Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 5/17

Matt Rose|May 16, 2022
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 168 - 523 / $859.00 (-$187.00)

BEST BETS: 28 - 48 / $121.30 (+$25.30)

Best Bet: PLEASELETMEKNOW (4th)

Spot Play: NUTTIN BUT FINESSE (6th)

Race 1: 2-4YO F&M Maiden or NW18501 lifetime Pace

(2) HESTON HONEY raced well here in an Excelsior event last year and returns off a needed race at Philly. Barn does well here with Bartlett driving. (1) MISS DOTTIE MAE took money upon arrival but never fired from midpack chasing a rated pace. She should be more involved tonight from the rail. (6) TONY'S MOM raced decently in her 3YO debut and could have more to offer here.

Race 2: 3-4YO F&M NW2 races or $27,050 lifetime Pace

(5) DANCE TICKET was a winner at The Meadowlands second time out and hasn't missed a check in seven career starts. Ryder trainee should go well here. (4) TIME TO ROAR is clearly the one to beat here on the strength of those two recent Pocono efforts but she also figures to be way overbet. (1) RUNAWAY GIRL is fresh stock from the Laterza barn, which has been relatively live this year. She was tiring in that qualifier but she gets a slight driver upgrade from Peter Mele to Jason Bartlett.

Race 3: 3-5YO F&M NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace

(5) NADINA HANOVER was an easy winner two back and followed that up with a good effort in the Reynolds. Filly has only missed the board once in her career and she deserves top billing facing this well-balanced group. (2) AINTHESAMEWITHOUTU was just short as the odds-on favorite in her 3-year-old debut and she figures to be tighter tonight. (1) MIKI ROSE jogged last week in 1:55 3/5 beating a NW2 field. That was her first start for new connections and she figures to have more to offer; big chance here.

Race 4: 3-5YO NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(5) PLEASELETMEKNOW was the MGM Springfield winner and NYSS finalist as a 2-year-old, and raced willingly in his seasonal debut in the Reynolds Pace. Spaccarelli trainee is clearly the one to beat here. (6) KINGSVILLE raced well in his last two in the Weiss over at Pocono and he returns locally now in the Dowse barn. He's a legit threat but drawing outside the top one hurts his chances. (2) FOXHUNT added Lasix for his seasonal debut and finished well but these are tougher he's facing tonight.

Race 5: 2-4YO Maiden C&G Pace

(1) LENDA HAND MAN recently moved to the Jenn Bongiorno barn and jogged in two straight at Freehold in variant-busting efforts. I expect Joe B to be trying to take this field down the road. (2) TEAM MAC came up a neck short last week and figures to be right there again from this spot. (5) XMARXTHESPOT arrives off a nice win at Pocono and the team of Erv and Marcus Miller has been solid here all season.

Race 6: 3-5YO NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace

(3) NUTTIN BUT FINESSE has looked sharp up at Saratoga and battled hard last out versus some tough foes. He gets a major upgrade here from the trainer in the bike to Stratton. (6) SPRINGBRIDGE DUEL didn't fire his best last start but was a 13-length winner the start prior at Philly in 1:51 2/5; Bongiorno trainee should be a player here. (5) SETH HANOVER returns from time off for Burke and already has two local wins this year.

Race 7: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) BELTANE A seems to be working his way back into shape after being on a solid run earlier in the year; Bartlett gets the drive tonight from the best post. (7) ALWAYS AND AGAIN has been facing better recently with moderate success; he is capable of leaving the gate and I expect Yannick to employ those tactics. (2) GLACIS was used in the early stages last week and weakened; he can land a nice share with a ground-saving trip.

Race 8: 3-5YO F&M NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(4) SHIPNSTROL HANOVER had moderate Stakes success as a freshman including a second-place finish in the Matron; Nifty Norman trainee went well in her seasonal debut at Pocono and lands in a live spot here with Bartlett driving. (6) AMERICAN TICKET arrived from Mohawk and wired them in the slop in the Reynolds; obvious contender here. (2) SIOUX RAINBOW A is still a maiden but that was a nice qualifier here back on 5/6.

Race 9: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(4) VELOCITY MCSWEETS rode the live pocket to an upset win last out and with Holland driving again there's no reason to think she won't be rolling to the front tonight. (2) WOODMERE SKYROLLER was second best last week and the Lance Hudson trainee is looking at another potential good trip. (5) MORNING HAS BROKEN grinded to victory second start off the Bako claim and obviously she's capable again.

Race 10: 3-5YO NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(7) SAMSON BLUE CHIP has solid early speed so the outside post shouldn't be a problem for this 4YO gelding; he's right there every start and finally broke through into the win column last out. (2) THEBIZNES BLUECHIP qualifies for NW2 so he lands inside and the Gillis trainee can work out a live trip. (3) FLIP MY CHIP should be ready for his 3YO campaign off those two qualifiers.

Race 11: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) ARTMAGIC has effectively raced himself into shape and returns locally off an open-length win at Monti in 1:55 1/5. He should fit well here in this bottom-level event. (5) MACH IT SO is still chugging along inching towards $3 million lifetime. He gets Bartlett to drive tonight returning off a couple of rejuvenated efforts at Freehold but his last few local races were poor. (1) LORD OF MISRULE keeps Stratton driving for his brother and he's still shut out on the season but he faces softer from the best post.
