Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 10/5

Matt Rose|Oct 04, 2021
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 344 - 1004 / $1,845.00 (-$163.00)

BEST BETS: 46 - 94 / $145.40 (-$42.60)

Best Bet: LARRY LINCOLN N (11th)

Spot Play: LYONS STEEL (4th)

Race 1: NW8 races or $100,000 lifetime Pace

(2) ALL HANDS ON DECK saw his win streak snapped last out when he was unable to reach the leaders but he still closed crisply in :27 1/5. Aside from #1 in here, he's generally facing a more comfortable spot tonight and we'll see if catch-driver Bartlett can stalk and get by late. (1) BETTERTHANTHEBEACH has been unable to replicate that initial local win four back but it's not like he's been bad in subsequent efforts; he'll be blasting down the road. (7) BEE TWO BEE has picked up his game since arriving from Canada to join the Burke barn.

Race 2: POP-UP Series NW20000 in last 5 Pace

(1) CODY HANOVER has gone two big efforts since joining the Bongiorno barn, including last week when he circled wide from too far back and made up plenty of ground. Worth a play, despite others having a class edge. (3) SEMI TOUGH ran into Leonidas A last week and could not muster a rally; this is a better spot. (6) PYRO lands a rare outside post which may make things too difficult.

Race 3: POP-UP Series NW20000 in last 5 Pace

(4) AFLAME HANOVER had good energy at both ends last week and he can convert here with a smooth trip. (1) BUDDY HILL was aggressively put in play from the outside post last start and he held okay late; he should loom large from this spot. (2) SAN DOMINO A was a solid upset winner last week and he's got plenty of class.

Race 4: POP-UP Series NW20000 in last 5 Pace

(5) LYONS STEEL returns locally off a near-miss in a fast race at Philly and don't forget he was a Borgata finalist earlier in the season. (1) ROCKAPELO has been underachieving for quite some time now but he’ll take money again from this appealing spot. (2) PRETTY HANDSOME proved very stubborn in defeat last week, his first start for Jenn Bongiorno.

Race 5: POP-UP Series NW20000 in last 5 Pace

(3) MACH DORO A tired with little excuse last week at odds-on but he's back in to go, and seemingly finds a much softer spot tonight. (2) DIAMONDBEACH exits the age-restricted ranks and last week's second-place finish was his best try in some time; he may be in line for a pocket trip again. (5) SANTA FE'S COACH figures to be on the move late for Lachance.

Race 6: $12,500 Claiming Pace

(2) TEXAS TERROR N had back-to-back tough trips in his last two while facing better but he drops back to the level of his win three back and the fact that this oldtimer is racing on a regular schedule is good to see. (5) OFFICIAL DELIGHT tired in his last two after showing speed and he too drops in class (but below the level of the recent claim). (3) ER VEGAS has hit the board the last three time Luke Hanners drove.

Race 7: NW2 races or $25,000 lifetime Pace

(5) RJ SPORTS IMAGE arrives from Hoosier with just two lifetime races, and they were both winning efforts; new addition to the Gannon barn could be an interesting play at an okay price with Kakaley driving. (1) NORTHERN NETWORK was plucked from the Indiana fair circuit by Laterza and interestingly he's coming out of the same race as the top choice (and did beat that one). He's looked good in practically every start. (2) ZOES LUCKY GUY likely needed his first local start for Lance Hudson and he seems capable of better.

Race 8: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(2) MUDVILLE arrives from Chicago and joins the Blackler barn with Bartlett driving, usually a live angle. 3-year-old has a decent record this season. (3) CARRYTHETORCHMAN has hit the board in his last four tries at this level. (5) BRAZEN BRAZILIAN is still winless on the year but he's got good early speed which sets him up with live trips.

Race 9: NW4 races or $50,000 lifetime Pace

(4) NEXT BIG THING brushed and crushed two back then ran into a runaway winner last out and had to settle for second best. Devita trainee lands a decent enough post in this evenly-matched event and could be tough. (1) MOONLIGHT SHADOW went too fast last start and fizzled out but he was pretty good the start prior; Simon Allard is listed to drive from a good starting post. (8) SAMSON BLUE CHIP faces better and lands outside off two blowout wins for Blackler; seems like he can go with these if he can overcome the post.

Race 10: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) MISTER SPOT A threw in a clunker last week but the DiDomenico trainee is right back in to go and if he can replicate his effort from two back he'll be tough. (1) GET LIT has looked better since dropping to this level and he draws inside. (6) REVELRY was claimed for $40K recently and suddenly he's toiling at the NW5000 level; I'm sure more was expected from this gelding.

Race 11: NW6 races or $75,000 lifetime Pace

(5) LARRY LINCOLN N was last all the way then was climbing over horses in the stretch; he'll roll over these with smooth sailing. (7) SOUTHWIND PETYR is a talented 3-year-old who had a reasonably successful run in the NYSS; he would be a much bigger threat with an inside post but he'll offer plenty more value starting outside. (3) CAPTIVATE HANOVER just missed sweeping the field last week after fanning widest.

Race 12: NW10530 in last 5 Pace

(4) CIGAR SMOKING TONY returns from Pocono and has been successful here this season in age-restricted events; Bartlett's back driving and he faces a pretty soft field here in the finale. (1) FLYINGEVENBETTOR N regressed last week after a series of good finishes; he does get class relief here. (7) VIRGIN STORM also drops and may have been the top pick if not for the poor post.
