2023 MEET STATS: 129 - 364 / $584.70 (-$143.30) BEST BETS: 23 - 34 / $76.80 (+$8.80) BEST BET: MOONLIGHT SHADOW (9th) SPOT PLAY: CORAL BELLA (5th) Race 1: Can You Go The Distance F&M 1/2 Mile Pace Interesting card tonight as this is one of four 1/2 mile "sprints" on the program and the pacesetter or first-over horse figure to have a distinct advantage. (3) MAGICAL MISTRESS has shown good early speed on occasion and even if she can't clear the top she may end up in the parked out, first-over spot. (1) LARJON LEAH has the benefit of the rail and Brennan should be gunning. (6) GOLDEN QUEST has class and has been on the improve for Team Bongiorno. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: 3-4YO NW1 race or $12,664 lifetime Pace (6) TACK ROOM CHATTER was a good second last week after sitting the pocket trip; he lands outside now but Bartlett's choice of three in here will be rolling early and will be tough if he hits the front. (2) HUNTING ZONE also raced well coming out of the same race as the top one to be third best and he's still searching for that maiden-breaking score; big chance (3) MR DRESS UP ships in from Canada to join the Engblom barn sporting some mixed form over the half-mile. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: Can You Go The Distance F&M 1/2 Mile Pace (1) TALL POPPY N steps back up to face mostly rivals who have been competing at the $50K claiming level but the Garcia-Herrera trainee was a sharp winner last out and now lands the coveted rail; Dube will be blasting. (4) NUTTINBUTTHEBEST looks like the other main speed in here and it will be interesting to see if she can clear the top. If not, does Brennan hang out on the rim even if there is a hole available, to avoid getting trapped? (3) ACEFORTYFOUR ALEX has been a consistent presence most of the season but she's in for an uncertain trip as she's not the fastest off the wings. Race 4: NW15501 in last 5 starts Pace (6) BEE TWO BEE has a clear class edge in here as he's spent the last six weeks in the Borgata; Brennan figures to have the Burke trainee on the move early. (1) ON ACCIDENT has raced well in two starts after shipping over from The Meadowlands, showing good speed on both occasions. He steps up a notch but should be in line for a good trip. (2) BENHOPE RULZ N gets some post relief and will be close up throughout. Race 5: Can You Go The Distance F&M 1/2 Mile Pace (4) CORAL BELLA has solid early speed and lands in a perfect spot here as the inside three aren't proven fast enough in the early stages. Holland can clear the front and never look back. (5) MIKI ROSE has the unfortunate luck of landing outside the top choice but they figure to be leaving in tandem and she may be the one pressing the pace. (3) LIGHTNING LEIA gets some much-needed post relief for good connections but she's yet to prove herself with this type. Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) STRAIGHT UP COOL gets needed post relief and he does have a win at this level four back; Siegelman gets the call again as Bartlett chose off and he should offer better value in here than a couple of the other logicals. (2) SHAKE IT has been okay in two races starting off his 4-year-old campaign and he does find a good spot but will be overbet. (6) LUCIANO N has been third best in his last five races; why not again? Race 7: Can You Go The Distance F&M 1/2 Mile Pace (1) COWGIRL LILLY has been solid since arriving at Yonkers for the Bako barn and she draws the coveted rail in this half-mile sprint. Kakaley is the one to catch. (5) LINE EM UP could not reach from the eight hole last start but has been right there in every prior start and has five wins already on the season; Bongiorno is sure to be firing from the gate. (6) TONY'S MOM returns off a win at The Meadowlands and these connection have to be respected. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 8: 3-5YO NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace (4) COUNTER OFFER swept a five-horse field at huge odds when shipped in and finished well again last week; Whelan trainee is clearly fast enough but just needs some trip luck. (7) AMBITIOUSBEACHBOY also has a recent win at this NW4 level and does have the speed to overcome the outside post. (5) YO A J went 4 for 7 as a late-blooming 3-year-old and he was a winner in that recent Philly qualifier. Will he need a start? Maybe. Race 9: NW20371 in last 5 starts Pace (5) MOONLIGHT SHADOW has won powerfully in his last two and the Engblom trainee may be sharp enough to handle the double-jump in class. (1) BUDDY HILL never got involved last out and has missed a bit of time but he fits perfectly with these class-wise and could make some noise from the rail. (3) BRAEVIEW BONDI A was second best to last week's sharp winner; should be in the hunt again.
