Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 3/29

Matt Rose|Mar 28, 2022
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 87 - 282 / $427.20 (-$136.80)

BEST BETS: 16 - 26 / $56.90 (+$4.90)

Best Bet: I'M BENECIO A (8th)

Spot Play: NOCTURNAL BLUECHIP (6th)

Race 1: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(8) HAPPY TRIO goes out first time for the Dowse barn off a recent $30K claim and Bartlett is signed on to drive; if he seems live in the wagering then one could assume he'll be aggressively handled in an attempt to overcome the poor post. (4) MIKE'S Z TAM was better last start with his second-place finish; Lachance trainee should be a player here. (1) ROCKIN M returns locally to face softer and the Bongiorno trainee is likely the one to catch.

Race 2: MGM Rewards Gents Consolation Pace

(2) SAMSON BLUE CHIP fired from the seven hole last week and proved stubborn before tiring; he moves all the way inside and historically Bartlett driving for Blackler has been a good angle. (4) DANCE IT OUT hasn't done a whole lot in the series but raced well prior in a couple of NW6 events with Joe B driving. (3) PHOENIX OF FLUZZY was a solid winner in round one but the Burke trainee has regressed a bit; he seems capable of turning things around.

Race 3: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) NO LOU ZING is back from the Meadowlands where he's been fairly consistent of late in what's probably a comparable class that he meets here; Takter trainee has always had the talent and he deserves a long look here. (3) ALWAYS AND AGAIN was a very well-meant winner last week and he figures to be sent to the front again. (7) WALKINSHAW N paced a big back half last start facing $100K claimers and should appreciate the class relief but the outside post will make things difficult.

Race 4: NW2 races or $25,000 lifetime Pace

(5) SELECT FRIDAY picked up minor awards in two starts in the MGM Rewards series and now the Bako trainee faces a soft field of NW2 pacers; top billing. (6) GREG THE LEG was a winner at Pocono in his 3-year-old debut for Schnittker and Mark MacDonald drives again. Though scratched, he did enough as a freshman to make the NYSS final. (2) DINNER PARTY made his career debut facing NW4 types and wasn't awful; Shane Tritton trainee figures to show a bit more in his second start.

Race 5: MGM Rewards Gents Final Pace

(4) MAKIN SOME NOISE failed to hit the board last week for the first time in his career after being unable to sustain a two-move effort. Lightly-raced gelding should still be given serious consideration in this competitive event that will likely come down to the best trip. (3) PERFECTBOY HANOVER finished second in all three legs of the series, missing by two noses and a neck. He projects to be right there again with Yannick picking up the drive. (1) SARANAC BLUE CHIP draws best going for a series sweep; Stratton's choice.

Race 6: NW20775 in last 5 starts Pace

(7) NOCTURNAL BLUECHIP has been solid in his last two local starts and Bartlett sticks with him over another logical contender; price should be decent from this post. (3) HUDSON PHIL picks up Bongiorno with Bartlett taking the top one and he was second best to the well-rated winner in his local return. (1) NVESTMENT BLUECHIP had pace from the three hole at a price last week and he draws the rail again.

Race 7: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(3) SAUVIGNON BLUECHIP was much-improved last week with Brennan back driving and he can be forwardly placed again. (4) NORTHERN NETWORK looked very good beating a NW5000 field last out and the Laterza trainee can carry that form here as he moves back to the NW4 level. (1) OHARE HANOVER has been decent in all recent starts for Michael Whelan and he can save ground here and finish with late pace.

Race 8: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) I'M BENECIO A is up in class again looking to take his third straight for the Garcia-Herrera barn, which is finally firing on midseason form. (3) HESPOISEDTOPOUNCE A offered a hard challenge last week but could not clear the leader and had to settle for third; import was a good second the start prior and he can offer some value here. (1) CAPTIVATE HANOVER hasn't come back that strong this year but he picks up Bartlett while drawing best.

Race 9: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(5) FEELING RED HOT was reclaimed by Jenn Bongiorno last week and the classy mare jogged in two starts for this barn to begin her season. (6) CHUPPAH ON drew away late at a nice price in last and Stratton drives again for the Camilleri barn; she'll be coming late but it's just a question if she can reach in time. (1) BALFAST N broke in her debut for the Burke barn but she does move back inside and figures to be sitting the pocket to the speedy top choice.

Race 10: NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace

(2) MYSWEETBOYMAX returned locally last week and powered off to an impressive 1:51 3/5 score; a repeat of that effort can win this despite Bartlett opting off. (5) AMERICANLIGHTNINGN had his backers a nervous wreck as he was last throughout at 1/5 but he stacked wide and swept the field to make it back-to-back strong wins for this recent import. I guess we don't know how good he really is yet. (4) BONDI SHAKE N is also a very talented import for owner/trainer/driver Austin Siegelman who can't be ignored. (6) BETTORROCK finds a tough spot to make his 4-year-old debut.

Race 11: $12,500 Claiming Pace

(4) ROUGH ODDS is a bit shaky as an odds-on pick but he probably should wire these. (1) HERE COMES SWIFTY returns from Monticello coming off a win at their $10K claiming level and he draws best here looking to trip out. (6) PEPPER GUY was claimed 11 days ago for $20K by the Devita barn and he's immediately dropped in for $12,500; what gives?

Race 12: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(6) IAMMRBRIGHTSIDE N is nowhere what he used to be but the 12-year-old does return at the basement level off a nice win at Freehold and the Jenn Bongiorno trainee figures to try heading to the front. (1) SPOILERONTHEBEACH has a win here a couple of months back in NW20000 and now he returns from New Jersey at this level and draws inside with Bartlett. Hard not to consider him. (3) OURRHYTHMNBLUES N ships from Pompano and joins the Erv Miller barn, which has been good here all season.
