Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 4/12

Matt Rose|Apr 11, 2022
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 102 - 318 / $514.10 (-$121.90)

BEST BETS: 19 - 29 / $66.90 (+$8.90)

Best Bet: ALEX TYE (5th)

Spot Play: IDEAL LINER N (3rd)

Race 1: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(6) MIDNIGHT REBEL has been on the shelf since last December but he cruised by open lengths in a qualifier at Freehold and the Jenn Bongiorno trainee is likely ready to fire. (2) SPORTS SECTION earns a bump to this level coming off last week's game uncovered win. (8) SAMSON BLUE CHIP has been the most consistent of these but his path to the winner's circle may be blocked by speed to his inside; insist on a square price.

Race 2: NW6 races or $75,035 lifetime Pace

(2) HIGH BALLER put in nice showing in the MGM Gents series with a win and two close losses; he faces some talent in here but deserves the nod. (6) AMERICANLIGHTNINGN got nipped last start by a streaking rival, and that's now three big efforts since arriving in the U.S.; Shane Tritton trainee must be used. (1) HIGHLANDBEACHSBEST was too far back to threaten in his seasonal (and Gillis) debut; move all the way inside makes him a player.

Race 3: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) IDEAL LINER N looks like another good import for connections that have had plenty of success with these types over the years. He came up just a touch short in his U.S. debut at Freehold which served as a good tightener and though he meets some tough ones in here he deserves serious consideration. (5) SAVE ME A DANCE drops from the Borgata to this much softer class and overall he's been a bit of a disappointment; still a major player, and likely favorite. (2) DELIGHTFUL TERROR is up in class again going for three straight.

Race 4: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(1) MILLWOOD BONNIE N was a winner first start off the Chris Height claim then followed up a sick scratch with a hard-charging finish from last. Mare loses Kakaley but does draw best and could trip out. (8) FEELIN RED HOT goes back to Dowse off the reclaim and has the speed to clear from the eight hole but she's had trouble finishing recently. That was a filthy beat in her last start. (3) SLY ELEANOR N keeps Kakaley and does have a recent win versus these.

Race 5: NW5000 in last 5 starts

(7) ALEX TYE won three straight in $100K claimers a couple of months back and now finds himself at the basement conditioned level despite his form not dropping off that badly. It's hard to imagine him losing. (5) MISSION BAY has raced okay in two starts after shipping from Canada and he should offer value with the underrated Holland driving. (2) J B MAUNEY has some talent, but is he ever going to put it all together?

Race 6: NW2 races or $25,000 lifetime Pace

(2) GIBOR wasn't terrible in his career debut at The Meadowlands then followed that up with two nice efforts at Pocono; he picks up Bartlett here while drawing well in this tough-to-figure event. I'll give him a try. (4) THEBIZNES BLUECHIP makes his 3-year-old debut for good connections off a lively qualifier up at Monti. (1) BORN A REBEL broke his maiden last week at Pocono and was facing better here previously.

Race 7: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) SHADOW CAT returns locally off a win at Philly and he always gives a good accounting of himself at this level, especially from inside posts. (3) NOCTURNAL BLUECHIP failed to get involved last start from the outside but was game in defeat two back. (5) GENIUS MAN fired to the front and forgot to stop last start; can he repeat that?

Race 8: $12,500 Claiming Pace

(2) DEERFIELD BEACH ships in from The Meadowlands where he's had some live efforts recently and he picks up Holland, who tends to do well with longshots. At 20/1 on the morning line I'll use him. (3) LOTTERY WINNER is much the best on paper but he enters a new barn off the claim and it wasn't that long ago when he went through an erratic and ugly spell. I'll let him beat me at odds-on. (8) HERE COMES SWIFTY moves all the way from the rail to the eight hole; does Bartlett take a swing off the gate?

Race 9: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) PATRIOT NATION hasn't done much since being claimed by these connections for $75K but he drops in class and gets Bartlett back in the sulky. I can see him turning things around here. (5) STANFORD COURT took all the money as expected last week but failed, and now he faces a bit better. Still, he should be a player here. (1) MIKE'S Z TAM is clearly feeling much better for Lachance, with a recent win and a second.
