Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 2/4

Matt Rose|Feb 03, 2025
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2025 MEET STATS: 23 - 63 / $192.60 (+$66.60) - holding serve...

BEST BETS: 4 - 6 / $12.50 (+$0.50)

BEST BET: ROCK THE BELLES (7th)

SPOT PLAY: UNITY (11th)

Race 1: POP-UP F&M $35,000 Claiming Pace Leg 2

(4) TOBAGO TIME had no issues with the time off last week as she rolled by from the pocket for her fourth straight; was claimed by hot connections and figures to continue winning ways. (5) NIKASA N also goes for another new barn looking for the hat trick but she may be at a tactical disadvantage so I'll leave her underneath. (1) PINK RUBY has been good in all recent starts for the Stratton barn when drawn well; last week's line can safely be tossed.

Race 2: POP- F&M $35,000 Claiming Pace Leg 2

(6) ROCKNROLL UP ANNIE took a ton of money from the outside in her debut for these connections but made a break leaving. Price figures to go WAY up tonight so she's worth following up on value alone. (1) RACEY RACH N just missed first out for Laterza and from the rail she should be no worse than the pocket again. (3) CELCIUS figures to lay closer to the action tonight and be looking at a smoother trip than she did in leg 1 of this series.

Race 3: 3-6YO Winners 2-4 races or $60,000 lifetime Pace

(3) RHYDS SUPERFLY GB dominated in his Yonkers debut and the recent import gets to face pretty much the same here; tough to look past him at a short price. (5) ICACO HANOVER was second to the top one last week and this guy is in contention practically every start. (2) LEGAL ATTACK had little to offer last start but his prior races from inside posts were good.

Race 4: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) OPTICAL ILLUSION N has hit the board in two starts since joining the Alexander barn and those races were from less than favorable posts. Tonight he moves inside to a much cozier spot and that tactical edge can get him over the top. (5) LOU'S SWEETREVENGE got it done last week as he begins making his way back up the conditioned ladder; veteran is classiest of the main contenders. (3) ODDS ON CAPITALISM was a non-factor last start but second best the race prior and he moves back to the inside half of the gate.

Race 5: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) JUST ENUFF STUFF finished well for second at a big price in his first start in over a month and the bump in class shouldn't be a major problem for this $120K earner in 2024. (4) OUTLAW MAN N has Bartlett driving again for Blackler after a good try in his local return and he moves in a few slots. (6) TUFFENUFTOWEARPINK earned a long-awaited win last week and Holland figures to be firing off the gate again.

Race 6: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(5) PINE BUSH MAGA has been very live up at Monticello so maybe she can carry that good form back down to Yonkers where she meets a questionable group; driver upgrade here to Kakaley. (2) MIKI THE CLOWN is logical given the nose loss last week in the same class, and she gets post improvement. (8) FORTUNADA gave it a shot in the Popup series last week after being claimed but she was stuck in the eight hole and never got involved. Dilloian, Jr trainee drops back to the level of her win two back but lands the worst post again.

Race 7: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) ROCK THE BELLES put in a big effort to make it close at over 99/1 in his debut for the Daguet barn and I think he's clearly ready to take the next step forward and get the job done. (3) GALANTE A looks like he's returned with a couple of improved efforts after taking a couple of months off and he gets Bartlett tonight facing a bit softer than he's accustomed to. (2) MY ULTIMATE STAR A has done nothing worth mentioning over the last few months but this is the best post he's seen in ages and Brennan should have him much closer to the action.

Race 8: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(6) IDEALINFUN is a proven winner at this level and facing a couple a couple of sharp ones inside of her will help the price. Bartlett is back driving and they won for fun back in December. (2) CHIPANCAS has a win and a second in three starts since arriving locally to join the Engblom barn. 4YO is in for a tag and figures to fit well here. (1) PEMBROKE SOUTHIE closed crisply last out and won her prior two at The Meadowlands; Bongiorno trainee has Kakaley driving again.

Race 9: NW11988 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) MISSED THE TRUTH A was going nowhere last week from the outside post but had raced very well in his prior Yonkers starts for Cushing and draws similarly to her race two back where he just missed. Could be overlooked in the wagering facing this competitive field. (6) KOPI LUWAK has been very good in three local starts after arriving from Mohawk Park; live connections in play here. (4) CADILLAC BAYAMA drops in class after an excusable effort last start and the Lachance trainee should be a player at some point.

Race 10: NW20801 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) BACKSTREET SHADOW rebounded last week with a much-improved effort and this 10YO classmaster is clearly knocking on the door here. Reasonable trip can take this. (2) HAZEVILLE was collared late after battling on the front in his 2024 debut, and after being off five weeks. Logic would dictate he'll be tighter here. (6) TASTE OF HONEY is in a tough spot but he's been good and can rally for a piece here.

Race 11: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(1) UNITY hasn't tasted victory in almost six months but she was a nine-time winner here in 2024. Mare lands the rail making her second start after the holiday break and faces a fairly soft field. (3) GINGER TREE LIZ raced well last week to be third and she can build off that effort. (2) CANNERY ROW returns to Yonkers off a confidence-boosting win at Monti and the Gillis trainee has to be respected from this spot despite her 0 for 24 local record over the last two years.
