2023 MEET STATS: 26 - 60 / $122.50 (+$2.50) BEST BETS: 5 - 6 / $14.40 (+$2.40) Best Bet: PRETTY HANDSOME (8th) Spot Play: CHANGE STRIDE N (1st) Race 1: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace (1) CHANGE STRIDE N has been tiring late in his miles recently as he's been dropping down the class ladder; veteran moves to a new barn that has had some success recently (Berkeley) and maybe that plus the rail draw helps him out. (4) KERFORD ROAD A likely needed last week's start and now he drops plus lands an improved post. (2) CRUNCH HANOVER has little current form but he's another who drops in class and gets post relief. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace (5) BETTER WATCH IT was competitive in this class towards the end of 2022 and she figures to be tighter tonight coming off last week's needed start; Garcia-Herrera trainee recently added Lasix and figures to go a live mile here. (4) SARA JANE was much the best in her last start, but that was over five weeks ago, so she has a license to come up a bit short after cutting the mile. (1) ALWAYS B MIMI was away third from the rail last out and didn't make an impact; gets another crack from the inside. Race 3: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace (2) EXOTIC SAND passed a few from trailing position in his recent local return and he's got a solid 1:52 4/5 career mark set here last year; Buter can hopefully have him in striking range to run down likely pacesetter (1) ROCKATHON. The latter failed at odds-on against a bit better last start but he does seem to hold a class edge here. (5) NOTA REPLICA A finished a decent third last out from a similar spot. Race 4: 2-5YO NW2 races or $25,000 lifetime Pace (4) OAKWOOD VEGAS IR took the money from post eight last week in his U.S. debut and was sent to the front by Gingras but came up a little short late. Logic would dictate that the Burke trainee will be much better tonight after that acclimating mile. (3) RED RIVER SAL raced well at a big price coming out of the same race as the top choice and he may be overlooked in the wagering again. (6) TWO FACED is an interesting shipper for the Andrew Harris barn and he's looked pretty good in three lifetime starts up at Mohawk, but Bartlett opted for #2, another shipper who goes first out for a new trainer. Race 5: 3-6YO NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace (1) IMA HAPPY FELLA GB drew off easily at odds-on in his local debut, and just fourth start since arriving in the U.S. He faces much of the same here and should win again at miniscule odds. (2) COMET CRUSADER N also won here at first asking, and obviously the import could have more to offer. (4) RB is a consistent sort who likes who hit the board. He's 27 for 28 lifetime in the money. Race 6: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) GINGRAS BEACH drops to the basement conditioned level in search of a long-awaited win after finishing a decent third in his last two starts. (5) NOWHERE CREEK A also drops to face softer and I wouldn't be surprised if Siegelman was aggressive early with the veteran. (3) RANDOM NUMBER picked up a small share upon arrival from Delaware, could do the same here. Race 7: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace (3) MANKAT is not the classiest or most prolific winner in here but he was going well in the late stages last week and he lands another decent post; Stratton drives again. (4) ROCK CANDY drops again and gets away from the eight hole; expect Yannick to have him in play. (1) REIGNING DEO had little to offer in his local return and he figures to take plenty of money again; I don't think he's worth the short price. Race 8: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) PRETTY HANDSOME found it difficult to get involved from the outside post in his seasonal debut, but now he moves all the way inside for the Bako barn, which has been sizzling so far in 2023. (5) SOHO LENNON A takes needed drop in class and was a winner when last at this level; ageless wonder and pride of the Dilloian stable lands in a better spot to flash some of that early speed. (2) SETH HANOVER was a little disappointing last start but he draws well again and should be close to the front. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace (1) ACEFOURTYFOUR ALEX was floundering for most of last season at the lower conditioned levels then suddenly turned it around and now she's a legit player with these. She's always close up when drawn inside and she has a significant post edge on her main rivals. (7) DRAGONS LUCKY LADY and (6) LINE EM UP have both been solid at this level but they both need sharp getaways to be competitive and that may not happen. Race 10: $15,000 Claiming Pace (3) JAFFA JOSH N brushed to command and gamely held off pressure last week and he pretty much faces the same caliber of horses tonight; gelding likes to win and he has a solid chance to repeat. (1) BARRYWHITE HANOVER put in a good effort in his local return but was held off by a classy rival who already came back to win again; he's the main threat to the top one. (2) TOATSMYGOATS has a troubled trip last week at Monti and overall he hasn't been that great but the 11-year-old has a good history here and the Blumenfeld barn has been competitive this season.
