Yonkers: Analysis for Tuesday 10/1

Matt Rose|Sep 30, 2024
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2024 MEET STATS: 300 - 975 / $1,621.70 (-$328.30)

BEST BETS: 43 - 84 / $152.60 (-$15.40)

BEST BET: NO WIN NO FEED A (4th)

SPOT PLAY: JUST ROSAS LUCK (1st)

Race 1: F&M $25,000 Claiming Pace

(3) JUST ROSAS LUCK hasn't won in a while but she drops back from the $50K claiming level to the $25's where she's much more competitive; decent draw gives her a legit chance over some shaky rivals. (2) CHASE YOU has failed to make an impact in three starts for the Engblom barn after arriving from Ohio; mare tired on the front end last week but gets another chance here. (4) NITE TIME DEAL beat the lowest conditioned class two back and now drops in for a tag. Fanning trainee shouldn't be too far back at any point.

Race 2: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(3) CALLMEQUEENBEE A tailed off in her last couple after winning first out for these connections after the claim; Napolitano gets the drive tonight and he's been live since returning to drive at Yonkers. (6) PREMIER SWEETALKER is perfect in two starts for the Alexander barn after arriving from The Meadows; she shifts over into claimers and could prove to be a good fit with these. (2) IDEALINFUN tired on the front end in her last two; maybe Bartlett defers to someone else and sits a stalking trip this time.

Race 3: $60,000-$75,000 Claiming Pace

(4) GENTLE GIANT has been sharp for these connections and they step him up a notch looking to capitalize; he's got some speed inside of him but has also shown the versatility to strike from just off the pace as well. (3) FREQUENT IMAGE was a well-rated winner last week and is forwardly placed every start; Alexander trainee can repeat if he makes the front without too much trouble. (5) TWIN B DELUXE just missed last start when dropping back to this level from the top class.

Race 4: F&M $50,000 Claiming Pace

(1) NO WIN NO FEED A has been a cash machine all year and now she gets major post relief after putting in big efforts from the seven and eight hole in her last two. Not looking at much of a price but she's clearly the one to beat. Trying a cold exacta with (3) JIVE DANCING A, who was scratched sick in last but she's right back in the box so I'll assume all is good with the veteran mare. (4) FREESTARFLIGHT has been hard to fault recently as she goes for three straight, including beating #1 last week, but now she's outside that one.

Race 5: 2-5YO NW2-4 or $60,000 lifetime Pace

(3) SWISS COTTON arrives from Indiana and joins the DiDomenico barn while not facing any standouts in this race. Is he worth a try? Hard to get excited about anyone in here. (1) SAN JOSE regressed last week after looking good in his first two career starts; draws well again. (5) AMERICAGREATAGAIN almost wired the field from the eight hole last start for Kakaley/Alexander. Assume he's heading to the front again as the likely favorite.

Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) STAY GROUNDED has just one win and $24K banked this year after promising freshman and sophomore campaigns but the Noel Daley trainee has been good in his last three out of town and driver Ahle is more than capable despite his rough local stats. (1) ODDS ON CAPITALISM was empty last week from the eight hole but it should be a different story tonight moving all the way in to the rail. (5) KARLOO BRADLEY N steps up in class off a win and the Bako trainee picks up Bartlett.

Race 7: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) WHATS STANLEY GOT A finished well last week and overall has had a solid season as he approaches $200K in 2024. Class drop and post improvement make him a big player as the likely second choice. (1) TIP TOP CAT is clearly the one to beat as the Burke trainee has been competitive with some of the best in the land. These two appear tough to overhaul. Throw a dart at the rest.

Race 8: 2-5YO NW2-4 or $60,000 lifetime Pace

I figured (1) HUMBLE A to be good at first asking but wow what a debut! 1/9 odds to repeat? (6) SPRING BLAKE rallied well to be a distant second to the top choice last week, could pick up the pieces again. (2) KID FROM THE BRONX figures to get a much smoother trip than he saw last out.

Race 9: 3-5YO Open Pace

(2) BLUE HUNT has made quite an impression after arriving from the Maritimes last month. Last week he bumped up to this level and took care of business with a solid back half. 4-year-old deserves top billing in the finale. (4) VERDUN has been a great claim for Lachance and amazingly he goes for four straight at this top level as likely the second choice. (1) TWIN B SEAMONSTER gave way late after cutting the mile in his first start for the Cory Stratton barn. He had missed some time prior to that race and now back in on consecutive weeks he figures to be tighter.
