2023 MEET STATS: 66 - 194 / $300.00 (-$88.00) BEST BETS: 11 - 18 / $34.00 (-$2.00) Best Bet: MOONLIGHT SHADOW (5th) Spot Play: LOU’S BEACH (3rd) Race 1: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace (3) CHUPPAH ON finally gets needed post relief and I have to believe she'll be geared up for a big effort tonight. (4) LAURIE LEE hasn't made much of an impact in her last few starts at this level but they were all from outside; like the top choice she finds a much more reasonable spot here and won't have as far to come. (2) CORAL BELLA got away with a :59 1/5 half last start and was able to hold safely from there; with her speed and good post she's capable of repeating, but will likely have to work harder to get it done. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace (2) SAYING GRACE N has been a bit overmatched on paper in his last few judging by his off odds but he hasn't been that far back in any of those tries; veteran drops in class and was a winner when last at this level. (4) DEETZY was never a player last week but figures to be much more involved tonight. (3) SOHO CHELSEA A was okay last start at the $30K claiming level and he's another veteran who should appreciate the class reprieve. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: 3-5YO NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace (6) LOU'S BEACH understandably tired after last week's tough trip and the Burke trainee lands outside again. The good news is that Gingras is back aboard, and he's won the last three times he drove this gelding. (1) GREG THE LEG was collared after setting a pressed pace but he gets another crack from the rail, this time as the likely favorite. (3) HEART OF DIXIE bounced back from a sub-par effort to mow these down last week; obvious candidate to repeat. Race 4: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace Competitive race here, as these mare claimers usually are. (2) NUTTINBUTHEBEST rebounded from a sick scratch and some missed time to just get beat after a good try last week; Brennan gets the drive tonight with an opportunity to build off that encouraging effort. (3) LARJON LEAH fired from the eight hole and almost got there from the pocket last start; Bucci trainee clearly has a legit chance here. (1) LINE EM UP has also been a consistent presence recently and starting from the rail Joe B has an opportunity to roll off the gate and take command. Race 5: NW21621 in last 5 starts Pace (1) MOONLIGHT SHADOW has been a quality horse here for the better part of a year and he's already hit the board in five of six this season. He debuts for the Engblom barn off the $50K claim and lands in a spot where Yannick can take control early. (3) MARLBANK ROAD ran an almost identical race in his last two and both times he was collared late after a solid speed try. He figures to be a major player again tonight. (7) BLANK STARE gets class relief and actually beat better last month but departing from the outside will make things tough; Buter gets the drive with Holland opting for #3. Race 6: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace (5) LUCIANO N gets Gingras in the bike tonight and still has good speed while facing a rather dull bunch; classy veteran is overdue. (1) KERFORD ROAD A had been facing better for the most part and he moves all the way inside; final-quarter speed has been consistent despite not reaching the wire and he can certainly trip out here. (4) REAGAN BLUE CHIP has the leading driver in the bike again but otherwise there isn't much to endorse here. Race 7: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace (7) SHECANDANCE N is 6/5 on the morning line from the seven hole looking to repeat after last week's win at 30 cents on the dollar. There doesn't appear to be much speed inside of her so Bartlett should be able to fire to the front and rate the action. (2) HEY HEY DBAY has raced very well in her last five and draws well. Corelli's mare should land a nice piece. (1) ACEFORTYFOUR ALEX seems to have tailed off but she figures to be stalking the speed and can hold off the rest. Race 8: NW23501 in last 5 starts Pace (4) SPEED MAN N took care of business last week as my best bet and he is more than capable of repeating on the engine. (3) BOILING OAR has been right there in all starts since shipping up from Dover for the Cullipher barn but Bartlett opts off for the Engblom horse; Yannick gets the call. (2) STONEBRIDGE REX gave a nice accounting of himself in his local debut but now he steps up to face tougher looking to repeat. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: 3-5YO NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace (1) TWO FACED has shown both speed and versatility in five starts since arriving from Canada and Stratton can trip out from this spot. (3) RB sat a nice trip last week and was second best; he may be looking at another pocket ride. (6) OAKWOOD VEGAS IR failed at 1/5 odds last out and now faces a bit tougher from an outside. The price goes way, way up, however. Race 10: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace (6) THE DOWNTOWN BUS drops to the basement conditioned level and if Bongiorno can generate some early speed from this veteran and land near the front he's got a big shot, and the price should be decent as well. (3) SPLASH BROTHER was looking good last week on the lead until midway on the final turn where he completely ran out of gas; he too faces softer and it's hard to imagine him not being right there with this type. (2) CAPTAINS PLACE was a game second last out after an uncovered trip.
