2024 MEET STATS: 134 - 445 / $732.30 (-$157.70)
BEST BETS: 20 - 38 / $72.40 (-$3.60)
BEST BET: ROLL WITH SHORTY (9th)
SPOT PLAY: LOVERS TROUBLE (6th)
Race 1: F&M $25,000 Claiming Pace
(6) WHATINEEDISAMAN was claimed four starts back for $25K and actually won for $50K first out for new connections but then didn’t get involved in her subsequent two. Laterza trainee drops back down to this class and will offer a price with the two inside rivals attracting all the attention. (2) SAUBLE DELIGHTFUL has reeled off three straight and stays at the winning level, and (1) TERACITA has been chasing that one recently. Both are logical again.

Race 2: $60,000/$75,000 Claiming Pace
(3) SHINE A LIGHT has been right there at the wire in all recent and just needs a bit more racing luck to get it done. I find it amusing that (1) MICKY GEE N explodes home to win twice in a row at big odds then is 70 cents on the dollar and loses! Not that it wasn’t a solid effort however from this classy gelding. (6) POINTOMYGRANSON hasn’t looked this good in years and last week was a culmination of that with his 1:51 mile, home in under :27. He was claimed out of that race however so if he loses the new barn could be used as an excuse.

Race 3: 3-5YO Winners 3-5 races or $60,000 lifetime Pace
(1) MIDNIGHT NATION has looked good in two starts since returning to Yonkers with Lasix added. Vallee trainee figures to be sitting a trip behind the favorite and maybe he’ll have enough late to get by. (6) RENAISSANCE DEO has won powerfully in four straight for the Shane Tritton barn and though he lands outside again there doesn’t appear to be a whole lot of early speed from others to get in his way. (2) ONTOP RAINMAN is 0 for 13 so far this year but he almost always gives a good accounting of himself.
Race 4: $60,000/$75,000 Claiming Pace
(2) ROCK DIAMONDS N came up a bit short on the front end last out after winning two straight but he seems to be in a slightly better spot and the veteran can rebound here. (3) TRAIN STATION was second best to Pointomygranson last week in that 1:51 mile after breaking the start prior. 4YO may have a bit to prove facing some more seasoned foes. (7) STONEBRIDGE REX wired the field at a price last out when able to rate a soft pace; this barn has been hot.
Race 5: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace
(5) PLEASURE SEEKER was in a bit tough last week but she drops back to the level of her win two back where she fended off hard pressure in that amateur event. Marohn, Jr. gets the drive and may be aggressive off the gate. (3) PINK RUBY goes for another new barn tonight (Cory Stratton) and lands a much-improved post. (7) EVAS SPORTS CZECH has won three of four at this level all at good prices and she may be ignored in the wagering again with the outside post.
Race 6: 2-5YO NW3 races or $25,000 Lifetime Pace
(7) LOVERS TROUBLE is fresh stock arriving from Indiana joining the Jen Bongiorno barn and he faces a field of camera-shy types. He should offer some value starting from the outside. (5) LEVI SONIC outraced his odds last week with an aggressive try; similar effort can take this. (3) FIREARM has hit the board in 4 of 5 here this year including a win in his seasonal debut.
Race 7: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace
(1) MISS MAYCEE was a non-factor last week but she was solid in her prior three and now she moves all the way inside to the rail. Driver Dube is in a major slump to start his season but seems to have a live one to drive here. (3) ITTY BITTY may never win a race again but she’ll keep popping up into my top three. Bartlett may have a clear path to the front if he desires. (5) LARJON LEAH is hard not to consider based on her current form.

Race 8: 3-5YO Winners 3-5 races or $60,000 lifetime Pace
(2) SINBAD N was patiently handled at 1/5 last out but got the job done; Pete Tritton should have some speedy targets to run down again. (4) SAVE AMERICA was aggressively put in play in his first start in almost 9 months and he tired in that 1:48 4/5 mile at The Big M. Takter trainee seems to face a bit easier here. (1) HUNTERS HERO was ambitiously placed in the Juravinski elim at Flamboro and that didn’t work out; he won his prior start.
Race 9: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace
(1) ROLL WITH SHORTY has a win and a couple of seconds in her last four local starts and she lands the rail in a pretty soft division of these $20K claimers; I suspect Stratton will be looking to head down the road. (3) ACEFORTYFOUR ALEX gets some needed post relief and Holland drives again; veteran has been competitive with these types for years and she seems due for a wakeup call. (7) ALWAYS B MIMI finished third when up in class and first-time Lasix in her first start off the DiDomenico claim and now she drops back down but draws poorly. Can Brennan get her near the front?
Race 10: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace
(4) NUTTINBUTHEBEST has been one of the most consistent mares recently at this claiming level and meets a field that hasn’t won for this price in a while. Alexander trainee does have some potential speed inside of her but still deserves top billing. (3) Y S SENSATIONALCITY sat and was a non-factor last week; her three prior starts she burned serious money but tonight she figures to offer a price. (2) PURE SILKY is proven at this class but hasn’t raced in a couple of months.
