Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 2/1

Matt Rose|Jan 31, 2022
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 13 - 54 / $68.10 (-$39.90)

BEST BETS: 3 - 5 / $9.60 (-$0.40)

Best Bet: TIGER BARON (6th)

Spot Play: SHANWAY N (1st)

Race 1: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) SHANWAY N closed in very willingly last week when dropped to this level and the move all the way inside gives Bartlett the option to control the action. (3) BRACKLEY BEACH has been right there in all recent efforts; obvious contender. (2) DEAN B HANOVER is another who has been very consistent since arriving locally for the combo of Stratton and Gillis.

Race 2: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) PEPPER GUY could not gain in last week's quick mile but he was an open-lengths winner two back versus lesser with Bartlett in the bike; he's back driving and lands inside versus a pretty soft field. (2) TOM ME GUN N should be sitting close up and can land a big piece. (7) THE WILD CARD fits nicely with this type and if Zeron is able to improve position at the outset then he can be a part of this.

Race 3: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) KNOCKING AROUND didn't fire last week as a shipper who took all the money jogged on the front end. Veteran Koch trainee should be better than that showing. (4) DENALI SEELSTER was bet down to the favorite in his second start after shipping from the Maritimes despite facing a couple of good rivals and he broke before starting up his rally; I suppose he deserves another chance. (5) LEAR SEELSTER didn't offer up much in his two seasonal starts at The Meadowlands but maybe the change in scenery can help his cause; young McGwire Sowers is listed to drive.

Race 4: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) MARTY MONKHOUSER A was better last week but still could have offered a bit more; he's back in on consecutive weeks again and he has a tactical edge on his main rivals. (4) SPRINGSTEEN is the most talented in here but also very inconsistent, which makes him tough to take at a short price. (6) ALOTBETTOR N plunges in class and does have early speed which makes him dangerous.

Race 5: NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace

(5) SETH HANOVER broke on the lead as the choice last week but the Burke trainee deserves another chance, at what will likely be a better price. (3) COALITION HANOVER was compromised coming out of the same race so don't hold that against him. Previous qualifier showed he was ready for action. (4) PROLINE is a Canadian shipper for Lachance and these types have had plenty of local success in the past.

Race 6: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) TIGER BARON dropped to this low-conditioned level last week and was a good second to a classy rival; it's been a long time since he's visited the winner's circle but this looks like the winning spot. (1) SHINY BLACK BEAMER responded well when dropped to this class and he looks like the main threat. (2) TULLOW N got bet strong in his local return but didn't fire; he should be in line for a much smoother trip tonight.

Race 7: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(1) GETYOURLICENSELIAM got hung the mile upon arrival but now the Devita trainee moves all the way inside; he gives up a bit of a class edge to others here but should have a tactical edge from the rail. (7) IMOUTTHEDOOR saw his win streak snapped last start when he was nipped at 20 cents on the dollar; he's still probably the one to beat again despite the poor post. (6) REMEMBER THE BEACH is an interesting shipper joining the Todd Buter barn and he seems fast enough to compete here despite facing an uncertain trip.

Race 8: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) OUR CORELLI N was claimed by Jenn Bongiorno for $50K but he fit NW7500 so he dropped and popped easily; he steps up a notch but should be able to repeat. (1) THE DOWNTOWN BUS was held at bay by the top one last week; he draws the rail again and could be looking at the same scenario. (2) EAST BEACH was a good second to a classy rival in his local return.

Race 9: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

This class sees many of the same faces week after week so it usually comes down to post and trip for these evenly-matched rivals. (2) POPPY DRAYTON N was a game uncovered winner last start and she lands another good post; don't expect 7/1 this week but she can repeat. (4) COWGIRL LILLY has been right there in all recent races and is a major player again. (5) MILLWOOD BONNIE N is another consistent earner who should land another nice piece.

Race 10: NW8 races or $100,000 lifetime Pace

In another evenly-matched affair that will likely come down to trip, (2) PERFECTBOY HANOVER rebounded from a tiring effort two back to just miss last week at a huge price; Gillis trainee gets significant post relief and should offer value again. (6) SEE YA WRITE N took three U.S. starts to find the winner's circle; Kakaley is back driving again and we'll get some more clues as to this import's real talent tonight. (4) CAPTAIN FANCY has hit the board in his last three; Bartlett drives again.

Race 11: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) PAT STANLEY N wasn't a serious player in his 2022 debut at The Meadowlands but he ended up beaten by less than two lengths in what was likely a needed start; recent addition to the Cory Stratton barn was facing better when last seen here. (2) ST LADS BEAT IT blew away cheaper upon arrival; can he repeat? (1) TURBO HILL ships in for Virgil Morgan Jr and should fit well with these class-wise.

Race 12: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) RED RIGHT HAND has been a killer since arriving locally for Nancy Takter and the 4-year-old looks to be odds-on again in quest of his fifth straight. (4) SOMEBADDUDE returned locally for Bongiorno and was a good second. (3) ROCK CANDY has been okay recently and now moves in a few spots.
