Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 11/23

Matt Rose|Nov 22, 2021
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 373 - 1113 / $1,991.60 (-$234.40)

BEST BETS: 52 - 104 / $161.40 (-$46.60)

Best Bet: WHOS BETTER (12th)

Spot Play: MILITARY MASTER A (1st)

Race 1: $12,500 Claiming Pace

(7) MILITARY MASTER A made his debut for the Bako barn off the claim, got away poorly but it didn't matter as he exploded past to win by open lengths. He stays at the same level and is sharp enough to take another. (1) FAST ON THE DRAW has taken three straight at this $12.5K level and is the obvious one to catch. (2) RUTHLESS DUDE returns locally off a much-improved effort at The Big M after changing hands. The now Estrada-trained gelding should have a say here.

Race 2: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(3) PERFECTBOY HANOVER has gotten progressively better in three starts after moving to the Gillis barn and was second best to a sharp winner last week. He should be in line for a good trip here. (8) RHODENA ROAD has been super in three local starts, drawing away in each win, but he hasn't shown a ton of early speed, which he'll need to generate tonight for his best chance. (4) BRAZEN BRAZILIAN is 0 for 33 and counting this year but he often lands a share when drawn reasonably.

Race 3: NW2 races or $25,000 lifetime Pace

(1) SETH HANOVER went a huge effort in his first start for Burke and missed a nose after the long trip; gelding deserves to be the odds-on favorite tonight. (7) MIDNIGHT REBEL also raced well in his local debut but just couldn't last; Bongiorno trainee looks next best despite the poor post. (4) MARC IN THE BOX didn't really fire in last coming out of the same race as the top choice but perhaps the recent Iowa shipper can show a bit more and land a small share.

Race 4: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) WALTER MITTY was in over his head facing $50K claimers last out from the eight hole; plunge in class and move to a better post makes him a key contender in here. (1) SOMEBEACH BARON was also in a tough spot in debut for new connections; he to drops from claimers into this much softer spot. (5) ROLLING WITH SAM completes the 'trifecta' of class droppers and must be respected.

Race 5: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(4) CONTROL ME ONCE was beyond dismal in his local debut after shipping from Canada but he came back with a winning qualifier and I'll pretend that start on 11/2 never happened. (6) SCHWARTZ BROS PAT arrived from Hoosier with a decent resume facing conditioned claimers and he raced steadily in his local debut; gelding should go well here. (3) BALI BEACH wired NW2's last week in his debut for the Cory Stratton barn; could he have more to offer?

Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) CODY HANOVER was second best last week to the strong winner and overall he's hit the board in every start since moving to the Jenn Bongiorno barn. I suspect he'll be heading to the front. (1) LEVINE was no real match coming out of the same race as the top one as he finished fourth; Zeron/Scran gelding has had some nice moments here. (4) NOCTURNAL BLUECHIP wired cheaper in his return from Canada and he looks for three straight overall.

Race 7: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(5) DELITFULCATHERIN N dropped in for this tag last week, added Lasix and raced valiantly in defeat; she should be a nice price option in this competitive affair. (1) MILLWOOD BONNIE N seems to have found a home at this level and she draws best. (7) ROCKN PHILLY just missed from the pocket as the odds-on favorite last week upon arrival and now things get tougher as she moves outside; price will improve, however.

Race 8: NW 6/8 races lifetime Handicap Pace

(2) IMMA BE jogged in two straight and was snatched up by Team Bongiorno for $30K plus allowances; she draws well moving back to straight NW's and is clearly the one to catch. (6) DEAN B HANOVER raced well in her last couple for Gillis and she should be a decent price out of the six hole. (5) CAPTAIN FANCY added Lasix last start, finished well at 48/1.

Race 9: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) DIAMONDBEACH finished crisply last week to be second best and the Bucci trainee does have some speed in his arsenal; 4-year-old looks to have as good a chance as anyone in here. (1) DANCIN DRAGON is a big question mark coming off a lame scratch but he's certainly talented enough to take this. (5) BELMONT MAJOR N was a massive disappointment last week at 15 cents on the dollar; he drops again looking to rebound.

Race 10: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(6) COWGIRL LILLY has really turned things around of late, with three wins and a close second in her last four. This isn't the best starting spot but she's clearly sharpest of these now. (2) TALL POPPY N faltered last week at odds-on and she figures to attract a bunch of attention again. (3) KAITLYN N used to be a top-notch mare but she's really fallen on hard times; Bartlett gets the drive tonight and maybe she can sneak into the number at a price.

Race 11: NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace

(5) MYSWEETBOYMAX has been knocking heads with some good ones this season and he just missed upon arrival last week. He can take charge tonight and never look back. (1) UCANTTOUCHTHIS has raced pretty well recently but has been burning money. Bongiorno trainee looks to have the best chance to knock off the top one. (8) SOUTHWIND PETYR has plenty of talent but he draws another horrible post.

Race 12: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) WHOS BETTER returns locally from The Meadows and joins the Cory Stratton barn. He was facing tons better when we last saw him here. (1) MISSILE SEELSTER just missed in his last two, one at Freehold and one here from the rail. He'll look to complete a chalky exacta. (2) SAILBOAT HANOVER has been terrible in three starts off the Laterza claim but his latest showed some improvement. He should save ground and hopefully finish up well.
