Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 10/13/26

Matt Rose|Oct 12, 2026
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2026 MEET STATS: 287 - 898 / $1,550.82 (-$245.18)

BEST BETS: 52 - 95 / $176.72 (-$13.28)

BEST BET: CURLY JAMES A (4th)

SPOT PLAY: TALENT TO SPARE A (5th)

Race 1: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) LOTTO MAX goes second-time Lasix with another good draw as the Vicki Stratton trainee drops to the basement. Jordan drives again with a legit chance for the top prize. (3) CHURCHVIEWFRANKL IR is just 4 for 65 over the last two seasons but he also gets class relief and moves in after having a couple of tough posts. (1) LYONS BENJAMIN had been dull recently but took a little time off and comes back off a winning qualifier.

Race 2: 3-5YO Winners of 2-5 races or $60,000 LT Pace

(3) SWEET JOEL got class relief prior to his last start and won easily out of the seven hole. Alexander trainee can build off that effort as he faces a little bit better. (1) LYONS PAPI ROCK shipped in last week for the Engblom empire, picked up Bartlett, got hammered to 3/5, dug in to win. He too steps up to face better but at 7 for 17 lifetime he does have a winning habit and room for more improvement. (4) HE IS STINGIN has good early speed which generally sets him up with live trips. Dube drives again for the Julie Miller barn.

Race 3: 3-5YO NW2 races or $34,873 LT Pace

(6) ARISTA N makes his North American debut for the Engblom barn after showing solid progression from his first qualifier to his second. Added Lasix, Bartlett drives and even from the outside post I'll expect good things. (1) ROUGH DEAL drops back to the level where he was recently third and a close second. (2) GANDHI makes his debut for the Blackler barn after some moderate success in lower-level KYSS engagements at The Red Mile. Career mark of 1:50 flat was taken four back.

Race 4: $60,000-$75,000 Claiming Pace

(3) CURLY JAMES A faltered late under pressure last week but he should have a clear shot to the lead again with a chance to rate kindly. (6) CAPT KARMA was stubborn in defeat coming out of the same race as the top one and that ended his four-race win streak after moving to the Bongiorno barn. (2) REGAL IDEA gets the best post he's had since the claim by these connections.

Race 5: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(3) TALENT TO SPARE A is somehow 0 for 25 on the season but she moves to the inner half of the gate after two no-chance races from brutal posts and should have a legit chance from just off the pace. (1) GINGER TREE LIZ closed well last week and figures to revert to speed tactics. (2) DASH N CACHE has picked up her game after shipping in to Yonkers and is proving to be a live fit at this level.

Race 6: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(2) AVF CLAIRE has won four of her last five at this level and the lone loss was only a neck defeat. From this post and these connections she gets the call to win again. (3) SPIRIT OF PEARL A has been as consistent as they come and after wiring the field last week figures to be in stalk mode tonight. (5) IDEALINFUN has been a rent-a-horse and winning machine at the $20K level; finally steps up after being reclaimed by Laterza.

Race 7: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) TWIN B FRESH BET has been very sharp with Holland driving and now Bartlett picks up the catch drive from a post where he can be sent to the front again; goes for three straight. (1) ULTIMAROCA has been pretty good in two starts after returning to Yonkers and this veteran does have a class and experience on most of these, and especially the favorite. (8) MATAI PHIL N ends up with another brutal draw but there's no doubt he's been best here in 2026.

Race 8: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(6) TH COLBY settled for second again last week and he was the odds-on favorite but the Burke trainee has speed and remains sharp; I'll give in another look at a much better price. (1) PRAIRIE ROCKNROLL was very game in defeat in his local debut; keeps Brennan and lands the pole. Not sure what to make of (7) LOU'S ALBANO as he's been razor sharp at The Meadows but departs the Burke barn and moves to Adamczyk, has missed a little time and draws the worst post. Does have Bartlett, however.

Race 9: F&M $20,000 Claiming Pace

(5) GABBYS WISH was sent to the front last week when first-time Bartlett and almost made it the duration. The main players in here appear are to the inside of her but I think she can still make the front. (2) YUENGLING has been solid all season for multiple barns. (1) ALWAYS B LAYLA IR was hinting at a win recently and finally picked it up last out; Alexander trainee is clearly capable of repeating.
