Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 5/3

Matt Rose|May 02, 2022
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 137 - 443 / $661.30 (-$224.70)

BEST BETS: 24 - 40 / $81.30 (+$1.90)

Best Bet: ESCAPETOTHEBEACH (7th)

Spot Play: ITZPAPALOTL (5th)

Race 1: F&M NW2 races or $25,000 lifetime Pace

(6) MAJOR LOVER made her last two starts at the NW4 level and hit the board in both efforts; Bucci trainee faces softer tonight and despite drawing outside I can envision Siegelman getting aggressive in the early stages. (3) AMERICAN JAZZ picked up minor shares in three rounds of Weiss action at Pocono and she had a reasonably productive two-year-old season. (1) BEACHBLANKETLINDY has plenty of local experience but is just 1 for 29 lifetime.

Race 2: NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace

(4) GOOD OLE ETHIN arrives from The Meadows off a nice win, joins the Cory Stratton barn and Jordan drives. Lots to like. (3) MAKIN SOME NOISE gets away from the tough Tritton trainee tonight and also draws better; dangerous. (1) HIGH BALLER finished second in the MGM Gents final and an okay third last start at this level; he is off three weeks, however.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 3: F&M NW4 races or $50,935 lifetime Pace

(3) JOYRIDE HANOVER was a legit stakes player as a freshman for Nifty Norman and she showed :26 1/5 closing speed in that recent qualifier at The Meadowlands. She may not be fully cranked here but she does look best and may be able to control these without having to be used too hard. (5) OAKWOOD CORAL IR has been very consistent for Bongiorno and looks like the best alternative to the top one. (6) COZ IM SPECIAL hasn't put in a bad effort in five local starts for Erv and Marcus Miller.

Race 4: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

Is (3) LIFEONTHEBEACH A routine selecting moving to Team Bongiorno off the $50K claim and getting much-needed post relief? Maybe. (1) BOBCAT BAY blew away a soft field of claimers upon arrival and now draws best. (5) ALOTBETTOR N finally showed some life last start when dropped to this level.

Race 5: F&M NW8 races or $100,000 lifetime Pace

(2) ITZPAPALOTL came up a bit short in her seasonal debut at Philly but the winner went in 1:50 2/5. She draws inside most of her main competition and should be a bit tighter. (4) PLZDONTLIETOME N bumped to this tough NW8 level and missed a neck; Stratton trainee is a player. (5) THINK OF GALAXIES was a NYSS and Breeders Crown finalist as a 3-year-old and missed a head and a neck in her two seasonal races, both good speed tries.

Race 6: Nw4 races or $52,100 lifetime Pace

(5) SAMSON BLUE CHIP has been putting in some rugged speed efforts lately without a win to show for it but he figures to find the wire eventually. Maybe tonight's the night. (1) JIM BLUE was a solid second in his seasonal debut, beating the top choice in the process. (3) BORN A REBEL is a nose shy of a three-race win streak since exiting the MGM Series and Brennan gets the catch drive tonight.

Race 7: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) ESCAPETOTHEBEACH had no chance of reaching last week from second over into a well-rated pace but he was a good winner the start prior and he draws well here with Stratton picking up the drive. (3) ON THE CARDS N comes out of the same race as the top choice and the Burke trainee had less than zero chance coming out of the eight hole. (6) SON OF A TIGER N was a strong second last week and finished in sub-:27; tough spot here but maybe he can squeeze out a share.

Race 8: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(5) FEELIN RED HOT got exactly what she needed to score last week...a soft half. She deserves top billing again but won't offer much value. (2) MORNING HAS BROKEN goes for the Bako barn now off the claim after a failed try with Burke; if she's not used until late in the mile she can fly home. (4) VELOCITY MCSWEETS kept up most of the way with the top one last week; she can be a board threat at a price with smooth sailing.

Race 9: NW2 races or $25,000 lifetime Pace

(4) THEBIZNES BLUECHIP hails from sharp connections and gets another chance to win at the NW2 level after going wire-to-wire last out. (3) DEFENSIVE PLAYER was a pocket-rocket winner at Philly in his debut for the DiDomenico barn and he can have more to offer; main threat. (7) STILL THIRSTY added Lasix last start and raced better; post hurts but he'll be a good price.
