Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 4/4
?q=100)
2023 MEET STATS: 101 - 301 / $448.10 (-$153.90)
BEST BETS: 18 - 28 / $57.50 (+$1.50)
BEST BET: TAKE A GAMBLE (7th)
SPOT PLAY: ROCKAPELO (9th)
Race 1: 3-5YO NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace
(5) LUCKISONTHEWAY showed ability as a 2-year-old in Indiana and qualified effectively at Pocono for his new connections; he finds a good spot to do some damage in his sophomore debut if he's ready. (4) AMBITIOUSBEACHBOY had good speed at both ends last week at a big price and now lands an improved post. (3) BEST BETTOR never wins but often cashes a check; he can save ground for a share from this spot.
Race 2: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace
(4) TUGGINGONCREDIT has had some decent races since arriving from Canada and the mare drops in for a tag tonight; she looks like a good fit with these. (7) SHECANDANCE N has taken three straight at this level for powerful connections and she's got the early speed to overcome the outside draw. (2) LARJON LEAH has been right there in her last four and from this good post she's tough to leave off the ticket.
Race 3: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) CENTURY HANNIBAL was ready to roll in his first start for these connections after arriving from Canada but he was run over by a sharp, classy rival. Next start he went wire-to-wire at odds-on against a notch lesser and the Engblom trainee seems primed to take another. (1) ALEX TYE draws a rare inside post and should be looking at a live trip, probably in the pocket to the top choice. (4) MACH N CHEESE gets some class relief and looks best of the rest.
Race 4: NW20441 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) HEISMAN PLAYER raced okay from off the pace in his last two, finishing in :27 and change both times. Prior start he flashed some speed to work out the winning trip versus lesser. From this improved post Braxton can be away alertly in the hopes of working out the trip behind the favorite and perhaps get by late at a nice price. (1) DIAMONDBEACH was clearly overmatched in those two Borgata starts but this is more his level; Bucci trainee is the one to catch. (7) WALKINSHAW N is overdue for a win but needs to overcome the outside draw; veteran is capable, however.
Race 5: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace
(6) LONG WEEKEND A hasn't picked up a check for his current connections while racing with 50K claimers but he gets to take a serious drop in class tonight and the veteran should respond. (5) STATE SENATOR finished very well last week and he goes back to Bartlett tonight with Dexter Dunn not here; we haven't seen much early speed from this guy lately but leave it to Jason to find a way. (3) HE'S ELECTRIC drops down a notch and gets significant post relief; he may be overlooked in the wagering.
Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) SETH HANOVER needs to show more in the late stages but this is a good spot to be firing off the gate and maybe he can last to the line tonight. (5) AMERICANLIGHTNINGN has been just 'okay' recently but he too finds a better spot; connections must be respected. (3) FOREVER FAV is just 3 for 48 over the last two seasons but he's still a good earner; smooth trip can land him a piece at a big price.
Race 7: NW22271 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) TAKE A GAMBLE has won his last three local races by open lengths and the Bako trainee finds a very live spot to take another. (7) SHINE A LIGHT steps up off a win and moves outside but the Engblom trainee with Bartlett driving certainly deserves a long look, especially if he's taking money. (1) SAN DOMINO A returns to very familiar surroundings but he's lost a couple of MPH off his fastball; still he oozes class and would be no surprise.
Race 8: 3-5YO NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace
(3) LAYTON HANOVER begins his "aged" campaign and the now 4-year-old looked sharp in those two Pocono qualifiers. Alexander trainee fits this conditioned class nicely. (2) AUSSIE HANOVER graduates from NW4 to NW6 and the Cassar trainee can pick up a big piece with the inside draw. (1) SOUTHWIND BRONN recently added Lasix and has been racing well over at The Meadowlands; hard to say how he will transition over to the smaller track.

Race 9: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) ROCKAPELO has plenty of class and is still competitive with these upper-level types; drop in class and good draw should make him a live player once again. (1) SHADOW CAT always seems to race well when he's drawn inside. (6) TRENDY TEEN was a good second in his 4-year-old debut over at The Meadowlands; we'll see how he fares here facing seasoned foes again.
Race 10: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace
(1) LINE EM UP has been able to find the wire in her last two facing similar and with the rail draw the Bongiorno trainee looks primed to take another; don't take too small of a price, however. (5) NUTTINBUTTHEBEST figures to be forwardly placed again with Kakaley; she looks like the main threat to the top one. (2) ACEFORTYFOUR ALEX woke up last week with a better effort and she'll probably be saving ground close to the front tonight.
