise if the Burke trainee improves enough to take this.

Race 5: F&M $25,000 Claiming Pace

(2) LARJON LEAH rolled down the road in her first start for Laterza and this barn has been solid all year playing the claiming game. Bongiorno catch-drove in that win and gets the call again. (1) ON THE MONEY GB rallied from off the pace to win two of her last three and she figured to be coming from behind the speed again. (5) SAUBLE DELIGHTFUL is a logical speed player here but may need a bit more late.

Race 6: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(1) SHOTGUN PERSUATION was a strong winner at huge odds in her local return for a new listed trainer in Ruiz. That was an arguably softer field as she's now priced at the $20K level but I'll come right back with her. (5) SUNSET SOPH gets a driver change to Holland and we know he likes to be aggressive; mare upset two back and will be a price again. (2) TERACITA was in a different zip code last week but she moves back inside which should make her a contender again.

Race 7: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(6) IDEALINFUN went from last to first two back, then dominated on the front end. Engblom trainee gets the call again despite drawing outside her main competition. (2) NUTTINBUTHEBEST isn't at her sharpest but the inside draw can allow Kakaley to save ground close to the front and offer one late move. (4) PURE SILKY goes for Bako off the $50K claim and is an obvious contender.

Race 8: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) DP REALORDEAL wasn't bad in his first start for the Burke Brigade and he seems capable of improving enough to challenge for the top spot. (1) CASINO ACTION N took three starts to reach the winner's circle after arriving from New Zealand and obviously he could have more to offer. (3) BENHOPE RULZ N drops down a notch and also gets needed post relief.

Race 9: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) GREG THE LEG left hard with Holland last week to secure the pocket behind the logical winner and was a good second. Gelding can be sent out of there again and is a threat to lead a long way or work out another live stalking trip. (1) MY ULTIMATE BYRON A was in too tough last week facing Dunkin' and company. This is a better class for him and he's back to the rail. (2) MIKITEEN faces mostly more seasoned rivals now but he's been right there in all recent.

Race 10: 2-5YO Winners of 2-4 races or $64,629 LT Pace

(4) MIDNIGHT THUNDER was handled aggressively by Holland last out and it almost worked but he faltered late. This 4YO is not too far removed his lifetime-best 1:52 1/5 win and will offer a fair price with #3 taking the action. (3) RENAISSANCE DEO has come up a tad short in his last two but still the Tritton trainee deserves a ton of respect. (1) RAYRAY has shown in the past that he can keep up with this type so from the rail perhaps he can land a piece.

Race 11: NW10331 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) AFLAME HANOVER has plenty of back class and almost $600K banked for his connections; he arrives off the strength of a 1:50 4/5 score at Pocono. I'm inclined to take a chance if he projects to be in the 8/1 range. (3) SOHO LENNON A is the epitome of class and he's back for a spin as a 14YO. Judging by that qualifier he's still got some life in those legs. (6) METAL MAN takes a needed drop in class but the 4YO needs to show more.

Race 12: 2-5YO Winners of 2-4 races or $60,000 LT Pace

(3) ICACO HANOVER was the pick last week and he delivered with a multiple-move win; right back. (1) SINBAD N moves in to the rail so he figures to be laying closer to the front; obvious player and likely favorite. (2) MIDNIGHT NATION gets significant post relief and can land a piece in a race that looks like it will be controlled by the inside horses.
