Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 4/19

Matt Rose|Apr 18, 2022
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 102 - 318 / $514.10 (-$121.90)

BEST BETS: 19 - 29 / $66.90 (+$8.90)

Best Bet: MIGHTY SANTANA N (12th)

Spot Play: CARRACCI HANOVER (3rd)

Race 1: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(7) BIZYS BEATLE shipped from Ohio to join the Jenn Bongiorno barn and beat up on cheaper at odds-on. He gets Bartlett tonight while facing better and may have more to offer. (3) HUNDIE N had a rotten trip last week facing $40K claimers; this should be a better spot. (8) FOREVER FAV has been in decent form of late against much classier than most of these but the eight hole clearly makes things difficult, especially if the top one fires early.

Race 2: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(6) GINGER TREE PETE moves back to the Bako barn via reclaim and he went wire-to-wire in a start for these connections a couple of months back. (3) RAUKAPUKA RULER N finally showed some life last week and he drops to face softer; classy veteran deserves to be the favorite but I'm not sure I'm ready to hop on board at a short price just yet. (2) MOHAWK WARRIOR was a strong winner three back with Holland in the bike.

Race 3: $12,500 Claiming Pace

(8) CARRACCI HANOVER recaptured some of that old glory in his first start for new connections and the veteran would be no surprise if he overcame post eight to take another. (4) COACH CAL was a good second to the top choice last week; Bartlett should be able to get him to the early lead from this spot. (1) ZOEEZ BOY HENRY can usually be counted on for a share from inside posts.

Race 4: NW6 races or $76,650 lifetime Pace

(2) AMERICANLIGHTNINGN has done nothing wrong since arriving in the U.S. for Shane Tritton and can be excused for last week's second-place finish as the winner polished off a 1:50 1/5 mile. He faces some good ones in here but deserves top call. (3) PACE N PRIDE N is a fresh import for Peter Tritton and he qualified very willingly; he obviously deserves a long look. (7) UCANTTOUCHTHIS has been racing well with some tough competition over at The Meadowlands and he does have a 1:52 2/5 mark here as a three-year-old. Brennan needs to get him away in good order.

Race 5: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) BLOOD BROTHER showed major improvement last week at Pocono off the barn change to Spaccarelli and he has had plenty of local success over the years. (5) LATE MAIL N has been a bit disappointing of late but he woke up last start at Freehold; he was facing much better when we last saw him. (2) TRU LOU showed little in two starts across the river upon moving to the Burke barn but maybe he does better with the venue change.

Race 6: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(7) SPORTS SECTION graduated to this NW4 level for his last start and was a good second; Stratton picks up the drive tonight on this Bako trainee and he'll offer some value from the outside post. (3) BORN A REBEL didn't show anything in the MGM series but he's reeled off two front-end scores since then versus softer. He's probably the one to catch. (2) GOTAFOOLISHDESIRE draws well again and will be in a line for a good trip.

Race 7: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) PEACE OUT POSSE was a winner right off the bench for the Bongiorno barn when he came from last to win the Preferred at Freehold; the downside is that he's drawn outside his main competition but that will help his price. (1) TWIN B TUFFENUFF figures to try taking this field down the road. (2) DELIGHTFUL TERROR bumps up in class off a loss but that was a classy rival that beat him; Bartlett sticks with him.

Race 8: NW2 races or $25,000 lifetime Pace

(4) PARTY CENTRAL was second best to the runaway Born A Rebel at Freehold in just his second lifetime start and the Shane Tritton-trained non-import can build off that effort. (8) GIBOR was a solid second upon arrival and would be the clear choice if not for the post. (2) RIGHTTHERERIGHTNOW toured the track from the eight hole last week but was decent in his prior start, his first for these ownership connections after arriving from Northville Downs.

Race 9: $40,000 Claiming Pace

(1) SHERIFF N returns locally for Pete Tritton off a solid second-place finish at The Big M and he's had plenty of local success in the past; Stratton returns with the drive and is the one to beat. (2) MARINER SEELSTER is still shut out on the season but has banked almost $50K on the strength of seven runner-up finishes; 13-year-old will be sitting close to the action, maybe in the pocket. (5) ROGERTHAT BLUECHIP never got involved upon arrival; shows speed tonight?

Race 10: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(3) CHUPPAH ON took all the money last start and tried cutting the mile which didn't work out. She figures to be a much better price tonight and can grind these down. (2) SLY ELEANOR N has been very consistent with this type and she goes for two straight. (1) WOODMERE SKYROLLER scored from the pocket in the race where the top choice faltered and drawing inside again gives her another legit chance.

Race 11: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) ALL HANDS ON DECK offered a nice third-quarter bid into a couple of tough ones at the front last start and backed away late; prior to that the Jenn Bongiorno trainee had been holding his own so the drop in class will clearly help his cause. Bartlett catch drives. (3) CONBOYVILLE never got close in his last two facing better but the post relief gives Siegelman an opportunity to get aggressive. (7) BETTOR MEMORIES raced much better in his local return; post hurts.

Race 12: NW10650 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) MIGHTY SANTANA N was a 'jogburger' last start when dropped in class; Stratton trainee moves back up a notch but can repeat. (1) TALBOTCREEKWHISKEY has beaten better than these in the past and should be in line for a good trip. (6) ALEX TYE failed last week at the NW5000 level as the tough trip ultimately did him in; it wasn't too long ago that he was winning at the $100K claiming level.
