Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 3/21

Matt Rose|Mar 20, 2023
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2023 MEET STATS: 66 - 194 / $300.00 (-$88.00)

BEST BETS: 11 - 18 / $34.00 (-$2.00)

Best Bet: TAKE A GAMBLE (4th)

Spot Play: HYPNOTICDREAM (10th)

Race 1: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(2) SEZANA N has almost matched her 2022 totals in less than one-third of the starts and she's got a win and a second in her last two tries at this level; mare has a legit chance again from this inside post. (4) LINE EM UP has been as consistent as they come in her last four, with two narrow victories; obvious player. (6) CHUPPAH ON returned to close-up tactics last week and just missed. Let's see if Stratton tries that again, or just lingers at the rear.

Race 2: NW10711 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) KINGSVILLE turned things around in a hurry in his last two and is definitely sharp enough to grab that third straight facing a bit better. (2) DEETZY hasn't won in some time but he will be close to the front throughout from this inside post. (1) SHINE A LIGHT hails from sizzling connections but was unable to follow up that big win at the Big M two back and he broke the last time at Yonkers.

Race 3: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(3) MAGICAL MISTRESS closed with some belated pace in her 2023 debut and she figures to be much more involved with that needed race under her belt. Garcia-Herrera trainee appears well-spotted at this claiming level. (5) PAIGE’S GIRL hasn't won in a while but is a consistent check-earner and should just be a smooth trip away from being right there at the wire. (1) HEY HEY DBAY looks to improve on her last two third-place efforts but regardless should come away with a nice piece.

Race 4: NW20381 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) TAKE A GAMBLE has been saddled with tough outside posts in all recent up at Saratoga but he still raced very well despite the outside handicaps. Bako trainee lands the rail in his local return which will make him tough to catch. (3) BLANK STARE gets Bartlett in the bike tonight and an improved post; Cullipher trainee appears to be the main threat to the top one. (4) FEELIN WESTERN hasn't been at his best recently but he goes back to the Cory Stratton barn tonight and gets Jordan in the bike; definitely eligible for improvement.

Race 5: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) LOORRIM LAKE A took some money from the eight hole last week but had a disastrous start and was well out of it. Harris import is right back in to go and Bartlett drives again down a bit in class with a better post; we'll see what he's got. (1) B LIKE CRUISER's only recent win was at the NW5000 level but he's otherwise been live; chance for a good trip here. (3) LOUIE THE HORSE N was a bit flat last week at the Meadowlands in his first start since last November; he's eligible for improvement.

Race 6: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) LOU'S SWEETREVENGE has been competitive with significantly better lately and should really appreciate the class relief. He may be a bit trip-dependent but I’m hoping Braxton Boyd can generate some early speed with the veteran. (1) BOILING OAR hasn't been far back in any race this season and can be in a prime stalking spot here. (4) WALKINSHAW N is always capable but has burned some money recently; his last win was with Kakaley in the bike.

Race 7: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

Another division of this popular claiming level here…(2) SHECANDANCE N has four wins at this level already this year and the Engblom trainee will be odds-on here to take another. I'm not sure anyone can step up to beat her tonight. (3) LARJON LEAH is the most logical upsetter as she's been a good second in her last three. (7) CORAL BELLA has taken two straight with fine front-end rating by Holland; move outside makes things much more difficult but I can see her trying to leave for position and if successful she can pick up a nice share.

Race 8: NW24671 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) ROCKAPELO tired badly in that recent qualifier but that was with the owner in the bike so I'm willing to overlook that; veteran has a ton of class and returns to find a pretty soft field here. (4) LEVINE had solid speed at both ends in that recent win; sharp sort could be a player again. (3) BARBADOS hasn't really fired in three starts since being claimed by DiDomenico; he shifts out of claimers and may have found a better spot.

Race 9: 3-5YO NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace

(6) GREG THE LEG breezed from the pocket last week and gets another crack at this level; if he makes the front without too much trouble he'll be tough to catch. (4) BOUNTY HUNTER was a winner here last December and had come back from vacation looking good over at Pocono; Cleary trainee looks like a perfect fit here. (3) HEART OF DIXIE could not reach last start when bet down to the 6/5 favorite; price goes up tonight if staying on board.

Race 10: NW6261 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) HYPNOTICDREAM woke up last start when he dropped in class and added Bartlett; leading driver stays on and he won't need to show that much improvement in order to beat these. (3) ONE OFF DELIGHT A rallied well in his last couple to hit the board; logical contender. (2) CAPTAINS PLACE has also hit the ticket in his last two at this base level; he hasn't shown much early speed but should still be fairly close to the pace starting from the two hole.

Race 11: 3-5YO NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(6) AUSSIE HANOVER raced big out of the eight hole in his local return and showing the same type of speed tonight could make him difficult to catch. (7) AMERICAN FRONTIER folded on the front end last out after a two-move try as the chalk; prior efforts from slightly off the pace were good. (1) COALFORD BYTHESEA fits the NW2 class so he gets to draw inside and he should be prominent throughout.
