Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 1/26

2021 MEET STATS: 20 - 50 / $97.30 (-$2.70)
BEST BETS: 2 - 5 / $6.60 (-$3.40)
Best Bet: CIGAR SMOKING TONY (3rd)
Spot Play: SHAKE A LEG (2nd)
Race 1: $12,500 Claiming Pace
(3) PURE ROCK went a hot clip on the front end and folded shop pretty badly last out at The Meadowlands but that could have tightened him some in preparation for his Yonkers debut. The Stafford barn has been firing on all cylinders recently. (4) CONTROL TOWER drops to the basement claiming level and it's not like he's been awful recently facing better; clearly the one to beat. (5) HIGHVIEW CONALL N has been close in all recent efforts and does seem way overdue for a win.

Race 2: NW5000 in last 5 starts Trot
(3) SHAKE A LEG has been the pick the last couple of weeks and he was a good second last week; sticking with him. (2) NAVARONE HANOVER just missed from a similar spot in her 2019 finale and likely needed last week's start (despite breaking). (5) CREDIT FRAUD doesn't win often but seems like a good one to use underneath.

Race 3: NW2 races or $26,850 lifetime Pace
(2) CIGAR SMOKING TONY went down the road last week but was collared late by a sharp rival who had taken all the money. Godinez trainee should get back on the winning track tonight. (1) ISSA HORSE was third best coming out of that same race and will look to complete a chalky exacta. (5) GENERAL WARD gets Brennan back in the bike and he looks best of the rest.
Race 4: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) TOM ME GUN N has been an underachiever since arriving in the U.S. but he should be able to get the job done at this reduced level. (4) MILLIONDOLLAR WAVE was claimed out of his last race; big angle. (1) GAMBLINGTERROR did go fast enough in his last at Freehold and from the inside post that should make him competitive here.
Race 5: NW8 races or $100,000 lifetime Pace
(5) CENTURY FURY blew away a bit lesser two back then failed to get involved last week, though he paced home in :27 4/5 to pick off a few. From an improved post perhaps the Jenn Bongiorno trainee can reach, at a decent price in this competitive affair. (7) TRU LOU was a solid winner versus most of these last start and he's got a big chance to repeat despite the outside post. (4) TITO ROCKS charged home in his 2021 debut and he should be even tighter tonight back on consecutive weeks.
Race 6: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace
(6) WAR DAN DELIGHT N drops for the third consecutive week and he has had some decent efforts versus better recently; assuming he finds a way into the race he should be right there at the wire. (4) LORD WILLOUGHBY A is another getting some class relief who may perk up. (1) KEPT UNDER WRAPS A sat the pocket, angled clear and just missed last out; similar trip projected tonight.
Race 7: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace
(1) ODDS ON BREXIT was a sharp pocket-sitting winner at this level last out and he still fits this NW4 class; Melanie Wrenn trainee draws best and is one of the main contenders again. (5) IM A GIGOLO N is a recent Down-Under import for Burke who seems to have done everything right so far. (4) ROCKIN MEDICINE fired to the front last week, felt late pressure and wilted. Erv Miller trainee should be a speed threat again.

Race 8: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace
(1) DENVER SEELSTER had it all his own way on the front end last out facing NW5000 types but failed to seal the deal; Stratton trainee bumps up a notch but faces no standouts and he deserves another chance. (4) CAVIART SKYLER also is up in class after blowing the doors off a weak field last out. (6) TAP TAP TAP was inhaled by a couple of better rivals in his seasonal debut, and that was after missing almost a month; gelding could be a bit tighter tonight.
Race 9: NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace
(1) GENIUS MAN was a bit short on the front end last week after missing over a month; logic would dictate that the Bucci trainee will be sharper tonight and he can take these the distance. (4) MCMIKE was very disappointing in his local debut then was scratched after being late for Lasix when shifting to this NW6 level. The jury is still out on this Burke trainee. (3) REIGNING DEO has closed very sharply in his last four, over three different surfaces. Pelling trainee is tough not to include.
Race 10: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) VIRGIN STORM closed very nicely last week to narrow the gap on the winner; Bongiorno sticks with the Travis Alexander trainee who should be rallying in the late stages again. (2) KEYSTONE PHOENIX hung from the pocket in his last two; he still remains the one to beat but doesn't seem reliable enough to accept a short price. (7) PERFECTLY CLOSE gets some class relief but is stuck outside again; Bartlett stays aboard and maybe he can sneak into the number at a healthy price.
